Glendy Marisol Gonzalez de la Cruz, who was awaiting a 2027 asylum hearing, left St. Louis for Guatemala with her three daughters a few weeks ago after her husband was deported.

Weeks later, both parents were found bound and shot to death in a sugar cane field. Their 14-month-old daughter, Giovanni, was found dehydrated beside her mother's body.

"Regardless of one's position on our country's broken immigration system, surely any human would find this baby's circumstances tragic and heart-wrenching," writes Post-Dispatch columnist Aisha Sultan.

But that wasn't what she found as she scrolled through responses to the news on social media.

"Die in hell you pos," "I hope you die tragically," "Let's hope somebody murders your family and gets clemency," and other threatening messages containing obscenities.

Is your alder responsive? When you contact them do they respectfully and promptly reply, even if they are in disagreement with your comment or request? My neighbors and I think no one can be as bad as ours, would like some information from other wards. Thank you.
