First week shenanigans..

Started my first week as an RN, and my preceptor is great. It’s not a standard floor job so I’m just for a certain time but figuring out that people are snakes already is mind blowing. They’re emailing our managers saying we didn’t address any pain, meanwhile, some of those other ppl definitely have glass houses. Ready to be done with this rotation already.

[29/F] Seeking penpals

I’d take a random postcard too :)

Based in Florida, USA.. open to anyone around this lovely and lively planet!
But I’m a woman seeking a penpal! I have always loved the idea of writing letters and jot thoughts down and sending them to someone. Checking my mailbox and seeing something come in (that’s not a regular mail or packages) are also very exciting to me. I write down a lot of what I’m thinking and feelings, and I’d like to just speak to someone who does the same. Email is also nice since it’s easily accessible but I may not always have a reply right then and there so I can let it simmer for a bit. I enjoy genuine conversation, things that make me smile and chuckle, music and book recommendations, life updates, and more. I’m a pretty open book and will probably write long letters, so if that intrigues you, I’m your gal :)

Things we can do:
Swap fav snacks
Swap favorite teas
Book clubs (I’m open to a lot of genres)
Make mini side quests for each other
Send handmade things (cards, crafts, etc.)
Swap recipes

MARRIED WOMEN

I have a question… so a friend sent me some newbies pictures and I noted that her engagement ring/rock was on top and her wedding band was on the bottom. So like if you were to lay your hand flat, rock on top and band closest to yourself..

(I’m in NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM manifesting this for you)

But if you were to lose one, which would you prefer?
(Yes I know it’s not ideal to lose any)

(No I’m not engaged but I’m super curious and I gotta plan for my future) 🤣😭🖤

New job

Starting my new job today and I’m excited but I’m just so anxious and nervous to be around ppl. But I need this job in order to fund my journey. I did cry a bit but I’ll overcome it, just one day at a time. 😭

RN to BSN ppl

Having the urge to go a hiring event for my dream job that’s asking for a BSN. I took one semester off (the spring) and started my BSN this summer, I’m starting semester 2/5 in 2 weeks. I know they’re strict about it because of the magnet status and they might’ve been burned before but it sucks. I’m like you can even hire me and fire me if I’m not graduated by said date 🥲🤣 no harm no foul, just take a chance on me.. sigh. But ya know

Unpopular Opinion

Am I the only one who likes having a main preceptor but would like to switch it up every now and then?
Like for me, my preceptorship is 10-12 weeks and I have a dedicated preceptor for 6 weeks (so far). And I get abiding by their schedule but they work the SAME days every week, maybe will move it up one day or so 🤣🫩 which is okay too. But I also like learning from different ppl, because you become a product of who trains you until you find your footing, and regardless of how “good” someone may be, it never hurts to see something from another person even if it’s just for 3-4 shifts throughout the course. I get the sentiment of seeing someone grow and progress, but if they’re not a 100% by the book person, then you inherit their bad habits until you get settled.
Its just a little frustrating how our training goes and I get it, for the consistency purpose, for sure

Hiring Managers, Peds nurses, anyone?

Hi everyone, I’m starting over in adults, surgical PCU to be exact, for 6 months. Then I’ll get 2 more rotations and I’ll be able to apply to the floors I’ve worked (since they need help), I could possibly stay on one of them for my residency and complete it there, or I can finish it “floating” like I am and apply elsewhere. The goal is Peds. I wanted to start in Peds Med-Surg and eventually (3 years) go into PICU. What do you think my options are?

Should I try to float to more “critical areas” like Vascular or cardiac step down, just chance it, or just stay on surgical PCU after my 6 months is up? My managers for float are amazing, and I know the PCU manager. But also want to experience things and possibly use it to my advantage to get into Peds when my residency is over. Any and all suggestions welcome :) thank you everyone!

(New grad in a major city in the south btw)

DIY Peeps

As much as I love to support small businesses, gas prices are out of this world 🤣 anyone know the best type of cord to make charms? I found a little kit and want to make a few charms for my work backpack and purse for football season 🙂

Old Posty

Anyone here seen Posty before Hollywood Bleeding??

I have a few videos of him at Rolling Loud but I’m screaming so much I can’t even post them. I love he tried to branch out and do new things but old Post is the one (for me at least)

Cycle

I need to go to work to get gas money but my training facility is (35 minutes) a bit far for me to be able to drive back and forth so I can start making said money 😭 I’m currently training for a job 10 minutes away from me, but I won’t get paid for another 2 weeks (since payday is this week and I started yesterday). Using a bit of gas to go to 2 food banks this week, and hopefully my last $24 can last me until payday for my gas.

Ready to get over this hump so I can start making money and helping others! But you know that it’s just a season.. it’s just a season.. it’s just a season.. if I say it enough, I’ll believe it 😭

Seeking advice! (Sweet potatoes recipe)

Hi everyone! I was hospitalized a few weeks ago and was on a soft diet. During my time I was handed a sort of? pudding.. I’m not sure. But it was made of sweet potatoes. I DO NOT like sweet potatoes but I can destroy this by the gallon. But was wondering if anyone has made anything of the sort or could help me find the name for it?

It’s not a pudding, it’s super light, creamy, maybe whipped? And they were served cold. I found a whipped recipe but it was served warm so I’m wondering if it’s the same. Anyways. I attached a photo. Thank you guys for your help!
