We have movie nights every week whenever we can find the time. I’m currently catching up on all the things I didn’t have the privilege of watching growing up- Disney animation classics, princess movies, Cartoons like Tom and Jerry, fantasy shows, superheroes, etc.

He’s more into "films" not movies apparently. He likes focusing on the cinematography, the director’s perspective, hidden meanings, symbolism, all that. I actually enjoy listening to him talk about it because he gets so passionate about movies.

Most of what we watch is some exquisite French arthouse film. I enjoy a lot of them, but I definitely prefer the more mainstream ones, I really liked "The Skin I Live In". I haven't seen any of the recently released and awarded films, other than through his recommendations and I really loved "The substance", and he referred to it as “the only mainstream movie with a conceptualisation I like,” and then proceeded to mansplain the struggles women face because of extreme beauty standards to me.

This week we watched "The Menu". His recommendation, but told me that it might not meet the standards because it's “mainstream” and might be “basic" with ideas we've all seen before. But he ended up loving it and kept explaining the themes to me, how these obnoxious, pretentious people act intellectually superior without actually knowing what they’re talking about, how elitism misses the entire point of art LMAO.

Throughout the entire movie, I kept thinking about Tyler, whom he absolutely hates for being pretentious and insufferable and the more I could be parallels between them as he kept explaining the character.

I understand that people have different tastes, and some people genuinely enjoy niche cinema and dissecting every frame lol

Is there any way to get it back, please I'm on the verge of tears 😭 it had a lot of important things saved

I grew up in an extremely abusive household and I've been crying my heart out for the smallest moments in the anime. I've barely made it through 7 episodes in S1. Mind you, I already lost it on ep 1 with Anya and Loid. And it's not even extremely heartwarming moments, I felt teary eyed at just the intro animation of them as a family.

The thought of 3 strangers coming together and becoming a better family than blood related ones. The fact that it's Loids first time as a father, and initially he didn't even want to be one, yet he has never treated anya harshly, not a single bruise on her body whenever she doesn't meet the expectations.

I absolutely love it, but I might go sick at this point crying at every scene

I'm specifically looking for his reel talking about how god doesn't really condemn homosexuality
