I'm trying to like it and I am new to steam input

I don't like it, I don't love it and I don't hate it, I'm just confused because it's new, I have had nothing but issues with the controller since it finally showed up and to be honest I am really not liking it, I want to return it because the things I thought it could do arent working, or is it because I'm a windows user and I shouldn't be using the controller ??

I finally got it setup PERFECTLY for desktop use but when I want to play games that's where everything goes south and the issues come flying in.

I've had nothing but problems when switching to games, for one a major issue is I have to unplug my keyboard mostly everytime I relaunch a game to get it to switch to controller and this is getting very irritating as I am constantly having to go behind the PC and unplug the keyboard and plug it back in, I've already done this over 30 times today and it seems completely ridiculous as a workaround I have no idea how to fix.

I am new to steam input and most of the time I just disable it because I'm coming from using Xbox/PS controllers so the games I play don't need them due to being already compatible.

currently I am trying to setup action sets which I think lets me change the layout if I hold a specific button long enough to switch modes to whatever I want and I just can't understand how to activate it ?? I found info online about stuff from 10 years ago and it's for the original steam controller and that's not helping at all since this is 2026 lol

My other issue is vibrations are so light and faint like it's barely even there, is that a steam input thing I can turn up? I can't find anything in the menus?

the physical controller is kinda ok in my hands, I am use to Xbox Series and PS5 controllers and I kinda prefer those instead, I've only had the Steam Controller for a while now but its just not fitting in, especially since I have never used back buttons before which I keep accidentally hitting, so I simply disable them, but the back buttons make me feel like my hands are cramping cause how awkward it is to me it's like a foreign object, is that normal ??? I don't get hand cramps with the other controllers I mentioned.

My PC is strictly gaming so there is literally nothing on it but Steam, A Browser, and some old games, the only launcher is Xbox + Steam, I don't have discord on it so Idk if the controller is conflicting with anything or what but I feel like my PC is as basic for gaming as it can get?

the real issue is, I am spending more time trying to get it to work instead of just playing games, how do I do this?

Ty and I'm ok skill issue with the back buttons lol my friend says that to me all the time

Edit: I think my eddits ruined the formating of the body, but also USER ACCOUNT CONTROL keeps disabling mouse mode???? I have to get up and grab my wireless mouse/keyboard combo it's very annoying and the whole point of the controller purchase was for combining 3 things I love, controllers, mouse and keyboard.

same with turning on PC and logging in, at login screen it lets me use the mouse function as trackpad for only a few seconds before locking me out. It's annoying should I have not bought this for windows use?

love / hate the x5s due to disconnects

it does not matter what mode, or device I am connected to, PC, Android, or even my Switch, this thing just drops signal all the time, longest it gets to stay active or about 10-15 minutes and then it randomly shuts off until I turn it back on, or it disconnects, and attempts to reconnect for multiple seconds, this is a very irritating handheld, anyone have this issue? I have it fully updated from the android app and idk what else I could do with it, thanks community!

additional info: it doesn't matter what I do, case on a phone, or tablet, case off a phone or tablet, heck I even tried playing in the middle of nowhere with any wireless interference devices and it still acts dumb.

they just keep making the widget worse

I'd rather go back to the widget on the top, the middle was okay as a replacement but still sucked cause they centered everything, the bottom is simplified for some awful reason you can't even skip songs on it now, and no cover art?

WHAT ????

Achievements from Delisted Titles on Main Account

I have checked the forum already but need a more direct answer I guess for my use case, sorry if it's been asked already.

I want to unlock some achievements on my main account but I don't know the rules with this bad update trick.

my buddy Flashy D has a copy of Assassin's Creed Liberation HD XBLA on him and I wanted to borrow it, however I don't own the game, it has never been on my account, ever, which is why I wish to borrow his copy, heh, would it get my account banned for randomly unlocking achievements on a game I don't own? I was wondering about DLC as well, since Flashy D has a nice collection they'd let me borrow for Assassins Creed Brotherhood as well, I can't purchase copies of this DLC from Xbox Live store but couldn't I just borrow it, technically, all offline of course, and when I'm want it synced I just unplug bad update and go log in online?

Or is that really stupid, I been hesitant to borrow, he's a little sketchy and I've only just learned of his methods!!

I'm really asking how this method works compared to when as a kid I use to unlock achievements from games owned and installed from profiles back then already on the system, wouldn't this technically be the same or no? Ty ty

CachyOS Handheld Edition Steam Big Picture FLASHBANG bug

https://reddit.com/link/1tj8rcv/video/4g906x0jwe2h1/player

I'm using the Hand Held edition version on my 9060XT build, all is fantastic, loving every second of it, until the menus of steam start flash banging me, idk if this is a problem with cachyos or just the game mode, cause its the only issue i am getting, i am sensitive to flashing lights and this bothers me since sometimes it rapidly does it 2 to 3 times, i slowed down the video with my slo mo mode on phone recording so hopefully this can be analyzed by someone more educated than me cause idk what to do, IT DOES NOT DO THIS DURING GAMEPLAY OR DESKTOP MODE, thank you.

edit: it only does this when navigating the menus during gaming mode, deck like mode, whatever it is called lol

edit2: it seems to only do it when mouse is activated moving around, when I navigate with controller or keyboard arrows, it's seems, normal, and no flash bangs, odd.

VGA LIGHT HAS BEEN TORMENTING ME FOR AWHILE

Hey so I'm losing my mind, my explanation is most likely going to be all over the place so I apologize in advance, but the VGA light on my mini PC has been screwing with me for the last 4 days now since I actually started trying to fix the darn thing instead of "dealing with it" as in, ignoring it, but now it's the weekend and I'm gonna waste another weekend with PC problems.

above in video is a rare moment that it actually posted and took me to my OS, it does not matter what OS I use, I can't even post into BIOS at times. I've removed my OS drives multiple times and confirmed it can't even post into the bios, I have probably turned off and on my PC more than 100 times this last 4 days, the psu is not the problem cause I already tested a different one and wasted even more time doing that, I have troubleshooted so many things and so many times.

My build needs a PCI Riser, which I have a 4.0 riser, so I tell my motherboard to use Gen 4 instead, I even try Gen 3 speed and same issues, heck I even TOOK OUT THE GPU and put it outside the case so I could fit it into the actual Gen 5 slot just to see if the problem still persists, and if it didn't then I would say well screw it I guess I just need a gen 5 riser, but no!!!

, it's a RX 9060 XT and it's gen 5 card so I have tried Auto, Gen 5, Gen 4, Gen 3 speeds and this solid stupid white VGA light that stays and I have to literally turn off my PC up to 3 to 10 times just to get it to post, I have checked the ram, swapped the ram, nothing is overclocked, heck this is a new GPU I picked up not even a week ago cause my 9070 XT is currently in RMA and to be honest NOTHING HAS BEEN GOING WELL LATELY IN MY LITTLE PC ADVENTURE, ughhhh I have such a headache I am exhausted and I don't know what to do, I have looked at so many guides and videos, I could make this post longer but I have spent 4 days already doing everything I could find online about what to do, maybe I need new information??? Idk anymore, I'm freaking out.

I've read the post too many times trying to make it make sense, that I realize I should post my specs, so here they are:

ASUS ROG Strix B650E-I Gaming WiFi AMD B650 AM5

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D + AMD RX 9060 XT GIGABYTE

G.SKILL Flare X5 Series AMD EXPO 32GB RAM DDR5 6000

Corsair SF Series (2024) SF1000, 80 PLUS Platinum

It's just crazy I now have the card in my PCI Slot IN THE MOTHERBOARD, it doesn't even wiggle, not even a little so it can't be a contact issue, heck it can't even be my pci riser cable causing these issues because it's not even plugged in right now and I'm still having these annoying hangs!!! I just don't understand what's going on, is it the Motherboard? I have latest BIOS and nothing is overclocked and has never been overclocked, all my stuff is STOCK, I reset the motherboard countless times and configured so many things just for it to do nothing, so I guess my big question is, is my motherboard just garbage??

I probably already mentioned, but this VGA light happens when I restart pc in system, or just straight up power button shut down, like it just doesn't matter what I do, not even an operating system problem cause it happens when there's literally no drives plugged in ....

I forgot to mention that it has done this in the past but I would just ignore it but now I'm starting to notice this since the last 8 months I've had this computer

ugggghhhhh thank u everyone plz advice I'll take it all before I RMA anything cause idk

is it realistic to sell a pain in the butt GPU that has constant driver timeouts every 10-30 minutes across both of my computers using stock settings, no overclocks, my 9070XT Reaper by PowerColor does this timeout thing every day and I can only game for less than an hour if I'm lucky using stock adrenaline settings, the only fix I found that lasts a while is to underclock the clock speeds and I can probably play for a few hours, the thing is, I need to find someone who actually wants something like this cause apparently it's not rare for these amd gpus to be dumb and I am just getting sick of it, lol what should I do, I wanna switch back to Nvidia GPUs I never have issues like that.

I have been a first time AMD GPU owner for about 8 months now and quite honestly the experience has been absolutely annoying and not pleasant and every month I just want nothing to do with the GPU anymore, I have been on team Nvidia for my entire life and I've had no crazy issues that's stopped me from playing games on my Nvidia systems, I decided to switch to an AMD GPU because the 9070 XT I purchased (PowerColor Reaper) for my secondary build, fits in my little Mini ITX build wonderfully and is somewhat close in performance to my RTX 4080 in my main build, however that thing is massive and does not fit in my secondary PC.

my experience has been nothing but driver timeouts, and it's becoming annoying with the whole AMD Adrenaline software resetting my custom settings for the underclocking, lowering clock speed, whatever it's called, there's a whole mega thread of fixes I followed somewhere on a subreddit for AMD support and nothing seems to work, I tried windows 10/11, downgrading drivers, trying this and that and it's just such a headache, I have actually even swapped the GPU to my main build and the same thing happens with the timeouts, I want to sell the card at this point, I just want to be done with it, but I don't want to sell the card to someone who will face the same issues and then demand their money back because they call me a scammer for selling them a defective card, if it's even defective I don't know???

I do seem to get a more stable experience if I lower the clock speeds, but then the adrenaline software wipes my custom settings and it's just such a headache, so I guess the real question is how am I suppose to sell this thing to someone, how do I find someone who's willing to buy this card, I've seen people say this is normal for AMD cards and "welcome to the AMD experience" but holy crap this does not feel normal, we should not have to "fix" our own cards why can't it just be plug and play? Why do we have to tune it to stop time outs, I just don't get it.

I do have an RMA request going through so idk if a replacement will do anything, and if it doesn't do I just sell that card instead then? Ugh. sorry. I'm just tired of this and I want to game with no problems like I do on my main build. I want to like AMD GPU but not with this experience, it's got me messed up on my opinions.
