I'll start with the two versions of creation. Just to start with.

The ease of using language to justify inconsistencies in language is just mind boggling.

Genesis 1:1–2:4a: This is the familiar seven-day creation story. It features an overarching, cosmic view where God creates the universe by speaking it into existence (e.g., "Let there be light"). In this account, animals are created first, and then human beings (male and female) are created last, together, in the image of God.

Genesis 2:4b–2:25: This account features a more localized, terrestrial focus, starting with a dry landscape

. Here, God acts like a potter, forming the first human (Adam) out of dirt, then planting the Garden of Eden, creating the animals to keep the man company, and finally creating the woman (Eve) from the man's rib

Young man dies in brutal car accident and co-worker reflexively goes "God is good all the time"

I don't know the man personally but bad news spreads faster among Christians than Covid ever could. He tried to pass in a curve and the result was his car's motor being forcibly pushed into the interior and the front half of the car crumpled like paper. The usual round of "thoughts and prayers" but also an overriding proclamation that "I am washed in the blood of Jesus and whatever I need, God will provide." Now that I'm outside the religion, I see how fucking weird that is. Man dies in a horrific tragedy and you have to remind everyone (and yourself) that God is good. In medieval times, at least people could "admit" that God was mad at them when plague or bad harvest happened but the modern Christian can't even acknowledge that God might be having a wrathful day and taking it out on his pawns.

"You have to act like you own the company and go beyond."

VENT post: There was a stupid work meeting where the middleman made some speech about how "You HAVE to care about this job. This isn't just a paycheck. You have to move like you own the company." This is not a co-op, it's an LLC. We literally have no stock in the company, but you want us to treat this job like our baby. Screw that!
