Is it just me or does the Paraglider mod seem out of place?
I’m not dogging on the mod or anything, it’s a genuine good mod that offers a lot to not only traversal and exploration but gameplay, too, and is kind of mechanically revoluationary… but there’s just one thing.
It looks a little goofy.
Coming from BotW that pretty much introduced it to a broader audience, it finds its way in many Skyrim playthrough and mod lists but it feels a little encroaching on the Skyrim experience.
Roaming around Skyrim is filled with childlike wonder; you can go ANYWHERE, encounter creatures and people, both good and bad, find new places like caves with hidden tombs or forgotten relics of a lost race/people and get lost in the sauce of the world. Not to mention there’s *literally* dragons in the sky that are quickly destroying the world as their leader slowly devours it. It’s beautiful.
Paraglider mod changes all of that.
It completely ruins the experience of exploration in Skyrim. You are now constantly flying through the world and, while it’s pretty, the amazing and mysterious stuff on the ground is being neglected and it’s almost like it becomes obsolete in a way. It going against the grain of the game, period.
In my opinion, it also doesn’t look quite right in the game lorewise. I’m sure, maybe, in the lore, something like the PG (Paraglider) is possible but last time I checked, I don’t think it is? Maybe it could be something the Dwemer could make but I don’t really know Skyrim lore like that, so please — don’t quote me 🙏.
In a game like BotW, it works; you’re encouraged to actively use the PG when it comes to other gameplay features, it serves a purpose within the narrative, and most importantly, — it was actually MADE for the game. The PG mod is what it is in Skyrim.
A mod.
Now, of course, people who use this mod know that and pretty likely don’t care and see the Paraglider for what it is: convenience. I’m for one at fault for using mods that sometimes are a little lore-breaky but as I’ve grown older, I’ve appreciated a more faithful and consistent experience when it comes to epics and worlds that build upon said epics (any medium) with lore and laws of its world. To me, the PG just looks kinda goofy n’ silly and while convenient, it’s pretty immersion-breaking and only sets the player back from experiencing a breathtaking and rare, medieval fantasy experience +(2 XP). But I digress. Just giving my two cents.
I’d love to hear what you guys have to say. What do you think about it? Do you like the mod/don’t? Do you have it in your mod lists?
Sure, you get to see some of the best scenery of in Tamriel, but at what costs?
Playing LoreRim below the Ultra Preset Requirements?
Title. So I plan on playing LoreRim as it offers so much that I want out of Skyrim. Literally, it’s got every mod I’ve ever wanted. I plan on buying a new SSD next month so I can actually play the game and be ready for 5.0.
Only one small thing.
I’m literally JUST under the requirements for the Ultra Preset as these are my specs
GPU: 3080 10gb
Ryzen 7 5800x
32gb of RAM
I plan on playing on 1440p.
The issue is that while I would be able to run the default preset just fine, the ultra preset requires a gpu with 12-16gb of VRAM or higher. But truly, would 2gb of VRAM make a difference?
I guess my question would be, how bad would the performance be with a gpu of 10gb instead of the minimum requirements? Does anyone play on the ultra preset w/o it? Furthermore, how different does the game look from default and ultra? Yes, I asked on the discord but I wanted to ask you guys too to see if you guys have any differences in performance. I know things like VRAMR and frame generation make a huge difference and maybe I’ll definitely need that for the ultra preset if I go that route but I’m just a little nervous that default looks a little bad than ultra because I’ve seen some videos on YouTube and there is a noticeable difference in quality. Then again, YouTube videos render differently.
Let me know your guys’ experience!
Thoughts on Miraak as a Follower Mod?
Title. There was a very popular mod back in LE (also ported to SE) where you could get Miraak as a follower. Not only could you get him as a follower but there was a change in the last quest too.
My question: does this make sense lore wise? Like could this actually work and does it make sense? Wanna have it in my playthrough but was wondering if it’s too immersion breaking.
Experiences with LoreRim?
Title. I’ve been modding Skyrim for over a couple days now (been modding on and off for a decade but came back recently) and while I do love it, I think I’m burnt out and appear to be in an endless cycle of downloading mods, logging in Skyrim to fix the problem, playing for 5 minutes to see if something’s compatible or working, exit to figure out problem, fix load order, go back on, see if it’s fixed, then leave to get more mods and then repeat. It’s a tiring cycle and I realized that I won’t be satisfied, which is why I figured mod packs would suit me more better. One of the mod packs I found was LoreRim.
LoreRim has almost if not everything I’ve wanted in a mod pack with the exception of a couple of QoL improvements, niche armors from other games, and some companions and NPC replacers. While I can always consult the discord about compatibility, I wanted to ask you guys what your experience with LoreRim was/is if you played the mod pack? Is it worth the 600+ gb installation? What are the pros and cons? I know Requiem is on there and ik that’s a pretty divisive mod but LoreRim has made it a lot better both mechanically and thematically.
For someone who’s not new to modding Skyrim but trying a mod pack for the first time, is it worth?
Question for LoreRim…
Hi so I was looking at the mod list for LoreRim and it quite literally had everything I need, almost to the tea which is kinda scary but I love it! I’m planning on getting a beefier SSD so I can play it.
Only one thing.
I was looking at the modest and I noticed he didn’t have anything for Serana except SDE but like no replacers or anything.
Theoretically speaking, how difficult would it be to add Seranaholic or any replacer for her? That also goes with any other mod for LoreRim in general. Can you add more mods for the mod list or is it advised not to?
Thanks.
Sentinel and Bodyslide
Title. I hear Sentinel is the new go-to armor mod (I previously used things like Immersive Armor) and while it does look good, I know a common reason why people don’t usually have it as an essential in their mod list is because of body slide. I rotate between guy and girl characters but I plan on playing as a male this playthrough but I have used and currently have installed CBBE. I was going to download HIMBO too but turns out Sentinel doesn’t support bodyslides.
The patches for them are in the collection of mother mods that make up Sentinel and I wanted to ask if it was seriously worth it? I’d have to go into all of those armor mods and download each and individual patches for all of them just to use it with CBBE or HIMBO. Is it worth downloading those patches or will the armors still look fine on my character/followers with specific body types? Is it a drastic change or does it not matter much?
When to merge mods and when not to?
Title. Just got back into modding and have been wondering what the consensus is when it comes to merging mods, specifically optional files? For example, there’s the Ordinator - Perks of Skyrim main mod, and then the optional mod is you get a perk every 50-100 levels. Would it be okay to merge those or would you always suggest renaming it and keeping it separate?
Would this only count for smaller mods if the former or is it always best to have separate files period?
Seasons of Skyrim and xLodgen worth the hassle?
Title. I just got back into Skyrim modding since like 2022. While I have been modding since, like, 2018, I would still consider myself relatively amateur. I never had like 1000+ mods like most of you do, I think the most I had was like 200+. Now, I aim to be more ambitious and create a fuller modded experience.
I installed things like DynDoLod, Pandora, both of which, I never had before. Since I’m starting from scratch, i have yet to download a single “fun” mod, everything I’ve downloaded so far has been graphical; ENB, LUX, Embers XD, etc. so I could still fit Seasons of Skyrim in.
But is it worth it? It looks really cool but I’d have to install xLodgen and there really isn’t a video guide for that and I think the guide they have on their website is kinda confusing, plus I hear SoS is really annoying to set up and you basically have to work around it going forward in your LOD if you wanted to have any type of landscape/grass and texture overhaul mods. I’ve played the game many times before without even knowing it existed… although, I think it could be fun.
What do you guys think?
About to start modding again in the big 2026 - What’s changed?
Title. I haven’t modded Skyrim since like 2022. I’m sure things are primarily the same but as the years go by things come and go, new things are being made, a previous pioneering mod is now surpassed by another, and so on.
I wanted to know where could I start again? Like what videos to watch? I already have MO2 installed bc I’ve been playing with the VNV mod pack from Wabberjack. I also see that they also have a “Dragonborn’s Fate” guide which is a step by step on how to install your mods and make your game stable but is that outdated? Do I really need that guide? Or does it not matter?
I guess I’m just a little lost and could use some guidance.
Title. I have been playing overwatch for YEARS. Literally since it came out. I’ve played every single role in this game from tank, to DPS, to support, etc. I never really played DPS much though because I never had the best aim and I wasn’t really good at any DPS to play at a super high level or put in the effort too. I’d mainly play soldier, reaper, and now Anran. On DPS, I’d peak gold at best. Tanking and support was different, I’d be low to mid plat on tank and high to mid plat on support. Currently? Support is my strongest role, with my highest being plat 1. I only play one character: Moira.
Moira is just stupid easy. She has an easy fade, fast cd on her orbs, and her ult is fine enough that you could get quick picks if you pick the right perk. I do rotate between Kiriko and lifeweaver sometimes with the exception of Juno too but it’s mostly Moira. I’m a Moira one trick. So much in fact, I think I’m like level 200 something on her. I’ve been playing her since OW1 console days.
That’s the thing though. It feels like I have been hard stuck plat ever since this ow 2 came out. I’ll constantly go on streaks where I win then streaks where we lose so bad I go down a whole metal rank. Some of my friends have reached diamond and I’m still here… hard stuck plat. I’ve watched videos like those unranked to GM for Moira but those are lowkey bullshit bc there’s not really speaking for most players since those are literally pros playing at a higher level only smurfing. Every time I try to get serious at OW, I’ll get to plat, get high then go on a lose streak, rank down and then stop playing. I’ve played Ow 2 on and off so my gameplay is pretty inconsistent.
This month tho, for some reason, I’ve been steamrolling people that I’ve got out of gold 1 to plat 1 and I’ve been really trying to sweat and lock in so I can FINALLY get out of elo hell. Last week I was on a 7 game win streak. Flash forward to this week and a couple days ago to now, I’m on a 6-game loss streak that I’ve ranked down from plat 1 to now plat 3-4.
What the hell.
Okay, now look. Before you all start saying ANYTHING, I want to preface that I know everyone can do better in a game. There’s always a better play we could be making. I’m not going to say I’m making amazing game-changing plays 100% of the time but I’m doing a helluva lot for my team. Me and my friend are duoing and we keep getting terrible teammates. He was tanking for me and my other friend but then he got too high (diamond 4) and then he would rotate from dps to dual supporting with me but the people we get in our games are just atrocious and I really start to wonder when it stops being my fault? I’m starting to hit a wall where, the higher I get and the more sweaty games become, the more I realize that Moira is not good for EVERY situation so it’s probably best for me to pick up other supports and play/try them more but if people can get to GM or M one-tricking, why can’t I? Besides, I was literally 3 games away from diamond 5. Make it make sense.
I don’t know why the game puts you in so many loss streaks when you’re about to rank up. Before anyone says “oh it’s mental block and you subconsciously make mistakes when you’re about to win!!11” I don’t wanna hear it. I play to win and I try to do better each game and while I don’t have good games ALL the time, I am consistent and I am trying. It’s my teammates most of the time, but I don’t want to be that guy who doesn’t take 0 accountability, which is why I’m making this post bc genuinely— what am I doing wrong that I have been hard stuck for YEARS? Granted, I do play this game on and off, but bc I got so high in rank recently, I want to try harder.
Is it the one-tricking? Is it me? I don’t know. In Rivals, I made it to masters 3-4 and that’s the highest I’ve been in any competitive team hero-shooter PERIOD. But OW is not rivals.
Below I listed a game from about an hour ago and that’s roughly how I usually play. Even tho we lost, I thought I did my best.
What am I doing wrong?

OOTL: What’s the deal with Imperial, Krakoa, Ultimates, Midnight and Hickman?
Title. So I’ve been a fan of Marvel all my life. Out of the Big Two (if we’re excluding Image), I’ve favored Marvel more than DC just because I grew up with the characters more than I did with DC except for Batman, but I mean, who didn’t grow up with Batman? lol. Anyways, as I’ve gotten older I’ve much preferred DC because of their darker and more mature characters and storylines but I’ve still been a diehard marvel fan. One of my favs is Hickman.
It’s been like 10 or so years but I’m still on Hickman’s Avengers Saga, you know, the one that kickstarts the Incursions, Secret Wars and ANADM. So, safe to say I’m a little behind lol. The little bit that I’ve read and seen from people like ComicsExplained and Comicstorian, I really like Hickman’s work. So much so in fact that I bought the physical copies of the entirety of his Avengers Saga. So really all my knowledge on Hickman is because of that saga but that’s not the point of the post.
I kind of wanted to know what the deal with Hickman is recently? I know he did Krakoa, Imperial, the new and quickly deceased Ultimate line (which I’ve read a little bit of and that was also rlly good) and now Midnight. Fans and people alike are skeptical because of the past storylines and I kind of wanted to know why? What’s the deal with Krakoa, Imperial, and the end of Ultimates? Why do people have strong controversial opinions on it? I mean, I understand why for Ultimates but even that’s confusing because wasn’t it marvel editorial that cut the line and not Hickman? I don’t know, I’m not that well versed in current marvel comic politics since I’ve been more so reading DC and their newer stuff like the Absolute Line (which, funnily enough, was the response to Ultimates lol).
So yeah? What’s the deal with the past events and even Hickman as a writer for those who have read his stuff? Why do yall like him? What the problems are with the past events he’s written, and why is he so prolific today? I thought this subreddit was a good place to talk strictly Hickman considering this sub is based off HIS own work so.
Really interested in hearing what yall have to say!
Also pls for the love of god explain to me what Imperial is about. I know a tiny bit but not as much as I know about Krakoa/HoXPoX
Title. I’m just trying to look for a good spec for M+. I’ve leveled both Affliction and Survival, and while both are fun, I fear they both still miss the mark and void that Havoc filled back when I was playing it in the TWW — I LOVED DH. The class fantasy, how it flowed, it was perfect.
I wanted to try something different for the next season/xpac and while I haven’t exactly tried Subtlety, with the recent changes, it looks quite fun.
So what’s the state of the specs if you guys play either of them? I know Afflock is getting buffed in the next patch and hopefully it’s a better contender for M+. What do you guys think?
