Fingerstyle Punk Bass

Planning to get an EQ pedal, Punk has been a favorite genre of mine and I don't like using picks due to my wrist cramping or sweating.

I tried EQ pedal before and the p bass at the store felt more impactful.

I wanna know on how to cut through the mix without being too distracting

3 Band Non Graphic EQ guide

I'm a Jazz Bass user and I need a guide for EQ before buying a pedal, so I'll use my amp, and also a Jazz bass pickup and passive tone guide as well, since I wanna swap tones on the fly

EQ pedal

I was playing with my fingers and man I was blown away for how it reminded me of a pick tone when I did some tweaking.

Can an EQ pedal SAVE bad bass tones? Can it mellow or crunchen up tones that wouldn't normally be crunchy or mellow?

I don't own one currently and it's my current fixation

Not a fan but

The first exposure I had was with Attack and then The Kill, on Spotify randomizer after playing some fall out boy.

Attack's synth and bassline with the vocals elevated me to a new level.

I didn't know the guy from Morbius was the vocalist

Carlos Basslines on fingers

I prefer fingerstyle over pick and when I covered obstacle 1 I found that the natural tone of a finger can fit well, but even then I tried slapping on the octave parts and they didn't do well on dropped d.

Songs like evil aren't changed but something like The New felt flat

For J Bass users who use solo pickups sometimes, what do you do with hum?

I'm currently recording on a phone as I have no better recording hardware.

I don't own a noise gate but im planning to buy an EQ pedal and I decided to plug my bass into the low channel with increased volume and not 12 o'clock on high.

I've tried doing solo Bridge Pup for a budget stingray and the hum + tone knob buzz hurts to hear, do you usually use a DAW noise gate?

Next song?

I learned Obstacle 1 on interpol using fingers (it's a pick song and I can play it with a pick).

I wanna learn something similar that's medium difficulty, maybe some J-Rock/Metal since their guitars can hook me on playing or Alt/Prog Rock that isn't too difficult.

Tone Knob feedback with a J

Bridge PuP only, even Both PuPs or Neck Pups, if I thumbrest I can nullify the sound, If I fret there's nullification but it's still big, I have a small room, I'm using a 3ft Cable and playing 2 ft away, the tone knob produces this zinging even by slightly cranking it.

Jazz Bass and Amp Feedback

I have a 3ft Cable and aware of J Bass Hum, when I isolate one pickup I hear more noise, when I isolate bridge it's very annoying because it's more loud.

My J Bass pickups have been wet sometimes by some rain water and drinking water, same for my amp. Tone makes a separate feedback grow and even using both pickups doesn't fix the issue

Cutting Through the Mix

I primarily play fingers as I am mediocre at picking and learn picked bass songs with fingers.

I cannot afford to replace strings frequently, using roundwounds and a 3 band EQ.

I wanna cut through metal mixes but I can't grow my nails for hygiene reasons

3 EQ Knobs and Tonal Variety

I use a J Bass.

I've watched a Bassbuzz video on EQ tone and I want to access some tones but I only got a mid knob and not a low and high mid, I do not own any other amp or EQ.

Can anyone give me a reference of Low And High Mids vs one Mid knob?

How to apply music theory?

I know Every mode and how to form chords but when I practiced with a backing track (i was in drop d) I relied on shapes to play 5ths and sometimes 3rds along with the root. I couldn't memorize the formulas for 7th chords and I'm not ear trained to recognize chord progressions and even apply the modes except major, minor, mixolydian and lydian.

I was improvising and I use key signatures to tell me the chords but I'm even not following the drums sometimes.

Carlos vs Paul

Ive listened to all of the first 3 albums, some of self titled, all of El Pintor, some Marauder and TOSOMB.

I'd compare Brad after I listen to TMWAT.

Carlos' Basslines are more complex, with the octave jumps, riffing and sometimes not playing a "bassline" to go create a line on the High End, prevalent in ToTBL.

El Pintor Paul has a more laid back note choice and basic rhythm but it fills the space needed with Daniel's Guitar (like Tidal Wave).

Headset issue I want to avoid

I have a new headset that's pretty much just my old headset.

It's meant for PC with a mic, but I wanted to avoid the mistake that bent the cable from my previous when using on phone, usually I wrapped the excess wire around me to stop the very long wire but now I'm scared I'll make that mistake since that's my only headphone for the moment

Giving up easily

For example a song with variations, that's my current weakness because repetitiveness is what makes a song easy for me even though I know variations are what drive music, I've played for 3 months and can only play smells like teen spirit plucked. My music taste isn't very popular so they barely get covered.

Larping

My main pc broke, but it was at it's worst 2 months ago due to shutdowns, I never got to fight GMS at all.

Now, I larp the game because I can't finish it and act 3 looks so good

Music Taste and 1st somg

I love the Band Interpol so I gave their song Obstacle 1 a try, but there are many rhythm shifts after the 2nd chorus with 16th notes being common that I wanted to give up.

I like Shoegaze, Punk and subgenres and am getting into some metal.

(I'm not using a pick because of sweat.)

Kwamis

Who's your favorite Kwamis in terms of personality and abilities?

Duusu is so cute, Sass and Wayzz have the speaking quirk that makes them all the noticable. Plagg in general and Fluff because she's used by my favorite character (Alix)

Comedic Stuff

What things do you think are funny in the series? I consider the shinigamis (Except Rem and Gelus) as funny, Ryuk's design and his laughs are funny when me and my younger sister watched i laughed, same for Sidoh and that Mello closeup.
L is so funny especially that "Indeed it would be Dark" Dub line.
A spedup footage of Near taking of the L mask and it cuts to him smiling is pretty funny to me.

How to navigate through my knob design problem + EQ

My J Bass has no "indicator" on the knobs, so my tone knob slightly up has that same "crunch" as tone knob full, and i dont know if i can play at a certain volume with the signature scooped sound of both pickups on.
And what does Bass EQ actually do? I heard tone knob removes high end frequencies but I heard Bass EQ subtracts and increases everytime you dial a new tone
