Deutsche Bundesbahn E10.12 for G Scale WIP

Deutsche Bundesbahn E10.12 for G Scale WIP

You know the drill. I'm absolutly obsessed with creating a whole roster of cheaper and better G scale stock, especially of prototypes that have never been produced by a big company so far. This class has seen everything from prestige TEE services to local commuter work.

G scale will truly allow her to shine!

Piko G Scale Taurus - New Bufferbeam In Progress

I found the image on an ebay listing with a regrettable price tag attached, so given the simplistic nature of the part, I figured I can do it better and more cheaply. I immediately found several inaccuracies and loads of detail that could be implemented quite easily, and this is the state of it all after an evening of tinkering.

I'm probably going to make some more detailing add-ons, such as a back wall for the cab, too, so keep looking for that to come out!

Piko G Scale Taurus - I figured it out!

So while it is indeed possible to file down the control desk's edges to make more room for sliding out the headlight pieces, I realised that the indents for the tail lights are already on the surface, and just covered up with paint. So armed with a screwdriver and some sand paper, I scraped off most of the paint. I would recommend using the sandpaper rather than just the screwdriver, as it gives a much cleaner albeit still kind of messy finish. I put a small scrap of sandpaper in place and then gently moved both the paper and screwdriver around in unison, and that seems to be the best way of doing it.

You can't see it in the photo, but I haven't managed to get it all off yet and on one side I took away paint in unintended places, so light leaks here and there.

All I need now is the headlight mount that I designed and we're good to go!

Piko G scale Taurus - LED headlight refit

For the issue that I linked here, I've quickly thrown together a mounting bracket that allows for holding LEDs at just the right spots. The original configuration came with a light bulb of all things, so here's the solution. Not very graceful in the prep part, but it promises to look fantastic. Even just one sanded-down LED positioned in the right spot by hand throws a lot of light.

Piko G Scale Taurus - How Do I Remove The Cab And Acrylic Light Distributor?

All those parts are kind of jammed in there, and I'm afraid if I use too much force I might break something.

I wanted to install individual LEDs and repaint the engine so I need to take off everything I can so I don't have to mask anything off.

Has anybody got the engine and removed those parts before?

Bargain Bin Taurus Has Been Acquired

So turns out the previous owner started an RC conversion. I thought I could easily bridge the pickup lines with the motor inputs, but... the pickup shoes and the little plates that conduct power to the pins are missing, so even ordering replacements wouldn't do much. Soldering a patch wire is also out of the question as the pins don't bond with my solder.

I might as well continue the conversion and treat this as a candidate for my railBT platform. Haven't worked on that in a while... https://github.com/LillyWho/esp32-bluepad-railBT

I was able to have it run a few loops by soldering a USB cable onto the motor inputs and plugging thr cable into a heavy duty power bank, so I know the motors are fine.

My gazillionth started project: AdTranz DB BR 101

I had a horrible migraine up until a few hours ago and I felt like creating something new, so in keeping with the theme of all the IC rolling stock as of late, I quickly managed to get this basic model started.

It's fairly simply to do thanks to the overall shape, but I'm still proud of such a solid start.

Follow me on Thingiverse under RoyalRailway if you want to keep an eye out for the eventual release. If some creation on there that has already been released has helped you, a small donation would go a long way. My ko-fi page is linked on my profile. Thank you!

I'm about to get a mildly damaged Piko Taurus really cheaply - does anybody need any spare parts reverse-engineered?

It's got banged-up pantographs and missing buffers, but otherwise it's totally in good nick and it'll be a really nice deal. I don't know yet if she runs or not, but even without her running it'll be a fantastic deal.

So since I'll be making spares to print anyway, does anybody need something specific recreated?

Was soll's.

Deutsche Bahn n-Wagen Coaches In Progress!

I'm retooling this based on this creation: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6072445

I'm tempted to keep this full length, but that would cause the huge 1:25 construction to struggle in curves so that might not be feasible for a running version. Would look absolutely fantastic on a shelf though...!

After taking hours recently improving the Eurofirma coach using the Piko coach as a reference, I look at the Train Sim World expert IC train, and...

...come on, Piko! You're professionals, selling this stuff for hundreds of euromonies! I trusted you! 😅 It's not even close enough!

Oh the joys of getting new track, and along with it motivation to clean house to set up a loop...

It's all lopsided because I currently haven't got enough curves of any radius to make half a circle, but it works anyway because I'm good at what I do and I've got smaller pieces to make up for any indescribancies.

That red blur whizzing off to the left in the frame is my Playmobil diesel, by the way.
