and it’s the fact that there will be ZERO micro transactions at launch. ZERO company of MTs (pun wholeheartedly intended).

You might think this is a given with a single player game, but given the fact that this game is published by EA whose notorious for pumping as many micro transactions in games as possible, it’s definitely a shock. A good one, but definitely a surprising shock nonetheless.

Not to mention, the game will be 40 hours long!! Meaning, it’s about the same length as XCOM 2; we’re gonna have a lot of story to play and assuming the various difficulties, it’ll probably take people some time to really complete the game, which means for game for us!!

All in all, this game seems VERY promising and I cannot wait for its release. They haven’t shown much, but with the new info that we’ve heard so far, I’m really excited about everything!!

Or does the Avengers PLOT LEAK sound really good? Don’t get me wrong, it’s still very comic book-y but imo that’s what I like. Besides, people said the same bad things about it like what they did with Endgame plot leak. People thought it sounded like fan fiction or really bad but it ended up being really good and, I mean, it makes sense. Try telling a superhero story as a logline, especially with beloved IP and their characters — it’s gonna sound like fan fiction. It’s just how they execute it.

So, I’m really not worried. I think the concept sounds good, and the movie SHOULD do really well. The Russos haven’t really let us down and I don’t think this will be any different. Although, I could be wrong.

Looking for advice from fellow bros. For some reason, I feel like turning 23 is my “it” year and whatever I do now, in this current moment, shapes my future and changes the trajectory of my life. I’m looking forward to making some real changes, but most importantly, I’m excited and ready to grow, succeed, and fail.

Title. So, I didn’t update my iPhone for the longest time because I try not to update unless I ABSOLUTELY have to. Some of my apps weren’t detecting my camera and Face ID wasn’t working so I had to update to the current ver.

What the fuck

Why is this actually the worst thing ever? Everything looks bubbly and glassy and while I’ve made the necessary adjustments to reduce that “bubble” effect, I fear it’s still more or less the same looking. Not to mention, typing feels so much weirder now.

My BIGGEST issue and the namesake of this post is the swipe-up feature, like how you can see all the different tabs of apps you have. For some reason, the swipe-up immediately takes you to the Home Screen instead of pulling up the different taps. You’re either forced to swipe up to the Home Screen and then swipe up again to reveal the tabs but the issue there is that, it sometimes doesn’t even work or register properly.

OR

You’re forced to hold to swipe up to reveal the tabs. Even then, it doesn’t feel as seamless and smooth as it did before. I hope I’m making sense.

My question is is it a way to make this swipe-up better or will I just have to reroll back to my old version? If it’s the latter, then, i don’t even think I can anymore since some apps weren’t even detecting my camera or auto Face ID.

This year a lot of stuff happened to me that forced me to take a step back and look inward: I want to try and listen more instead of being loud and obnoxious. I want to watch and see the positive in others rather than the negative. All in all, I want to observe.

I have been lurking in this subreddit for about a couple years now, I think, probably 2 or so years ago so is when I really started to frequent here. That’s probably because that’s when I decided to start taking acting seriously.

So, that’s what I did — I transferred from my old university (it was closing so I had planned on going to a new school, but didn’t plan on majoring in theatre), went to a new uni, declared a double major for advertising and theatre and didn’t look back.

To say I’ve been successful is an understatement. Flash forward to today and I’ve gained so much knowledge. I’ve been learning the craft, my classes are filled with peers who have the same ambition and creativity like I do and it’s so infectious. Everyone on campus, at least the arts side, is always doing something, always trying something new, and being creative. I have an amazing mentor who I see as an extension of my family, I’ve got to be in some of the school season’s shows and, most recently, I got to perform in my first professional production as an u/s a couple months ago. In college. Already one professional credit down!

That’s not to say I didn’t have my ups and downs along the way because I certainly did. I don’t always create when I should, or audition for a lot of things, or whatever. But I will say that I’ve definitely learned a lot, a lot of which that’s made me heavily rethink my opinions on this subreddit.

I don’t say this as a means to brag or anything, that’s not my goal. Me telling you about the things I’ve done or experienced was more so providing context on my background and that I would like to think that I kind of know what I’m talking about.

First off, there’s so much negativity and blatant misinformation on this sub. For example, I remember seeing a post the other day about how you need a certain level of fame to work full-time as an actor, and I thought, “what?” That’s literally not true. I know plenty of people that are working rather comfortably full-time as working actors. Sure, maybe you could play devil’s advocate and say that the money’s going to be so wildly inconsistent and gig opportunities will come and go, and to actually work comfortably as an actor, a certain level of “fame,” will net you more job opportunities… fair, but fame = working full time as an actor is false — did we forget that cruise lines exists or the hundreds if not thousand of nameless union performers who work at other union theatre companies that work full-time? Hell, do I need to talk about the many performers on broadway right now who work… oh well what do you know, full time?

The life of an artist is going to be rocky; it’s going to require you to go do things for yourself, to create, to network, to hustle, and you’re probably going to need a day job when you start… but you can absolutely do it full-time, eventually, w/o becoming “famous.”

This industry has always been about luck, working hard, and networking. Talent is fine and dandy n’ all, but it’s going to get you nowhere if you don’t work for it.

The one thing I will agree with is that if you are trying to come into this career SOLELY seeking fame — you are in the wrong profession. Literally you could pick any other financial stable career and you just might make headlines. Acting, on the other hand? No. In fact, you’re lucky if you even get on the playbill.

Fame is not and should not be a metric for your success when it comes of this art form. If you correlate fame with success, you are going to have a *very* hard time. It also fosters this idea, a negative mindset that in order to be “good,” you have to achieve an otherwise unattainable and unlikely standard. Is it normal to want to become a “famous” actor? Yes! Can you want for that? Yes! Can you work *towards* that? Maybe but it shouldn’t be your main focus because the likelihood that it not only happens but happens the way YOU want it? It’s slim to none.

That also brings me to my next and final(?) point.

Acting is NOT easy. There’s also no good or bad — only the choices you make. With that being said, it’s actually so jarring to read posts that read, “can I make it into acting?” or “can I do [long, strenuous and lifelong career path] while acting???” or posts with people claiming to be “aspiring actors,” and trying to cut corners. I see a lot of this with people posting their self-tapes and that also confuses me.

A lot of people think that if you set up a camera and “show emotion,” you’ll instantly be booked, or how people will post a self-tape on this subreddit and it’s clearly them just reading from their phone or not trying at all.

The comments and replies are usually pretty nice and try to help out as best they can but the issue is that acting, as a craft, is so complex, nuanced, and requires so much from you both physically and mentally, that you cannot teach a whole class on self-tapes or techniques like substitution, endowment, or whatever in a single reply — there’s only so much you can do.

A lot of people on this subreddit think it’s so easy, that they’ll go record themselves a couple times, maybe take a class or two, and call it a day. In a way, I guess you could argue that this just weeds out the people who don’t really want it like most people do, and while you would be right, i think there’s a larger issue at play (no pun intended) with the stigma on acting and how “easy” it might seem to break into because people like Margot Robbie did the same thing. See, the difference there is that Margot Robbie actually never had any acting experience at all, she just looked really pretty and when asked if she could do stuff, she would lie and say she could and then learn during filming or just really kill it at her auditions. It also helps that she probably network and knew people, which is what a lot of people seem to leave out when it comes to “breaking into acting.”

The contrast here from real life is just so different; everyone’s happy and willing to create, play, and share their love for the craft but here everyone is either cranky they’re not getting booked, or it’s people who think they can breakthrough without doing much. Go figure, Reddit’s not the whole world That I know, and I also know I’m fortunate to be where I am; not a lot of people get to go to an arts school, get a BFA, or even take classes… but acting is also not something you can decide you want to do in the spur of the move or taught in a single reply. It’s a lot harder, higher stakes, financially unstable, and if you’re doing this for the fame, you can kiss this career goodbye… but it’s also such a rewarding profession and craft that you will can’t ever replicate the high that is just performing.

Title. I’m looking for a game to play when I’m high and need to just shut my brain off while watching YouTube, but is filling enough that I’m like actually making progression.

I’m not talking about games like Balatro, Chess, or even roguelites like Slay the Spire or Brotato (not really a big fan of roguelites). I mean games on the level of like Division or a wave game like Vermintide, where there’s not really a story so I don’t have to follow as much. So obviously something with a satisfying grind to gameplay; it can be any genre that’s not roguelite. I’m fine with action-adventure, RPGs (sparingly tho bc with RPGs you kinda have to pay attention) strategies, RTS, etc.

Before you guys recommend anything, here are the some I’ve tried and either loved, didn’t vibe with, or won’t use as a buffer game for this predicament for one reason or another.

I know I’m making this really hard but I hope I can find a game!

Title. I made a post yesterday asking if there any games nearly as close to Fallout: NV in terms of story and player choice. While everyone gave great advice and insight, especially about VTMB, I kept seeing comments saying try Pillars of Eternity 2 and Divinity: Original Sin.

While both look interesting, which should I get first? I’m really looking for story, player choice but combat/gameplay is a big plus. I’ve heard DOS2 Is really good when it comes to gameplay and POE2 for story. My question is does DOS2 have a serviceable story that I could still enjoy the gameplay but story too? Or do you recommend to go full POE2? I’ve played Baldur’s Gate 3 so I am familiar with Larian but is DOS2 on the same level as that in terms of story?

Title. I beat Fallout NV a couple weeks ago and I’m still not over it. While I think Baldur’s Gate is still one of my favorite RPGs of all time, the amount of choice and consequence NV offers is just unmatched to this day. While BG was expansive, it had its own narrative and wanted you to follow it. Fallout New Vegas let you decide to do whatever the fuck you wanted to do. The fact there still quite hasn’t been that level of agency in modern RPGs today is outstanding.

So I’ve come to this subreddit in hopes of looking for other games like Fallout New Vegas in terms of player-choice, story, and length. Before yall recommend some, here are the ones I’ve played.
