Will I need proof of my baptism before I join the church?

I was baptized into the PCUSA but I’m in classes to join the LCMS. Will I need to provide proof of my baptism before I formally join? If so what will I need and how can I get it? My home church left the PCUSA and there’s currently a conflict with them although hopefully that won’t make proving my baptism difficult.

Thanks in advance for your help

Looking for a supernatural/haunted house “medium burn” horror with a few caveats.

So I’ve almost finished my current audible book and I want to go back to horror. The last horror book I read really disappointed me (Darcy Coates’ The Carrow Haunting) because there were no real stakes (>!literally no one dies just “go into a coma!<”) and things never seemed to properly escalate.

What I want is a haunted house or other supernatural novel that takes its time building up the tension but doesn’t overstay its welcome.

The Shining is pretty close to what I want though I think it may be a bit TOO slow of a burn.

The Haunting of Hill House is a book I liked the idea of but ultimately underwhelmed me with the scares.

The one other caveat I’d like to add is I don’t want a book that has a political ax to grind especially if it distracts from the story (Paul Trembly and T Kingfisher come to mind). I’d rather not have my scares interrupted by a room temperature take on “the bad side of religion”

What kinds of expansions could be added to playing as a Muslim

I admit I’m not as familiar with Muslim culture at the time but with these huge additions to Christianity I hope they’ll also make additions to Islam in the future. What do you guys think that might look like?

Umpteenth question about real presence

I’ve recently begun attending an LCMS church and my pastor was gracious enough to grant me communion while I attend classes to become a member. I do believe in real presence, mostly thanks to watching various theology videos on YouTube but sometimes my PCUSA upbringing comes back making me wonder if is didn’t mean is and communion is meant as a symbol.

I always find my way back to real presence especially when I’m actually taking part in worship. I hope this doesn’t sound prideful but I do feel a sense of peace when taking communion.

Sadly I also have scrupulosity so I always worry if that momentary questioning qualifies as “being in doubt”. What does being in doubt mean and how can I keep my focus on real presence.

Apologies if this post seems rambling I’m not the best at expressing my thoughts on this.

Spoiler’ s greatest line in the game

To me his best line is at the end of act 2:

Verso: that son was a stranger to you

Renoir: but you’re *NOT*

He nailed that line perfectly, the anguish in his voice was perfect.

What your: “well that’s going to make an interesting incident report” stories?

I once told a driver to make a u turn because there was a problem with their load and they had to go back to shipping. Instead of making a U turn they turned their full loaded 18 wheeler into a very cramped employee parking lot and I had to help them back out. I’m 90% certain that this guy was the same driver that killed all those people in Florida.

If you were a pro wrestler and had to pick a tom waits song for your face heel and stable themes what would they be?

Saw an older post taking about this and figured I’d resurrect it.

For those of you unfamiliar with wrestling terms:

Your “face” theme is when you play a “good guy” wrestler , think Hulk Hogan or John Cena.

Your “heel” theme is when you play a “bad guy” think Randy Orton or Ted Dibasse.

Your “stable” theme is when you team up with other wrestlers.

What’s in “Italian seasoning” and would it improve the taste of food to use fresh versions of it?

I’m as basic as the come when cooking and a key part of my meals is good ol Italian Seasoning. What exactly is in it though? I’m 90% certain it has rosemary and thyme (if anyone breaks into song I’m leaving) but what else is in it?

I’m new to the LCMS having been PCUSA most of my life (technically my original home church is independent but it’s complicated) I’m still adjusting to the order of service.

I’m used to the bulletin having all the information about the service but in the LCMS the hymn book has most of it so I’m having trouble jumping around in the hymn book and between the pages listed in the bulletin and the order of service pages and It just seems a bit irreverent for me to use the communion card for that purpose and to be desperately trying to find the right page while I’m supposed to be singing

Does anyone else use a ribbon bookmark or something similar to keep their place, if so can you recommend one?

Thanks in advance and apologies if this is a bit of a rambling post.

Just ran this yesterday in my Belfast in The Troubles campaign it wound up being the most brutal session so far.

Highlights

* last session my players stabbed the doctor from Genius Loci to death so I had the IRA blackmail them into exploring the tunnel with photos from that event.

*I had to telegraph the need to bring flashlights. I’m may be an evil Keeper but I’m not a total monster 😝

*I had an army checkpoint set up after my players had stocked up. If they had run into it I would have had the soldiers confiscate their weapons but they got away.

*I changed the cave to a place where snake worshiping cults had hung out before St Patrick arrived the remains were going to have a Christian and Pagan amulet in them but our hooker character fumbled her roll and destroyed one of them (I’m going to bring the surviving amulet back soon)

* I really enjoyed building up the degenerates. They were responsible for the majority of sanity loss

* I forgot the int roll rule so my players went insane a bit more often but that made the drama a lot better

*a fight with the degenerates knocked out two investigators and drive one insane.

*Two investigators failed their climb rolls at the pit. I had to change the damage to 1d6 or it would have been bad

*our hooker character still took 6 points of damage

*I kept leaving behind bits and bobs of an NPC to guide my players further in. I also added a giant snake skin with arms and legs which due to a bout of madness one of the players is mow obsessed with.

*3 of my players got a vision from Yig and the player with a snake skin is now afraid of snakes (their also a zookeeper.

*one of my players ate a mushroom… and passed their luck roll (the dice are fickle)

*two of my players ran when I warned them the ghasts were coming the other two hid. They failed their sanity rolls but avoided a bout of madness so the ghasts didn’t find them.

*The players ignored the suspended animation room

*I decided to have the snake person asleep as everyone was in bad shape at this point . They were able to rescue everyone without waking him. Mainly because I was able to talk one player out of trying to take a degenerate home with them.

Absolutely awesome session 5 snakes out of 5

I’m about to run The Darkness Beneath the Hill set in my Belfast 1981 campaign. I’d like to have them find a mythos tome in H’Risss’s (lotta ses) lair. I want to tie it to Ireland rather than use the rather generic ones in the keepers handbook.

Here are my ideas , what tweaks would you suggest?

taifead eiriceachta (a record of heresy)

Language: Irish

Allegedly written by a disciple of st Patrick who attempted to help his master drive out pagan practices . Mostly worthless mythos wise but makes reference to a work by an earlier scholar that documented the rites of a group hated even by the local pagans

síocháin agus cumhacht (peace and chaos)

Language : Irish

The writings of an erstwhile historian from the early 18th century looking for the truth behind the rumors in the above book . Has two versions the first and the “offical” version concludes it’s a myth but hidden in the text is a cypher which can be used to create the real book.

síocháin agus cumhacht (peace and chaos)

Language Irish

The actual record of the cult who worshiped the serpent people in their caverns. Contains contact and summoning for serpent gods etc. it is bound in the kin of a slain serpent.

Sanity 2d8

Mythos rating 15

Spells: 1d4

Just because one person prefers one ending to

Another does not make them a bad person, and you are not better or smarter than other people who prefer another ending. There are perfectly thematically appropriate reasons to pick either ending. Further:

Mallel ending supporters do not support slavery.

Verso ending supporters do not support genocide.

Which ending you prefer might say something about your personal philosophy (seriously you could do a graduate thesis on it if you could learn the demographics of who prefers what ending) but it does not say anything about your morality, your worth as a person or your intelligence.

That is all.

Just finished “Episode 13” and while I enjoyed the format I was overall disappointed in the ending. However it did remind me how much I love that format.

I’d really like to know if there’s a novel that uses that format to tell various perspectives on a big event where you have to put them together to figure out what really happened.

Books I’ve enjoyed that us this format:

“Fantastic Land” and “Come Knocking” (the later being pretty much exactly what I’m looking for but I need a new story)

“Devolution” and “World War Z”

“We need to talk about Kevin” (I enjoyed the unreliable narrator part especially)

Dracula

Books I didn’t enjoy

That echoing sound of his cane hitting the floor every time pRenior is about to make an appearance is almost perfect in building up tension. I saw one comment comparing it to Vader’s breath mask and I think that pretty much explains the whole thing. I haven’t been that traumatized of cane since my great grandfather mistook me for a German soldier invading his trench!

96 bucks altogether, I really wish the state would kiss me first.

That said I’m wondering what’s active in salt water fishing over the next few weeks as I’m thinking of heading to Carolina beach .

I’d also like some bait and gear recommendations I already have my rod but can you guys recommend a good cart or something to help me transport my gear?

Lastly what’s the best way to find a place away from swimmers when surf fishing?

Thanks
