Holidays

I have no idea how I’m going to survive the holidays and family gatherings

I’m in bed all day from depression
Not eating
Can’t put myself together

The tiniest thing I need to do is severely mentally taxing

I cancelled my trip to see my family this week because I’m feeling so low

I don’t know how to get out of this funk

Retirement

About me: I have lived 33/35 years outside of Bosnia & Herzegovina. 🇧🇦 I currently live in Southern California. It’s extremely expensive but I honestly love the weather.

I guess since I am inching toward 40, I have been thinking about retirement a lot more than before.

For those currently in diaspora, do you plan to retire in your home country?

Or -

Do you plan to go back before retirement? Or would you even go back before retirement if you had enough money hypothetically?

Pitanje za stomatologe - kruna

Uradila sam root canal (korijenski kanal?!) u Bosni mozda u 2008/9 godini.

Nista me ne boli.

Zivim u Americi.

Crown

I had a root canal done in high school (probably 2008/9).

Nothing hurts me.

New dentist insists I need a crown and that it’s “standard of care.”

I’m skeptical since nothing hurts?!

Moving forward

I hope one day, that people from 🇭🇷 🇧🇦 🇷🇸, can move forward. I hope one day I live to see the day where nationalists are long gone and our future kids have a bright future in their own countries.

May the next generation bright peace and light.

Today feels heavy reading all of these comments.

That is all.

If you have nothing positive to add, please don’t.

Rephrasing my original post - “Mixed” Balkan Marriages

I’m Bosnian (Muslim) and my fiance is Serbian (Orthodox). 🇧🇦 🇷🇸 💖✨

We both grew up in America & we’re both pretty Americanized considering we basically spent our entire life here. 🇺🇸

How many of you grew up outside of Balkan but then ended up with someone else from Balkan?

Both sides (ranging from family to friends) have mostly accepted it but of course there’s always a few that have shit to say 🤣 we ofc don’t care about their opinion. Accept it or fuck off basically.

How many of you have found yourself in this situation?

Also, we were both married before with people outside of Balkan and it didn’t work out (cultural differences + other factors).

I’d love to read your stories etc. 💖✨

How do I (35F) deal with my fiance (34M) when it comes to finances?

To summarize:

My Dad is a saver. He has a home almost paid off in the Midwest. Has a couple of options for retirement.

His Dad: Reckless spender. Has no plan or money for retirement. Owes money to my fiance and never paid it back. He married a much younger woman and has a daughter that is 16 turning 17. Says things like “I’ll depend on you and your sister for retirement.” Sister already asks for money for yearbook, back to school shopping, etc. I understand my fiance is her adult brother so it changes the dynamic a bit, but at the same time I had a job at her age or asked my parents. His Dad works the minimum he can and just spends like today is his last day.

I don’t want an uncomfortable situation when we get married. I already told him I want a prenup. I can see issues when it comes to this in the future.

I’m not opposed to helping some.
I am opposed to someone being dependent on us a LOT.

We (fiance and I) live in Southern California. It’s not easy to save as it is. His Dad also lives here.

I guess I can see myself having resentment toward his father in the future especially when we have kids… kind of like taking money from my kids in a sense.

How would you approach this situation?!

Gift Idea

What’s a good gift for our anniversary?

About my fiance:
- Cop
- former Marine
- loves guns & “boy stuff” lol

I have already bought him two watches so I don’t want to repeat lol he’s not a “gift guy” but I would like to buy him something nice.

Thoughts?

No S2S for Pre-Award

I’m at an institution that doesn’t have S2S.

What kind of process improvement have you done at your institution regarding pre award support services?
