Last night, a few minor/major clashes erupted between authorities and protestors. Tear gas was used; force was used. During one of the clashes, ACP Vivek Bhagat got badly hurt, and serious head injury to a cop.
Multiple attempts were made by infiltrators to start clashes with cops. A lot of them got thrashed badly by protestors. A lot of them have been identified as being in direct link with BJP members. At least in one incident (imo), stones were pelted at cops by these lads.
The internet was shut down at night. Things got way too heated; students had to form a human chain to separate cops and other protestors. Sometimes after this, authorities placed a vandalised car during the barricading (unclear what their agenda is).
Nihangs played an important role in keeping things in control, keeping a check on protestors so they did not attack the cops and vice versa. In one incident, when stones were pelted, one of them stopped the RAF from charging and said, "Let us handle" (assuming from gesture), and another Nihang rushed and charged at the protestors to disperse them. The same happened in at least 2 incidents that I'm aware of. I'm not saying these guys are saints; I know they are aggressive and rogue sometimes, but BJP IT handles are pushing a Khalistani agenda on social media. So, you should know what's going on. The choice is yours by eod; know the facts tho.
Bangla Sahib Gurudwara is housing many children for sleepovers and feeding meals. Another NGO handles the transit back and forth.
16 metro stations are shut down today from 7:30 AM until further notice. Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh and Shivaji Stadium
In Bihar, multiple incidents of the BJP leader and its protestors being thrashed by Students/Protestors happened. In one incident, a guy had brought a chainsaw with him.
23rd July | 1:45 AM Updates & Indian Army Propaganda Warning
Tension in the air: Standoff between paramilitary and protestors. No violence so far. Heavy paramilitary buildup. Some more personnel were called after the 8 PM clash. After the internet shutdown, many people from Delhi and nearby (Noida, Gurgaon) are joining the protests.
Estimated protestor strength: 25,000 -30,000. Idk about paramilitary.
A human chain is made by students to create a line to prevent protestors from clashing with authorities. Volunteers are making announcements to stay non-violent.
Several goons from UP and nearby states came to Delhi today. Some of them are identified with direct links to the BJP. The same thing happened during the Delhi riots of 2020; they brought them from outside.
Some of those goons were identified earlier today and in the evening among protestors, and thrashed. There are reports of a few being thrashed by protestors around tonight around the time when stone pelting started.
Stone pelting started earlier tonight from protestors towards the paramilitary. This was infiltration by some goons. At least 2 people were stopped and thrashed by protestors.
A lot of fake content is being pushed from Pakistan's side to create tensions in Delhi. Specifically army-related content.
The government is banning a lot of content in India from people, including Journalists (on their personal social media) who are reporting ground reality of police brutality and updating about protests (good, bad, ugly, everything)
Indian Army is being heavily used in propaganda.
BJP IT cells are pushing the idea that students are disrespecting our army and beating them; we need to teach them a lesson.
Pakistan has launched a massive psychological warfare. IT cells have made several videos of fake Indian Army soldiers attempting to provoke or mobilise active personnel against the government; they start the narrative with students' protest, then bring up things like anginveer, andhbhakts, killing BJP guys. Emotionally dumb Indians are just reposting these videos. Riding the hype, a couple of active soldiers also created content supporting students; obviously, there might be internal action. Active personnel can't comment on political matters.(🤦🏻♂️)
On the ground: Yes! Many Army veterans visited the protest site today and extended support to children; some of them had even served in Kargil. One of the Army veterans said that a lot of Army veterans will be joining the "peaceful protest" today (23rd July). Please note that all of these are retired personnel, coming in peace, will join as normal citizens, but might be in their army uniforms (also happened yesterday - 22nd July).
‼️ FAKE NEWS ALERT | A video from Gaya, Bihar, showing a mob vandalising an SUV after an accident is being FALSELY shared as visuals from the CJP stir in Delhi. Right-wing handles invented the claim that a Muslim CJP supporter torched a BJP leader's car.
🚨BREAKING🚨 After thousands of Videos of Police Personals in plain Clothes seen lathicharging student protesters. Delhi Police has now directed all personnel deployed for law and order duty at Jantar Mantar to wear proper police uniforms. The order has been conveyed to all units.
