Ayush Shetty eases past Dumindu Abeywickrama and moves into R16 at the BWF World Championships: 21-8, 21-10

Ayush is 32 cms (1 foot 0.6 inches) taller than his opponent of today 😭

Abeywickrama had beaten Ayush in their previous meeting in straight games. Ayush finds his revenge and moves into the Round of 16 as the sole Indian player left in the men’s singles draw.

Sandra Bullock has TWO films in her career where she loses both her parents, lies to her SO’s beautiful family (which has a granny who is very close to a heart attack), slowly falls for him, feels guilty about the deception, confesses the truth at the altar, and gets chased down by him in the end. 😭

I mean, these are two films with completely different vibes but I couldn’t help but notice the weirdly specific trope in both haha.

While You Were Sleeping is so GOATED though. 🥺

TIL that in Game of Thrones, they used a prosthetic arm for Jaime Lannister instead of chopping off Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s real hand.

What’s a film with a stellar cast that feels strangely under-discussed?

My pick: Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows (I’d actually pick both Guy Ritchie films but the second one has a RIDICULOUSLY stacked cast that it’s SO good!)

And this film is still strangely underrated in its own way. I’m one of those people STILL waiting for the 3rd film that would probably never ever happen, ugh.

So what’s your pick for a film with a 10/10 cast that doesn’t get brought up as often as it should be in your opinion?

I’ll always be heartbroken that they cut Wille’s hair short because we didn’t get any more of Simon adjusting his hair while kissing him 🥺

Ugh why….??!

The Lego version of The Amazing Spiderman 2 took the “I know it feels like we’re saying goodbye, but we will carry a piece of each other into everything that we do next” part too seriously

What’s a line from a film you love that gets forgotten among all the iconic catchphrases?

Mine’s from Jerry Maguire when Dorothy tells her sister she loves Jerry and goes: “I love him for the man that he wants to be, and for the man that he almost is.”

It’s just so beautiful to hear the way she says it.

Jerry overhearing them is one of the BEST scenes in the entire film. “Easy, ladies. Easy. No, no. We bottom-feeders prefer cereal first.” Lmao.

Many people won’t recall this one immediately because “You had me at hello” or “You complete me” or “Show me the money” are the iconic catchphrases from this film lol.

We do tend to generally talk a lot about iconic lines from films and shows. What are the lines from films you personally love that get overshadowed by the more popular ones?

Which actor has the most depressing filmography?

By “depressing” I mean the characters they play and the worlds their films inhabit. I’m talking about actors who seem to specialize in heartbreak, loss, tragedy, doomed relationships and absolutely miserable endings.

My pick is Michelle Williams. Looking through her filmography, it feels like this woman has been emotionally destroyed on screen in approximately 80% of her movies lmao. She’s a complete wreck and can’t catch a break in so many of her films.

Who’s your pick?

(Also, a quick shoutout to Casey Affleck here lol.)

Yami Gautam’s portrayal of Shazia Bano in Haq is truly one of the most impactful performances in recent times.

I watched it last year and decided to rewatch it recently. And I was left in tears once again by how beautifully she managed to capture every single emotion, all throughout the film. She absolutely deserves a lot more praise and appreciation for this role.

Haq is one of the best movies to have come out last year. The OST is still severely underrated, imo. It’s just amazing and elevates the whole film to another level.

What are the plots/sub-plots in films or shows that made you go: “What tf were they thinking?!”

In The Judge (2014), the real crime isn't the murder that's on trial. It's Robert Downey Jr. making out with his ex's daughter before finding out she's his own brother's daughter... and then getting back together with the ex anyway and becoming his niece's stepdad.

He took so many chances to get the bigger one but finished the smaller one in his first try. This happened in Shanghai 2025.
