So I have a 2028 TIPS ETF fund via Ishares. I'm curious what happens in my brokerage account (IBKR) when the bonds it contains mature in 2028. Does it get automatically liquidated into cash (i.e the principal), with the ETF disappearing from my list of assets?

I thought there was supposed to be a standalone Premier League+ app offered by EPL ... there were tons of news stories about this a few months ago. But I don't see any such app nor a website to sign up. Is it only being offered through Starhub? I'd rather not deal with Starhub if I can ... can anyone point me in the right direction?

Music keeps playing as well, though Disney+ does not. Before upgrading to 26 I never had this problem. Turning off the screen used to pause video and audio.

We'll be moving to TO with a 5th grader and a 4th grader. They've been educated to this point in a French (France) school, but their French is probably not good enough yet to pass the exam for entry into the Viamonde system.

We want them to continue studying in a Francophone environment. I see there is a designated entry for 4th graders into French Immersion, but options would my 5th grader have?

I was reading a Virginie Despentes essay, where she theorizes that high rates of rape reflect in part that women are taught not to fight back, for fear of escalating the situation and suffering worse violence. That men know women aren't likely to fight back, so they know the physical risk they incur by aggressing women is low, so they're more likely to do so.

We can extend this theory to street interactions: because cat-callers and other street harassers know women are most likely going to ignore their verbal violence, they're more likely to harass women. The risk they run is low.

The conclusion is that if women fight back as a rule, men will feel more risk and will engage less often in this behavior. I don't think the idea is to let men off the hook here but that women need to be more militant in defending themselves.

What do you make of this argument? Escalating these encounters by fighting back may incur additional risk to the woman involved, but might it also reduce globally the frequency of such assaults?

Avant d'avancer à ma critique, il faut dire que votre ville est tellement charmante, à la taille humaine, animée, avec une mixité sociale intéressante (une pincée de Rennes punk, une pincée de Paris bourgeois). J'ai trouvé les nantais chaleureux aussi.

En plus, il faut reconnaître que la ville avance pas mal sur les sujets urbanistes, c'est impressionant tous ces nouveaux chantiers et projets. D'ailleurs, c'était intelligent de la mairie de mettre dans la place Royale les panneaux démontrant ces nouveaux aménagements.

Tout cela dit, le manque d'arbres était flagrant. On a passé une semaine à Nantes toute en canicule, avec des allers-retours quotidiens le long du tram 1, et c'est quasi tout de la pierre et du béton entre la gare et Commerce. Avec aucun refuge du soleil tu y crames de 10h à 20h. Je sais que la ville était aménagée pour stocker la chaleur, mais avec ces canicules qui s'enchaînent, laisser une route si fréquentée par les piétons et cyclistes totalement exposée au soleil est à 2026 un gros problème.

Et c'est pas juste là. Une autre exemple est l'ave Carnot jusqu'au pont de la Rotonde, il y a un large aménagement pour les cyclistes en mileu de l'avenue et c'est toute bitume noire, aucun abri du soleil. Même chose autour du Feydau. Je me demande aussi si ce serait possible d'ajouter des arbres au centre du cours des 50-Otages sans gêner la circulation des cyclistes.

Bon malgré la chaleur intense c'était une semaine super fun dans votre ville formidable. Je voulais juste laisser quelques mots sur un sujet de l'urbanisme qui correspond bien aux ces récents canicules.

I'm trying to figure out why France gets these crazy heat waves. I have two theories as a layman:

(1) It's upper-level winds bringing the heat from north Africa. I noticed on earth nullschool that winds at 850 hpa (~20k feet) were flowing directly north from the Sahara into Spain and France.

(2) The heat is generated in place. Solar heating plus a lack of wind traps the heat in place and it accumulates over time.

I know I'm supposed to honor the bean and that a light roast will bring out its terroir, but sometimes I just want a good ole comforting coffee. Traditional coffee flavors like lemon and grapefruit. I know it's not cool anymore but I just cant help it, I want my espresso to taste like espresso.

Bedroom player in an apartment here. I'm looking to get a good dirty sound, say Keith Richards, at low volumes and am struggling. If I have the amp (Tone Master Princeton) set at 0.5 watts and the I can get it to break up, but am not terribly pleased with the tone. Anyone have a rec for how to make these two play nicely together?

Is there some sort of unofficial way I'm supposed to structure the responses, like for IELTS? I'm a native anglophone and legit very good writer, so I was surprised by the score. There were no grammatical mistakes, I used a range of vocabulary registers, ensured that my sentences were varied in terms of structure, etc.

On the bottom of your turntable, on the lower right side, you'll find a hole that is labeled L.IN. There's a (recessed) plastic knob inside the hole. You'll want to turn it slightly in a counter-clockwise direction. This will move the needle back, so that it falls on the vinyl before the first track starts.

My knob was originally facing in a 10-4 (o'clock) direction. Moving it to 9-3 fixed the issue and now my needle drops ~2 seconds before the beginning of the first track, as it should.

Last thing, my knob didn't turn readily, so I had to take off turntable's bottom panel. UNPLUG THE MACHINE before doing this. You'll need to take out the screws holding the panel plus the screws holding the two bottom feet. Once I did that, I could access the knob and apply the necessary force to get it to turn.

TK changed my outbound flight timing, so I'm attempting to use my one-time free change. The stupid website shows duplicate outbound flights (i.e. the same flight, twice) and forces me to reschedule both. Then when I reschedule both to my desired date/time, it says I have duplicate bookings and that it cannot make the change.

You can't make this shit up. How can a billion dollar company not run a functional website.
