Very interesting hospital visit

so as of now - theres no wheezing . but im tight the dr said . A few days ago i experienced an attack to the point i couldnt speak . while using my neb … i was gasping . after my neb my oxygen was 93 which is my usual ! but holy crap it felt i was being kicked in the stomach :(

i went to the er cause i was having continued symptoms despite being on EVERYTHING you can think of . Yes that includes long term pred .

the exam wasnt horrible horrible but the dr seemed a bit stumped ! in a way i was a bit relieved cause im like … well im not making this shit up - somethings going on . im not bad enough for admission but theres something CHRONIC going on despite EVERYTHING .

has anyone dealt with stuff like this ? sometjmes i have eoisodes of shortness of breath so bad i cry lol

Night anxiety and restlessness

last year i got sick out of the blue and was taken to ER by ambulance and was admitted. even the hospital said i was anxious and scared . since then i been anxious and restless at night cause im scared and need reassurance im okay . one night during the admission my vitals dropped it wasn’t critical but enough for drs to be concerned , since then ive needed melatonin to help sleep cause im always checking my vitals even when im feeling somewhat okay . im always on high alert , and sometimes im up all night barely sleeping or having nightmares . Minute i start feeling bad at night i get scared cause i think im deteriorating and my oxygen is getting bad . in the observation unit my oxygen went to 88 i know its not critical but my clinical presentation wasnt good .

i just want peace and to relax , watch a movie and shut off my mind

Brittle asthma

i want to share something with yall . i was in and out of hospital every day last year . getting intense treatment , nebs , iv treatment , including lactate ringer which idk why would make my asthma worse . Id be on oxygen therapy as well . i was on a biologic called nucala , basically keeping me outta the ward or even ICU .

ive been evaluated for bipap , thankfully i just just just responded well enough to hospital care so i didnt need it . guess what ? my PFT was normal . better than normal . drs were stumped af … as months went by it progressed to getting worse to a bit better by 10 % but no major improvement .

when i was at my worst , my lung function was the best . for those who are struggling but are getting normal Pft , this is normal , extreme asthma can do this until it starts to show on bloods such as high esoinophils ( if youre on a biologic ) . if drs are dismissing you , consider a new dr before it becomes severe in blood work and lung function . not just in the ED .

one ER dr said my asthma was brittle and i needed admission . some pulmonary drs base these things on SYMPTOMS AND TESTS all at once . Its dangerous. thankfully i got a great dr now at my hospital whos very knowledgeable about asthma , from ICU level to mild .

Today : when youre dying ill take you to the hospital

me: okay so when i get suspected NTM lung infection again you can put up with me having a mental crisis

background story : i had a killer asthma attack 3 years ago, i was blue and grey , got pneumonia a week later my lung function declined 20% and my chest xray was weird and my dr thought i had an NTM infection

i had a near deadly asthma attack 3 years ago - he thinks thats the only time to seek care

i basically raw dogged an attack for 6 weeks … thought it was bronchitis, i turned blue/ grey by the time i got to the ER couldnt speak or walk . sats were terrible . my dad thinks only time an asthmatic should seek care is when theyre ready for critical care . i had complications from that attack . week later i got pneumonia, and then acute drop in lung function about 20 % . my allergist thought i cought a bacterial infection in hospital that cystic fibrosis patiants get ! it was a real dark time for me .

how does waiting / raw dogging an asthma attack benefit me or my mental health ?

even long term prednisone makes me feel im faking

i have severe asthma . i been put on it for MAXIMUM control . I am not fully controlled on it but its not to the point where i need aggressive therapy in hospital all the time anymore unless i try to run a marathon or get a viral illness . i feel like a fake , im still symptomatic but i feel if i complain im lying cause most of my severe symptoms are a bit better . one dr a few days ago really took me seriously and wanted me admitted , he was a good dr and really understood asthma , thing is , i got scared and left … internal med at my hospital does not understand asthma unless youre blue . I felt ashamed …. i mean yes im severe enough to be on biologic and long term pred but i still feel i have imposter syndrome .

i get mixed reactions from drs some tell me “ you can end in icu if youre not careful “ and others say “ why the heck are you on this ? “ so sometimes i dont even take my medications cause of stupid comments . my fev1 is 44% my CT scan is abnormal showing very severe inflammation , some drs just ignore this and call me a hypochondriac.

i cant even run , or a flare will start , i have lost over 50lbs . it was never a weight issue with me causing my problems . once a dr said “ obesity present “ when i was in ICU step down . i felt very dismissed and began to think favoritism and only skinny/ underweight patients were taken seriously when it came to asthma . it began to upset me . now when i see people thinner than me being taken serious or in worse condition than me , i just leave cause i am embarrassed . even if i am sick enough for admission , ill just get laughed at .

I had to wear a heart monitor during my stay . instead of icu , i was put icu step down . the food was great as i got to choose every meal during my stay

Fasenera worsening asthma symptoms

my symptoms have seemed to have changed , i have had worsening symptoms on fasenra - due to viral illness but its almost like my allergies / allergic asthma is getting worse . one hospital said stop fasenera its useless but my PFT showed SOME benefit but no huge change . With allergens its what makes my asthma poorly , i have been staying inside but im still symptomatic . If i travel and am exposed to a nasty allergen how screwed am i ? should i make an appointment with my respiratory dr ?

I want to learn more about asthma so

im gonna admit it , im anxious around the condition . i had one attack that messed me up cause i got care too late , i was blue and couldnt speak . I gave drs a scare . ive had episodes such as silent chest and respiratory failure type 2 and several admissions last year . my biggest fear is the ICU so im a bit OCD when it comes to my symptoms and when its appropriate to go to the hospital or not , i have been called an attention seeker by some drs , im trying to avoid a catastrophic event :( but also trying to get reassurance i am not heading there . I know sometimes im one of those patients who take up space and can go to their GP , once i was looking for reassurance, it was a severe attack ! i do not trust my body or symptoms .

i have severe asthma but … its not the kind that is ALWAYS catastrophic unless im exposed to allergens . ive learned my lesson . how do i know when its appropriate to go to the hospital ? ive been there when my symptoms have been severe and refactory but i still got laughed at ! i dont want to have to be blue again to be taken serious or get care
