My gf (28F) isn't adapting to my (28M) sleep schedule change even though we talked about it and it's messing me up, how can I explain it to her?

In the past, I used to work from home entirely, and could start work a bit later than the average fellow. This suited my gf well, as she is a night owl student used to staying up super late. It meant that she could come over late, stay at my place however long it suits her, and I could drive her back/she could walk back. She lives with her parents, so my place is the only one where we really spend time (other than out ofc)

After a while, I realized this wasn't gonna work and I simply wasn't getting enough sleep. So I pushed back a bit, and we did reduce the frequency of super late hangouts, though they still happened. But I could make it work.

Until recently when I got shifted to another project which needs me to come in at 9am, Monday thru Wednesday. This has been a big shift, but I'm getting used to it. My gf however, is not.

After the first week I told her - hey, I know it sucks and we'd both prefer it the old way but you gotta work with me and adapt with me. I can't be going into office without enough sleep, I feel like a zombie.

She said she understood fully and she did make some effort towards it, but... We're still constantly having days where I don't get enough sleep. Oftentimes this is because we plan multiple activities for the day, but for one reason or another she will arrive way later than we initially agreed. So there's like 1-2 hours until the time where I should go to bed to get my 8 hours. And I can't just tell her - well, time's up, off you go! Especially on days where she was late because e.g. she felt bad or depressed or something.

I just think, as a student whose only job is to study and take exams now (she's done with all her lectures), she's completely lost the sense on what it's like to have fixed-time obligations during the day. Time is a very ephemeral construct to her - she can stay up till 6:30 am and then sleep until 3pm, who cares.

How can I seriously explain to her how big of an issue this is? And that I don't want to see her less, I actually want her to adapt and compromise for the relationship

When I was 16, I got so angry with my mum that I painted the shower red.

I was at an age where I was arguing with my parents a lot, as do many teenagers. I can’t remember what the fight was about, but I just remember it made me so angry, that I just had to let out my frustration somehow.

So I locked myself in the bathroom and cried. I was devastated about the argument, and felt misunderstood and frustrated that my mum wouldn’t listen to what I had to say. So I painted the shower red. With some craft paint and a tiny paintbrush I found in my room, I started painting angry faces with devil horns, curse words, you name it!!! I was PISSED!!! Eventually I decided to go completely rogue and just painted the entire screen door red, then the adjacent glass, then the tiles, and even some of the shampoo bottles. When both glass panels were completely red, I stood back and admired my work. I thought to myself ‘take that mum!’ And probably held up my middle finger. I thought this was what justice looked like, and it was exhilarating. All the while I was terrified of my mum walking in.

Eventually after a while I obviously had to wash it off, and to my surprise it came off pretty easily just with the shower water- albeit the bathroom looking like a crime scene in the process. It took me a while. That was over a decade ago, and sometimes when I’m visiting home I’ll notice a tiny speck of red paint still inside the shower door frame and remember that afternoon. I’ve never told anyone and my parents never found out.

My partner does not allow me alone time, ever.

You might think this is an exaggeration, but it is not. I'm typing this on the shitter because its the only few minutes i really get at times before he comes checking on me. At first, i thought it was charming that he wanted to spend out off days together. But his job was flexible with scheduling so he made sure we have every single off day together. And he always wants me around him, even if i just want alone time because he says he dosent understand why people who love eachother need personal space. I havent had the house to myself spare a few days ive swapped with someone on the schedule in the past few weeks. Hes always breathing down my fucking neck and im just so exhausted of being around him. I love him to death but this feels borderline psychotic

I’m 24F and my boyfriend 26M deleted 10,000 photos of us within days of our breakup and now wants them back.

I’m 24F, and my boyfriend is 26M.
We were together for 2 years, but we’ve known each other for 4 years.

We broke up recently, and within a few days of the breakup, he deleted every single photo of us. We were apart for only about 2 weeks before we got back together, and we’ve now been back together for 2 months.

The part that’s really bothering me is that he deleted around 10,000 photos. They weren’t backed up, so he knew he would never get them back.

His explanation was that he kept looking at the photos after the breakup, got stuck in a loop, and deleted them so he could stop going through them over and over again.

What also bothers me is that he didn’t tell me any of this for 2 months. He told me today and said he regrets it. Now he’s asking me to send all the photos back to him.
I know people handle breakups differently, but I can’t stop wondering: was it really that easy to delete 4 years of memories within just a few days?

Even if we had never gotten back together, I don’t think I would have deleted them. To me, those memories would still matter, even if the relationship ended.

If your partner deleted every photo from your relationship within days of a breakup, how would you interpret it?

Edit: For everyone asking how we have 10,000 pictures. We’ve known each other for 4 years and we’re also part of the same friend group. We’ve been on so many trips together, so these aren’t just pictures of the two of us. They’re group photos, random fun moments, activities, trips, scenery, food, literally everything. It’s basically 4 years of memories all in one place, not just 10,000 pictures of him and me.

My husband wants me to get an abortion. I do not.

I'm eight weeks pregnant. We have a 5.5 year old who is going to start kindergarten next week.

When we got together 13 years ago, I was very upfront about wanting several children. He said he was open to two.

Flash forward, 7 years later we have our son and I'm the primary breadwinner. I made 95k, my husband maybe 38k. We both worked full time, my job being slightly more demanding (on 24/6, essentially) but we contributed equally to the house and when I worked weekends, he would more than pick up the slack. Things are ok but we have my student loan to pay off and the cost of living sucks etc.

I developed a drinking problem. Partially due to work stess, patrially due to depression. A severe drinking problem that made him justifiably lose a lot of trust in me. I went to rehab and have been doing well but still struggle and regularly attend AA meetings to keep on track.

We downsized to a small apartment (3 bedroom) last year after I was laid off as a result of loss of business. It was a start up manufacturing facility that couldn't justify an HR Manager salary.

Now, in our small apartment, me still out of work, I discover I'm pregnant. My first response is panic and joy at once. My husband wants nothing to do with the pregnancy. He said if I go through with it, he is done. He says he has been carrying this family.

I don't want it. Our marriage is strained, had been leading up to this. But I'm 36 and have high earning potential once I get back on my career trajectory. I never signed up for an only child (not that there's anything wrong with that).

I will resent him. Or he will resent me.

My partner (30M) and I (31F) just found out he got someone pregnant right before we officially started dating. Where do I go from here?

My partner and I met in December 2025 and went on our first date on NYE. We clicked instantly and have the same views on all the important stuff - religion, politics, life goals, not wanting children, etc. Our communication was the healthiest I’ve ever experienced - we talked through anything and everything that came up, big or small, which was an entirely new experience for me after a couple unhealthy, codependent relationships I’d been in in the past. However, due to my tendency toward codependence and his mental health at the time (unrelated to us, just a meds issue), by March it became clear that the healthiest way forward was for us to take a step back and take some of the pressure off each other so we could focus on ourselves. We agreed to continue our relationship platonically, with no strings attached and no promises to wait for the other to be “ready.” If we met someone else during this time, there would be no hard feelings. Little did we know that one dumb decision during this time would end up changing the course of everything.

After 3 months (now June) of therapy, self-reflection, meds adjustments, and occasional coffee chats, it became clear that the feelings we had for each other weren’t going anywhere, and more importantly, we were both in a much better place to be a good partner for each other. So, we decided to try it again, this time taking each day at a time. No pressure, just enjoying each other’s company and going on adventures together.

Since then, the last two months have been pure joy. Going on day trips every couple weekends, cooking together, going through a list of movies we wanted to show the other. It was everything we wanted it to be in the beginning and more. We just started using “we” instead of “I” when talking about the future, and I had even started wondering when one of us would slip and say the L word. So, you can imagine my shock when I get a call from him at 11:00pm while he’s at work, telling me that he just learned he’s going to be a dad.

After a good 10 seconds of stunned silence, by first question was how. He explained that during the 3 months we were platonic (May-ish), his friends set him up with one of their friends. They went on a few dates over the course of 3 weeks, but he ended things because they didn’t have much in common. He said that he was drunk the two times they slept together, and she had told him at the time that she was infertile (never conceived with multiple past partners despite never using contraceptives). Apparently this was either a lie or he has supersperm or something, because she is three months pregnant now, she’s keeping it, and she claims it’s his.

I won’t get into all the questions I had for him - if you’re thinking it, I’ve already asked it. And because he is who he is, he answered every single one of them, taking full responsibility without a shred of defensiveness. He is in as much shock as I am, except he can’t escape it. It is ultimately up to him to decide whether he wants to be any part of this child’s life (she gave him the option to opt in or out), and that has to be his decision alone. But I can’t help but feel like I’d be disrespecting myself to stick around for this. One of the things we bonded over in the beginning was how certain we were that we didn’t want children, for our own individual reasons, and for shared reasons. And now this person, who was just a blip in his timeline, is going to become a permanent fixture in his life, along with their child. And I just don’t know if that’s what I want for my life.

So, do I sacrifice the healthiest relationship I’ve ever had to avoid being involved in this complicated situation, or do I stick with it and trust that things will work out for everyone involved? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Husband yelled at me whe I was trying to be playful/silly. Was I in the wrong here?

30yo female. Questioning if i am undiagnosed AuDHD. Growing up, my father went mute on us from the ages of 13-25 and my therapist definitely thinks there is a similar diagnosis there that i am now pondering if its been passed down to me lol.

Basically, this was the scenario:

*Husband of 7+ years comes home after a long stressful shift* *We hug and talk briefly.*

Me: "would you like your bedtime tea?"

Husband: *doesnt respond. Goes out to get stuff from his car then comes back in.*:

Me: "so did you want tea?"

Husband, in a stressed tone: "Geez, can I just have a moment to gather myself and de-clutter? You know ive been out ALL day."

Me: *goes non verbal and presses my face into the wall, pretending to dissapear from accidentally upsetting/overwhelming him*

Husband: *proceeds to start yelling at my for being childish, not understanding him, and for "trying to make him feel guilty".

/cut scene

Mind you, we have bedtime tea every night around 930pm, and he came home at 10pm so i was a little eager to get back into routine and its not a strange thing for me to ask. I do feel like i come across as childish, but t thats literally me when im at my most comfortabke with somebody and i wish i knew how to change it...

I did tell him i wasnt upset and me facing the wall wasnt me trying to sulk or make him feel bad. I was literally facing the wall, quietly smiling at myself for not noticing that i migjt have been overbearing. In my mind i thought it was jjst a playful thing i was doing, and at the same time i was physically giving him the space he needed from me. Our kitchen is small and he was blocking the only exit... so i literally had nowhere else to go lol.

We are now not talking for the remainder of the night.

The sucky thing is we had a fight similair to this only a couple of months ago and i thought we were in a better place.

Idk i just feel stupid but also unlovable. Any advice appreciated xx

our office move turned into hunger games but for chairs

our company moved floors over the weekend and facilitates told everyone not to worry because our stuff would be moved to the same assigned desk.

came in Monday and that was mostly true.

except for the chairs.

apparently someone decided chairs were just chairs and randomly distributed all of them.

people immediately started walking around checking seat cushions like they were identifying missing pets.

one guy literally yelled WHO HAS MY STEELCASE from across the floor.

I found my nouhaus three departments away with someone from accounting sitting in it.

she was actually super nice and immediately gave it back, but then we had to figure out whose chair SHE had been given.

that led to another person.

then another.

by 10am there were like six adults rolling chairs around the office trying to rebuild the original seating arrangement.

facilities eventually sent an email asking everyone to stop moving furniture without approval.

bro YOU started this 😂

Accepted a job that wasn’t offered. Mortified.

I am not the OOP. The OOP is u/So_Ill_Continue posting in r/GirlDinnerDiaries

Concluded as per OOP

1 update - Short

Original - 7th July 2026

Update - 12th August 2026

Accepted a job that wasn’t offered. Mortified.

FML

Interviewed for a job last week. It’s exactly what I want to do, near where I live, and would be a massive pay increase.

I’m a recent grad so I don’t have much experience with “real” job interviews, which comes into play here. The interview went really well - she seemed really impressed with my resume, said she could do the top of my salary request, talked extensively about how she wanted me to start ASAP. I offered to ask my job if I could leave early and let her know (my contract is nearly up and they’ve got another person lined up for after me, so I thought they might not need the typical 2 weeks). At the end, she asked me if I wanted a few days “to think about it.” I assumed this was an offer, which I sent an email accepting a few days ago. Told my whole family about the awesome job I’d secured.

A few days pass and they email me that they are still reviewing applications and conducting interviews. How embarrassing - my face is on fire. The embarrassment is so strong that I honestly feel a little sick. Now I know to wait for the offer in writing so that there are no misunderstandings. Or maybe I’ll just go live in the woods and never interview again.

Oh and to top the day off, my dentist told me I need to avoid “crunchy, sticky, or chewy” foods because I think I have TMD. Combined with my anti inflammatory food limitations, that’s just….everything. She suggested steamed vegetables.

McDonald’s cheeseburgers, fries, and nuggets because today sucked and I might as well feel shitty too.

Comments

Old-Session6649

I’m sorry but all of her comments truly made it sound like you got the job and was just pending an official offer letter or something similar. This sucks and I’m sorry. It’s not your fault! I hope you get something even better soon!

mamachonk

Recruiter of 20 years here... that sounds quite confusing. Nothing for you to be embarrassed about!

>OOP: God hearing that it wasn’t normal from a recruiter really means a lot. 🥹 I just felt like such a dolt but maybe I’m just unlucky lol

mamachonk

She could just not be a great communicator, or maybe she thought she had the green light and the Hiring Manager told her to hold up. Ya never know! Good luck! And if they don't come through with a written offer, you frankly dodged a bullet.

candoitmyself

Hey!! Don’t sweat it. By your account the interviewer offered you the job. I would be confused too and I have decades of interview experience.

>OOP: Thanks this helps. I feel like a total idiot but maybe it would have confused more people than just me. I still don’t know what she wanted me to consider over a few days 😭.

Ready-Read3918

Talking about you starting ASAP and asking if you wanted a few days to think about it.. lowkey is a job offer. This is 10000% on the company and not on you. THEY should be embarrassed, not you.

>OOP: That’s what my sister keeps telling me but boy howdy, it’s hard to accept. My face was legit burning so bad I felt like a cartoon

Update - 1 month later

So last I left off, the employer emailed me to say that they’d let me know when they’d actually made a choice. That was more than a month ago, and I never heard back. I was notified by LinkedIn that they’d viewed my resume 3+ times in the interim, which was definitely a bit of false hope that I didn’t need lol.

At this point, the pressure was really starting to get to me. My current job is ending at the end of August, and my savings are slim. I have roommates and a dog that are counting on my ability to pay rent (and other bills). I was having trouble sleeping and my skin was breaking out, which almost never happens. I was really struggling to keep my cool.

Thankfully, today I accepted a job with a HIGHER salary than the non-offer! Is it in the subfield I want? ✨No✨ But i can get my feet wet, learn some things, make good money, and then maybe transition down the line. Plus, it’s apparently a comparatively easy subfield, which isn’t a bad way to start off.

Yes, I am actually sure it’s an offer this time. It’s in writing and everything!

Thank you to everyone who commented last time. The support, jokes, reassurance, and advice truely helped me immensely. I was really in the dumps and feeling awful about myself and you all disrupted that spiral in an amazing way. I’m extremely grateful.

Dinner was gnocchi soup that my lovely roommate made. I added a bit of tobacco and it was delish.

Comments

mensfrightsactivists

you can… cook with tobacco? did you mean tabasco? CONGRATS THO!!! i remember your original post, im soooo glad there’s a happy ending to this story even though its with a different company.

>OOP: Oh my god yes, Tabasco. The hot sauce. My terrible spelling strikes again! And thanks!

WarriorInWoolworths

Now I’m nosy and have to know the field! But it’s nice to see something good sprout up around here that I’m able to catch for once!

>OOP: Ok so I was avoiding saying it in the first post and then was going to say it this post (because I highly doubt they look at this subreddit), but I couldn’t work it in naturally.

>So when I made the post, I was going into Family Law (I’m a new attorney), but since then I actually got offered by a civil rights firm that I didn’t think was going to offer me and accepted that instead. I originally wanted to be a criminal attorney but ngl I’m pretty excited about civil rights law and the salary is just as high!

>Also I’m also nosy af so I can totally relate and didn’t want to leave you hanging when there was really no need lol

I am not the OOP. Please do not harass the OOP.

Please remember the No Brigading Rule and to be civil in the comments

Eavesdropping on my teenage daughter

It’s a lazy morning at home. I (49f) am reading in my bedroom. My kid (14f) is in the living room watching a “horror movie” on her phone. I put it that way because it’s mainly a comedy type- jump scares and the “don’t go in there!” level, no real gore, etc. The main characters are a K-Pop group she’s very into right now, so please don’t come for me! Anyway, she is using her headphones and I think she forgot I can hear her.

She is so totally invested in this. Every few minutes, she’ll exclaim something along the lines of “Nonononono don’t DO that!” or “OMG, run!!” There are gasps and occasional laughter. She is clearly completely absorbed in this film.

When we watch something together, she is not like this in the slightest. In the “too cool for school” teenager mode or whatever. Occasionally she’ll make a comment or joke, and I’ll maybe get a few eye rolls, but absolutely nothing like what is going on in my living room currently.

I’m totally eavesdropping and loving every second.
