What should I do:

Need Genuine Advice. I'm Completely Confused About My Future.

Hi everyone,

I'm from Kolkata, West Bengal, and I'm honestly in one of the most confusing phases of my life. I really need unbiased advice from people who have been through something similar.

I appeared for CUET this year with the dream of pursuing BA/BSc Economics. Unfortunately, I didn't get the course I wanted. Instead, I got B.Sc. Mathematical Sciences at PGDAV College, University of Delhi.

The problem is that I don't think this course suits me.

I'm not someone who enjoys mathematics. I can manage basic maths, but I never wanted to study it in depth for the next three years. On top of that, I haven't studied Computer Science since Class 8, so the thought of entering a course that may involve programming or computational subjects is making me very anxious.

The difficult part is that I've already paid the admission fees and even booked my train tickets to Delhi. My family has spent a significant amount of money on this process, and I feel guilty because I'm now questioning whether this is the right decision.

Another thing is that my family doesn't know that I didn't get the course I truly wanted. They believe I got admission into Delhi University, and that's all. I'm scared to tell them how uncertain I feel because I don't want them to think all the money and effort has gone to waste.

Now I'm stuck between several options:

Go to Delhi, join PGDAV College, complete B.Sc. Mathematical Sciences even though I don't think I'll enjoy the course.

Take a partial drop, prepare for CUET again, and try to get Economics next year while studying somewhere.

Stay in Kolkata and join a local college for my undergraduate degree.

Do my undergraduate from an open university and prepare for CUET or other opportunities alongside.

I'm also worried that if I choose the wrong option now, I'll regret it for the next three years. At the same time, taking a drop or changing plans after spending so much money feels frightening.

If you were in my position, what would you honestly do?

Is it worth going to Delhi just because it's Delhi University, even if the course isn't what I wanted?

Is taking a partial drop a practical decision?

Would choosing a local college for Economics be a better option than forcing myself through a course I don't like?

Has anyone here switched courses after a year or been in a similar situation?

Please be honest. I really need guidance because I feel completely lost right now.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

TL;DR: I'm from Kolkata and got B.Sc. Mathematical Sciences at PGDAV College (DU), but I wanted BA/B.Sc. Economics. I don't enjoy mathematics, haven't studied computers since Class 8, and I'm worried this course isn't the right fit for me. I've already paid the admission fees and booked my tickets to Delhi, so a lot of money has been spent. Now I'm confused whether I should join DU anyway, take a partial drop and prepare for CUET again, join a local college, or choose an open university. I'm looking for honest advice on what would be the best decision for my future.

I used chat gpt for grammar correct please comment your views :)
