New player here, what gamemode should I be playing?

Hello! So my experience with the match making has gone like this
>click quickmatch first thing
>it's this shitty "No guns bar bolties no vehcile one map" gamemode that I immediately hate.
>Play it, not very fun, leave
>Looks for other gamemodes
>Find operations
>Click " any"
>Loads me into gallipoli.. it's fun but no grand scale that I like so leave
>Click any again
>gallipoli again
>Leave
>click any again
>gallipoli again
>Manually select a different operation
>it's empty
>Leave it a day, play tmr
>Click quickmatch
>it's this shitty "No guns bar bolties no vehcile one map" gamemode
>go to operations
>Click any
>gallipoli again
>Manually select a different operation
>It's empty.

Is there some secret sauce im missing? or is literally everyone on gallipoli and the shitty "No guns bar bolties no vehcile one map" gamemode? What are people actually playing?

I've tried to ask people to join, 1 guy did but well you need 6 (?) and nobody else is interested or even types. Is there anyway to manually pick out a guildmate's team from the roster?

The main thing stopping me from leaving is that ih ave no gurantee any clans I join will actually do the raid, is there anyway to knoow?

Looking for story recs for dark fantasy town building/management. (Noble Arcana used as an example)

Hello there! So I was reading the new SeerSucker story noble arcana about a minor-ish noble sent to a small isolated town to be its new leader, and his focus is split between the arcane mysteries he finds and town management.

The issue is that I found myself drastically more interested in the darker town management part of things.

MC is a morally pure good man in a fairly dark fantasy world, without a system there to build things for him. He has to actually order the roads to be rebuilt, hire contractors, worry about money and check books, hire a surveyor for his mining interests etc. I really want the story to be near entirely town management focused, but it leans more magical unfortunately enough.

The other stories I can think of that fit what I want are Londoner Manor Lord (Concept is perfect, the writing is just really poor) and Castle Kingside (abandoned for years).

The issue I have with a lot of town management is that either it's either incredibly light tonally or it's "the system will do everything for you, dont really need to work at all. Go pwn some mobs to get +10 wood! Poggers sauce! now you can upgrade the town hall, lets go guys!!" I don't really want magic solving issues, at least not super easily. I want stone and wood to be harvested by labourers and then worked by normal human craftsmen into timber, and then normal human builders make the new sawmill. An established town in a kingdom relying on and producing infrastructure, dyou get the vibe i'm going for?

Note: Doesn't have to be a town, this post was just born from me wanting noble arcana to be more management focused, and it's an estate town in that story- so I use town a lot. Could be a city, a small nation who knows.

(also no harem please)

What is YOUR guy's pace when it comes to upgrading settlements? Am I doing something wrong? it feels like i'm doing something wrong.

Hello there! So i'm not a new player to twwh3, I have a mid amount of hours at 1.6 k so i'm not new.. but I have some suspicions that I take far too long to upgrade my main settlements, and that my settlement upgrading in general is suboptimal.

I do the standard practice of 2 econ builds in your capital, then advanced recruitment or control building when you get it to t3. Other settlements in the province 2 econ + recruitment (or 3 econ, or 2 econ 1 advanced for hero recruitment/global buffs depends on faction)

But I watch some peoples' gameplay and they get T5's incredibly quickly it feels like, within the first 40 turns sometimes.

I tend to not have much of an economic surplus even though I play a lot of dwarves, everytime I get a healthy surplus (3k+?) it immediately goes into funding another army (usually gyrocopter doomstack), sometimes i even run at a deficit. The only times im flush for cash is lategame, and even then it gets funelled into yet another thunderbarge/gyrobomber doomstack.

This game rewards wide instead of tall for essentially every faction barring wood elves (even dawi you want to go wide, fast expansion is the best thing to do) but I feel like I just struggle to upgrade my main settlements. (ignoring Grungni cheese). I dont upgrade my growth buildings as I tend to run into cash problems more than growth, sometimes I dont even bother building them if cash is that tight.

Is this a common struggle? is this how i know i've made it into the "decent at the game" ranks or is this a skill issue , and I shouldn't have money/growth problems ever? Should I have enough funds to click upgrade "t4/5 settlement upgrade" then they come available? I spend all my cash on econ upgrades and new armies, with usually just leaving a lot of settlement capitals at T3 for gyrocopter recruitment, though I'm trying to not be dwarf specific here. A lot of the funds for getting my T4 capital settlement built tends to come from quest battles

Whats your pace to get T5 settlements? I just want to know if im doing something wrong. I'm completely fine with my skill in battle and in a wider sense i'm good at empire building i know what buildings to go for, when I have free insane cash flow and shit tonnes of global growth buffs my empire is built perfectly... it's just the little decisions of what to upgrade and when and managing cash that im not sure im doing correct. I could be, but it feels like I'm always doing something wrong with it.

My current campaign its turn 25 and i can afford maybe.. 2-3 armies, and my main capital building is T3 (Could be t4 but this campaign is dead and im restarting)

I need some advice for winning this siege battle (VH/VH max cheats)

Hello! So i have 1.5k hours so i'm not exactly new, but like a lot of players I don't fight siege battles. I always either do the hide cheese, have a fast lord, cheese with magic, cycle charge with flying units whatever. But in this scenario I'm earlygame dwarves with a pretty bad army. I fucked up my recruitment so i have less slayers and replishment than I should which was a pretty stupid mistake but I tend to autopilot dwarf battles/campaigns.

I think it's winnnable if I can get the thunderers to actually shoot. Anyone have any super secret Siege tech/cheese I can pull out? Or just advice in general? I tried breaking the gate and just parking the thunderers in front, but I get shot to shit and thunderers still dont' like shooting

(I gave up like, halfway through this battle and tried to brute force sightlines, couldn't win otherwise. Also was autopiloting this battle atp, this was a few attempts in and just wanted footage to ask reddit)

Thanks for reading!

Newish player here, how should i be positioning my units? Any videos? How do i use overwatch? Should i even overwatch?

Hello there! So i just cant figure out how i should be moving around maps and how i should be positioning my units. I see people say overwatch is incredibly important, but with the way i play i can go 3+ mission without having a single overwatch trigger. I tend to use my TU primarly for movement and i rarely bother saving any. I tend to prioritise assaulters and go heavy on smokes (i do love offensive smokes). Always be in cover, always be moving yk? I tend to do a slow crawl upwards whilst constantly checking my flanks and darting in and out of cover. I don't know if i have a micro or macro tactical decision-making issue, maybe both tbh

This approach doesnt really work super super well, and im kinda at a loss for how to position and move my units. I get it, overwatch good.. but like how the fuck do i properly overwatch and kill things? Why not just burn all my Tu to get into a better position next turn to get two kills, rather than relying on RNG to maybe proc overwatch and maybe hit and maybe high roll to maybe kill.

Does anyone have any advice or, hopefully, some high level video explanations (more of a learn by doing/visual learner kind of bloke, but yk advice welcome)

I'm not like, getting completely ruined in my campaigns but i tend to underperform, dislike how many soldiers/missions i'm losing and how the xenos are outscaling me and then restart

Thanks for readng!

(P.s: what stats are important for grenadiers? Accuracy and str?)

New player here, what should i be doing? [REPOST for clarification]

Alright so I made a post on here a few hours ago, but people were seemingly fixating on the wrong things and weren't answering any of the questions I asked. A lot of people were just repeating that "youre going to space, you need to get a space programme!" which was always always the medium-term plan, my short term plan is clicking on councilors and sending them to countries, and then managing those countries . The advice about going for the CUM zone was good though.

Allow me to be more specific:

  1. Is it at all worth it to go for smaller nations, i.e the maldives, or should I immediately bumrush Canada/Mexico?

  2. How do i invest in nations? What should my priorities be? The few people that answered this were split between "sac canada/mexico, spoil them for all theyre worth then hyper invest 100% fully in US space programme" and "Try and fight inequality and grow the GDP of your nations, THEN invest in space" Where should my policy blips be?

  3. How concerned should I be with research? global vs faction specific? Do i bother to fight that?

  4. What traits and stats do i look for in a councillor? Theres a bunch of stats but i tend to just spam recruit the most persuasive ones

  5. Should i be worried about sending security councilors to find and counter the enemy or do i just focus entirely inwards

  6. Do i need to be using defensive orders on my nations right now?

  7. What should i be doing with my councilors after I get my bread basket nation(s) online?

Alright so far ive just been playing the tutorial, the messages have stopped but now im just sort of pressing end turn and im confused as to how i should be building countries and what i should actually like, be doing.

So far ive just been hiring agents, sending them out to conquer shitty countries that are easily loyal to me, turn those countries into democracies with high gdp low inequality and then repeat.

currently getting stuck into mexico.

But now im at a point in time where i just like, doing know what to do? I've hoovered up a good few countries, ive been having my agent in SKorea counter enemy agent spots and claiming them for myself but like.. now what? what should i be researching? or going for? Does my approach even make sense? should i just have gone for major countries from the start and spam PR? What research should i be going for, when do i start actually building things?

It just feelslike im doing something very wrong and i feel quite directionless

New player here, where does the fun come from in this game? Am i missing something? (genuine question, i'm being negative ik but its honest from my PoV)

I love dinosaurs, and yellowstone made this game look great.

I played it a year ago and absolutely hated it.

The gameplay was just

>Do chores and wait, walk from point A to point B occasionally pressing E.
>Eventually get levelled to where you can pvp
>Try and pvp
>pvp is just who can mash buttons faster and picked the stronger dino (Ik ik movement and all that, but i mean you can just stand still and face towards the enemy while they try to ride your tail +and try to obviously bait attacks. If youre big enough all you can really do is trade hits and button mash. Most large theropods arent really maneuverable enough to actually do cool things with movement. Even the smaller theropods you just bait a cooldown, run in, circle behind, use a move, repeat. 90% skilless. Bigger dino wins as long as youre solo and they have a braincell. As long as you have WASD and a mouse a bot would probably play as well as you can. The skill floor is about as low as the ceiling)
>Win pvp because i had more buttons to mash, feel very unaccomplished
>Roam around doing dull chores. hold W and occasionally tap E. Sometimes crouch in a bush.
>Group spots me, i get ganked and cannot fight back
>Lose the last 2 hours of meandering around a map doing chores due to no fault of my own
>Respawn
>repeat
>Have no fun doing bad skyrim fetch quests for hours, uninstall for a year

Maybe im just used to complicated pvp systems like chiv2 or tf2, different games ik but im talking about mechanical complexity to the pvp. And holy shit the quest and growth system was so dull. The few moments of pvp was dull. Dying to some 5 man was annoying. I gave this game so many hours and I dont think i had a single moment of fun

But i feel like im missing something! this seems like such a cool game and its popular, i have to be doing something

NECESSARY REDDIT DISCLAIMER:
this'll come across like ragebait ik, it's a genuine question though. If youre going to comment all "FUK U GAMES PERFECT UR JUST BAD KID BADBADB HOW DARE U BE NEGATIVE KYS" then i mean just dont. This isn't a troll post, this isn't me trying to get you to stop liking something, this is not a personal attack on you. This is my honest experience and a desire for this game to be more than my experience

High skill laning (strong!) pokemon?

Hello! So recently I was told that blaziken was a later, then I've been told he's better in jungle and isn't all that skilled (which i think is bs but I'm bad at him so my opinions on blazikenare fairly irrelevant )

Then people told me a bunch of suboptimal sets to play because "well they're worse so they take more.skill!" I want something that requires effort to be good at but is also just a strong, high tier pokemon in lane. Normally a play dragapult but honestly he's a lot easier than people.make him out to be.

Thanks for recently

New player here, what do you spend your resources on?

Hello! so i cant quite figure out what i'm meant to spend resources (especially OP points) on. I never buy soldier recruit because you can get it for free. Other than that theres so much stuff to buy.

There's 24 supports, with recruitment AND execution being a thing so that can be like what, 48 options? Then you have the four side options (tbf i dont really use those unless doomsday is a still up and getting to 100% or recruitment is free)

When do you build a new base??? what benefits does a new base provide? Should certain bases just be dedicated towards one type of building?

What should i be spending money on? i normally rush 4 labs+ generator for research. Should i get a training room? More hangers? Everybody in warden equipment with pulse/accelerated weaponry?

Whats the best way to spend your two main resources?

Thanks for readings

Blaziken adv!c3 please

I decided to pick up blaziken so i could have an off main to swap to in bad comps (normally i'd just play dragapult or goodra, but i want a high skill all rounder)

The issue is i just cannot figure him out, like at all. i cant see anything i'm doing wrong. My basic mentality with him goes:

Go top lane, i run a double stack build so use your pretty solid mobility to get stacks as fast as possible without feeding (fairly easy, especailly when you get aerial ace/blaze kick). Stay in your lane, maybe get some backfarm as you want to hit level 8 fast without stealing from your jungler. Be stealing shit with ember/aerial ace. Sorta just chill without hardcore engaging for a while until you come online. You can also aerial ace behind the enemy and blaze kick them into your goal zone for a cheeky kill

When online function as a frontline brawler that can dive backline with firepunch. I tend to lead engagements with fists. Lead with focus blast, combo with 2 fire punches, swap to kick, blaze kick enemy in a favourable direction- maybe overheat it depends on how insane i feel with my reads and how badly i can afford to not heal for a bit, if nothing else just quick double tap it for stacks.

If my goal zones alive i stick to it, if its not then i roam around using my mobility and swapping between forms to get places fairly quickly for an all-rounder. try to come from behind, maybe steal someone with blazekick or just brawl for a bit. I dont engage in bigs fights unless i have team backup (or its a favourable fight for me), i tend to run away a good bit and wait for opportunities to get stuck in.

https://preview.redd.it/ho5k4ohgokch1.png?width=402&format=png&auto=webp&s=36d39c04e6555aca678e30b85fba908b4177e629

Yet this doesnt work. Blaziken is my most pathetic pokemon by far. I wind up just kinda dying, and getting a kill is a rarity. I get im more of a brawler than a kill man but i just cant see what im doing wrong. i watch high tier blazikens and i feel like im doing things right, then i get in a match and just keel over dead without doing much.

What am i doing wrong?t hanks for reading

Looking for a light-hearted but realistic fic that isn't afraid to show the uglier parts of realism (further explanation below)

Hello there! So to further explain what i mean by the title, I want something that still has a light hearted pokemon adventure with comedy and slice of life and stuff like that, but treats the world as an actual realistic world.

As an example i'll use Unbroken Disguise because it's like perfect (i also highly recommend it as a story it's really fucking good. Takes N and Plasma in a cool direction, merges games and anime lore in a really funny way and it has a great sense of humour, the world building is fantastic etc etc).

It's, by and large, a fairly upbeat pokemon adventure with some dark moments (I honestly dislike how Dawn is handled, goes a bit too brutal with her imo but that's something else) and a lot of weight given to the characters and their struggles, whilst still maintaining an upbeat tone throughout the majority of it.

For an example of what i mean when i say "uglier parts of realism" while trying to avoid major spoilers: N and co are caught up in a natural disaster, and are conscripted by Brock to set up a triage tent. There's compound fractures, bones through skin, dozens of lives that couldn't be saved etc, without it being shock value or just edginess. It's a disaster, there's lots of injuries and sometimes not everyone can be saved- that's realistic, not just some 14 year old writer going "heh.. then theres blood and guts everywhere and they all die heh.." N struggles to stitch pokemon back together after pulling them from the rubble as he wanders in a bit of a daze from the trauma of the event. It's gorey and gruesome without veering into unrealistic edginess and still managing the tonal shifts.

the criminal organisations actually do illegal shit and are competent, yet still having practical motives. It's a world that's by and large good, and the characters and tone reflect that, but grimness isn't shied away from. Also stuff like pokemon specific lawyers are brought up, the actual fucked-upness of smuggling pseudo-sentient creatures and all of that. It really gives a critical eye to a world that is, at its core, good and silly and maintains it being good and silly.

Just something like that. That treats pokemon as realistic world without falling into the trap of "realism = blood and death 24/7", but still does include very mature topics and scenes yet remains positive as a realistic pokemon world should be. (Also actual biology in pokemon is really cool, kind of like borne of caution)

Sorry if i repeat myself a lot or this is a bit of a rant, bit out of it rn but i want to make a post before i forge t lol.

RR preferred but not required, also no romance/smut/harem

Thanks for reading!
