Do I list a certification under experiences or licenses?

The certification I have is Psychological First Aid (PFA) and idk if I should list it under experiences or licenses. If I put it under experiences, what category should it be?

Which LOR should I eliminate/include for my application?? Pls help!

I can only pick 2 out of these 3 professors below so lmk!! (Got an A on all these classes too btw)

-General Chemistry Professor (1 and 2): took this my freshmen year, she sent me the letter the same day I asked for it so I’m scared it’ll be weak. My DAT chem score is on the more below average side so I’m not sure if including this letter could be beneficial because of that.

-Biochemistry professor: took this one semester ago so more recent, she took a longer time to write the letter so it feels like it’ll be “higher quality.” Feel like this upper level chem class would look good.

-Organic Evolution professor: took this one semester ago, written by an Assistant Professor (not sure if this changes anything), I’ve had the most communication with him, asked me questions about what he should include on the letter so feels like it’ll be more tailored to me as an applicant. A little worried since this a more “random” class.

Thoughts on which 2 I should do? Ngl I don’t have super close relationships with ANY of them so besides that factor which ones would seem the best?

[Acne] my back randomly started getting these little bumps all over - help??

About 4 weeks ago I had a huge flare up of back acne out of nowhere. It hadn’t really got better at all, but last 2 days the red pimples started to get better a bit, but then now I have these weird little bumps all over.

Does anyone have any idea at all at what potentially happened?? What should I do?? Any products to recommend?

Meds I’ve tried on my back for referemce: tretinoin, aquafor/vaseline, hydrocolloid patches, benzoyl peroxide, and I’m not sure what else but I’ll edit if I remember. I tried looking it up on Google and some people say to use Nizoral shampoo or something but I’ve used that before and had a bad reaction to it

Pls lmk! Any advice is appreciated:)

what is the lowest MCAT score you’d accept (and not retake) if the rest of your application was PERFECT?

hypothetically, how low of a score would you apply with if you have an amazing personal statement, extra curriculars, LORs, etc. (i know this is relative but still)

also consider your overall GPA to be around a 3.84 (only other thing that isn’t “perfect” 4.0)

keep in mind: you want to apply to MD schools in the US

Being a “stay at home mom” as not as hard as people say

It’s defintely a lot of work, but the work has to get done one way or another?? I don’t understand when people say it’s a harder “job” than real jobs bc things like cooking, cleaning, errands, and taking care of kids needs to get done anyways - therefore having a real job and then coming home and having to do all of those things is so much more work.

Tbh idk how this is an unpopular opinion but apparently it is. Like okay you did laundry and cooked today?? Great, I’m gonna do exactly that too when my shift is over. I know it’s more than that but I still don’t get it

(Side note: it’s funny how I always see on social media things about how “being a mom is a job” but i never see anything that being a dad is a job.)

Edit: I never said it’s NOT hard. I’m just saying it’s not as hard as people say. And that I don’t see how being a stay at home mom is harder than working while ALSO being a mom

Edit2: Being a stay at home mom sounds awful bc it just sounds annoying and boring to me but to me that’s not what I think of as “hard”. It is a lot of repetitive household tasks, but it’s not as intellectually demanding in the same way as many other jobs

Mascara won’t come off no matter what I try. Advice??

I only wear mascara occasionally, but I’ve noticed that no matter what I use, it never fully comes off. I’ve tried different mascaras too (I never use waterproof btw), so I know it’s not just one product. I’ve also tried micellar water, Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover, Clinique Cleansing Micellar Milk, makeup remover wipes, cotton balls, Q-tips, everything.

I shower every day, wash my face twice a day, and somehow I still find mascara on my eyes days later (there’s been times even a week later!) I literally made my friends watch my whole routine to see if I was doing something wrong, and they were confused because theirs comes off so easily. Starting to think maybe there’s something wrong with my eyelashes lol

Does this happen to anyone else?? Any suggestions??

▲ 1 r/OCD

I’m 22 and I’ve had OCD since I was around 7, but I only got diagnosed at 21 and started therapy/meds then too. I’ve had a bunch of different themes over the years, usually multiple at once with different intensities. I’ve noticed that a lot of my OCD intrusive thoughts/compulsions seem to come from specific experiences or random conversations I’ve had, even if they didn’t consciously affect me at the time. But I never really thought an overall bigger OCD theme could develop from experiences too until recently.

For example, my friend once mentioned a news story about someone getting shot at a stoplight from a nearby car. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but afterward I subconsciously started avoiding having my car windows line up with the car next to me when stopped. I still do it a year later, and I only recently realized where that habit even came from. I know it’s very irrational and I obviously know it’s not my friend’s fault at all.

The bigger realization for me was the development of my false memory OCD. When I was 14-17 I dated a really manipulative guy who constantly made me question reality. He’d get mad and claim we “never hung out” even though we saw each other every day. If I said “we literally hung out yesterday,” he’d say things like “are you sure that wasn’t a dream/hallucination?”, “maybe you imagined it.” Even if I showed texts/pictures proving it, he’d say I photoshopped them. He’d accuse me of cheating while I was literally at work and say stuff like “what if you cheated and just don’t remember.”

At the time I thought he was just an asshole (which he was), but looking back I think that’s around when my “what if I imagined it / what if I don’t remember correctly” OCD really started getting bad. Things like checking if I locked the door, wondering if I hit someone while driving without realizing, not trusting my own memory, etc.

Does anyone else notice their OCD themes/obsessions/compulsions seem connected to certain experiences or people? Not blaming those experiences for the OCD obviously, but more like they shaped the themes your brain held on to.

▲ 1 r/zoloft

I had a pretty bad reaction after drinking alcohol while taking Zoloft for the first time and wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this.

I’ve been on Zoloft for 6 weeks now and recently increased to 50mg (I take my meds with dinner around 10pm btw), and since going up to that dose I’ve been more tired during the day. So last weekend, when I drank, I only took 25mg and took it a few hours later than usual because I didn’t want to feel tired while I was out drinking.

Before I even took the dose, I started feeling off, and over the next few hours I got really nauseous, shaky, anxious/panicky, and felt awful until I finally went to sleep. This never happens to me when I drink. Luckily, I was fine the next morning but I felt bad for like 6 hrs.

Do you think changing the timing/dose contributed to it? How should I go about taking my Zoloft next time I drink? I’m going out tonight again so pls help🙏

Note- the days I go out I have an earlier dinner around 6:30pm so idk if I should take the Zoloft then, or when I’m out, or what. Pls lmk!!!!

for a little more info:

i just finished my senior year of college. i wanted to apply last year but my mcat practice FLs were not great so i had to settle on a gap year. somehow a year later, nothing has changed. i took the mcat 4/25 and i know i scored somewhere between 495-505.

(yes i know it sucks. yes i prob should’ve voided it. yes i don’t have my score back yet but i can guarantee there is 0 chance it is higher than that. my last two FL’s were 500.)

side note- i have a 3.83 GPA. and pretty good extra curriculars. i know my mcat weighs me down the mostttt. (also im a florida resident and avg mcat’s are like 512+)

if you were me would you…

A. take another gap year and lock in for the mcat to get 510+ (pros: much higher chances of getting into an MD school you want in florida, cons: having two years off sounds like absolute hell)

B. apply this cycle and go DO route (pros: only one year off, cons: not what i wanted/planned on doing)

(unrealistic but just in case)- C. retake mcat in june, hope for a 510+, apply late this cycle in july (pros: good mcat increases chance of MD, dont have to take an extra year off; cons: applying late puts me at a disadvantage but either way this choice is very unrealistic

lmk what you guys think im curious to hear the reasoning behind too

[reposting bc i didn’t get any comments and i wanted to see if anyone related and/or had advice🥹]

a big part of my OCD compulsions and intrusive thoughts is based around safety. this includes excessively checking if i locked the door, turned off the stove, packed all my things, turned off the lights, etc.

i know one way to decrease these compulsions is to just resist the urge, but idk how i’m supposed to resist the urge when it ends up coming true? for example, i might check my purse 10 times before leaving my house, and then i’ll check again in the car, to then realize i did actually forget my wallet🤦🏻‍♀️

so of course my OCD loves seeing that bc it’s like “see i was right, you do need to keep checking bc you have forgot things in the past and you didn’t check good enough the first time”. obviously i know that this isn’t true, and i know that checking is not helpful and does not resolve the issue, but it drives me crazy when my ADHD does makes me forgetful bc it “validates” my OCD (aka my ocd and adhd are dating and i need them to break up)

recently i tried to accept it and resist the urge anyways, but then on more than one occasion i literally ended up leaving the lights on or/and forgot to pack something :(

not only is it hard to resist the urge when i am forgetful, but sometimes i can’t differentiate whether or not i truly need to check something or if its just my ocd talking. especially if the outcome of not checking is much more detrimental than just turning off the lights (like the consequences of actually forgetting to turn off the stove)

does anyone have any advice for how to resist these urges even when its been “validated” in the past? and how to differentiate between what’s an ocd thought vs what’s actually worth checking? and any tips on being less forgetful overall (kinda the root of the problem)??

i know that was a lot but hopefully it makes sense. thanks!

3 weeks ago my upper back randomly had this huge flare up that came out of nowhere. I’ve tried so many things - hydrocolloid/pimple patches, tretinoin, benzoyl peroxide, scrubs (barely did that bc I didn’t want to irritate it more), aquafor/vaseline, and even briefly tried hydrocortisone and antibiotic ointment and it just hasn’t improved at all. It’s even spread to my lower back a bit too. (the picture I uploaded is of my upper back)

I’m not sure why this happened bc nothing has changed in my life and I haven’t taken any new meds or anything. Does anyone have any advice of what I could do? I’m feeling really insecure about it and I just want it to go away lol

I have had some back acne in the past, but nothing like this at all so I don’t know what to do
