Is Anybody Actually Managing The TV Feed Anymore?

I know all of their energy is in Podcasts, Netflix, and YouTube at the moment, but the website that is the namesake of The Ringer seems like it should matter. However, it is a bit of a mess, particularly when you click on the TV tab in the top menu.

Click on TV from the home page and the first hit is the House of the Dragon Season 3 episode 2 written recap, which came out six weeks ago. Other things marked "the latest" include an X-Men 97 update from July 1 and a Love Island recap from June 18. There's also an Emmy review from March!

No feeds of The Watch or relevant episodes of other podcasts, lots of recaps and previews missing (I originally went looking for Lanterns content). The streaming guide (which was actually a great hub for content) was last updated in March.

Who is managing this page? Does CR need an intern?

AMC Theater in Richmond is a Disgrace

I know Richmond isn't a big city, but it's not the backwoods by any means.

We have three thriving Regals, a brand new BTX, a big Cinebistro, but for some reason AMC has just decided to punt on the region. We have what can be politely described as an antiquated theater with old uncomfortable seats, small, outdated screens, bad sound and absolutely terrible popcorn to boot.

I had Stubs for years in NY and would love to be able to use it again. Dolby would be a dream.

Send help :)

The IMAX at Short Pump ... Kind of Meh, But Is It Just That Theater?

I saw the Odyssey on a regular screen at Regal Westchester a few weeks ago. I really loved the movie, but I felt I was missing out by not seeing it in IMAX.

Finally got to see it in IMAX this afternoon at Short Pump and it was pretty underwhelming. I don't feel like it was visually that different. The audio was definitely louder, but the tuning seemed off.

Is this typical of a "lie"max or is it just Short Pump?

I definitely wish I could've seen it at Movieland but it was always sold out or only crappy seats available.

Sean's Substack getting featured on the home page is insulting and dumb

I understand everyone has to make a living, and good for Sean for finding another revenue stream. But promoting an external site that requires a paid subscription on what is supposed to be a hub for The Ringer’s original content is insulting to readers. And yes, the site still has some actual readers as opposed to listeners.

You don’t link from the main site to Belloni’s articles at Puck or Lindbergh’s off-network podcast, because those aren’t Ringer content. This isn’t either. Get it off the site.

Best Card(s), SUB, Rewards for International Travel One Year From Now - Help Make a Plan

We're looking to take a trip abroad next summer for two people. If you were starting from zero, what cards, subs, and travel portals would you prioritize?

Update: We are flying out of NYC to either Ireland or Italy.

We don't have a preference for airlines (though maybe we should?)

I have about 90k Amex points and 40k Chase points already, but I think I've churned and earned too many cards, and I am out of SUB opportunities at the moment. My wife has no SUBs in the last several years, so she can still earn.

Vomero 18 Snug Volume?

I live the look of the Vomero 18, but I just can't seem to get a fit. I'm usually between a 10 and 10.15, but I find the volume/height of the tongue and lace very low to the point it hurts the top of my feet. This is somewhat alleviated in a 10.5, but then the toebox is too big.

Does the tongue give at all after some time, or is the volume always pretty snug?

King's Dominion Annual Pass - Best Time To Buy? Better Deal In Winter? Vs. Busch Gardens?

We signed up for the KD annual pass last year and I would say we got our money's worth. The big win was actually the free admission to other parks, and we were able to take advantage of that at Carowinds.

We just got an email about renewing and, no surprise, the price went up and the value went down. Last year's pass included admission to every Six Flags Park in the country, this year it only includes select locations.

Our current passes expire at the end of the year, so I don't really see the sense in renewing now, if we do end up renewing at all.

My question to folks who have done this dance before ... will there be a better offer in the fall/winter? Is there a way to get a better discount through another site? Or any way to improve the pricing at Busch Gardens?

Thank you!

Better IMAX Theater - Commonwealth or Short Pump?

Finally got my permission slip signed to go to see the Odyssey. Which theater is better for IMAX?

Edit: Does sitting in the first two rows suck? That's all that's available.

Why Is The Beginning Of The Season Always So Boring!?

I find the first 2-3 episodes of every season incredibly boring. I always struggle to get through these initial episodes, and am ultimately happy that I do when the season gets going later on, but the cadence is so frustrating. It's like they have to turn the dial down to 1 every time rather than keep the momentum or propulsion going. Such a slog.

Kingston Flemings ...

He seems like a great kid, and I know the sample size is small, but the size and athleticism gap between MBJ and him is so evident. I know he had some fans amongst the fan base, but I think we absolutely made the right pick.

Stella's - I Don't Get It...

I know Stella's Grocery is an institution here. I saw lots of excitement about the one opening close to us. I finally visited and ... I really don't get it.

There are very limited options, and what they do have is very pricey. The staff was very nice, but the store was very sparse.

What is the appeal? What do people love about it?

This is not a criticism, just trying to understand so the next time I go I know what to look for.

Who Said No? - Jaylen Brown Trade

There's been conflicting reporting about why, exactly, the Nets were not a suitor for JB. Bill Simmons keeps insisting that it was because someone "at the top" of the organization (presumably Joe Tsai) said no, but other reports say that JB let several teams know he wasn't interested (though I'm not sure any specifically name the Nets).

Any other credible reporting on this? Love Brian Lewis but he's basically stopped asking questions.

Best Affordable Buds For Phone Calls

I've had Galaxy Buds FE for about two years and they are good for phone calls, but they are getting long in the tooth. I've tried a few budget pairs for backups (Baseus BO2, JBL Vibe Beam) but they were awful for phone calls.

I originally got the buds on sale for $50. Anything in that price range with good call quality?

Edit: I have a Pixel 9 Pro.

Evo SL 18 vs Vomero As Second Running/Casual Shoe W Heavy Discounts?

I have been very happy with the Ghost Max 3 as I get back into running. I absolutely do not need another sneaker, but I wandered into my local GGG and they had some nice sales on Vomero 18 ($80) and Evo SL ($60) so I bought both because I am an impulsive moron.

I only want to keep one, but which would be the better buy? I want to keep the Ghost Max 3 as my dedicated running sneaker and use this one as more of a casual trainer, walker and occasional run. Looks wise, the Vomero is definitely better, though it is chonky.

Any experience with either as more of a lifestyle sneaker?

[Amick] All-NBA forward Jalen Duren was underwhelmed by the Detroit Pistons’ initial offer in restricted free agency and is planning to explore sign-and-trade scenarios when they are permitted on Tuesday, league sources told The Athletic.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/7396928/2026/06/26/jalen-duren-pistons-negotiations-extension-trade/

> All-NBA forward Jalen Duren was underwhelmed by the Detroit Pistons’ initial offer in restricted free agency and is planning to explore sign-and-trade scenarios when they are permitted on Tuesday, league sources told The Athletic.

> League sources say the gap between the two sides is large enough that Duren is now considering ways to land elsewhere, with the sign-and-trade route deemed preferable to signing an offer sheet with another team that the Pistons could, and likely would, match. And with some of the game’s best players potentially available this summer, including the Boston Celtics’ Jaylen Brown and the LA Clippers’ Kawhi Leonard, the question now becomes whether the Pistons might be willing to engage in those sorts of scenarios when that time comes.

> The Pistons, meanwhile, are known to be on the market for a significant roster upgrade this summer. League sources say they had serious interest in Austin Reaves before he re-signed with the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, and they’ve also been tied to Brown, Leonard and Tyler Herro (who was traded from the Miami Heat to the Milwaukee Bucks in the Giannis Antetokounmpo deal). Detroit has plenty of other in-house business to tend to as well, as 23-year-old, first-team All-Defense selection Ausar Thompson is eligible for an extension that could top out at five years and a combined $162 million.

Cody White off the board. What else moves the needle?

I thought he would have been a really good addition to the guard rotation and someone who could bribg some stability to the young guard rotation and play with and without MBJ on the floor. He certainly would have been an upgrade over Mann, but he is staying with Charlotte, who really needs him now that Lamelo is gone.

What other (realistic) moves would move the needle and help us get in that play in discussion?

To me, it's either:

A trade for Trey Murphy (though he would either take the starting spot from Egor, which I don't think is likely, or require us to move MPJ, which is almost a lateral move)

Upgrade the center position: This is probably the biggest opportunity to raise the floor. Day'ron is an upgrade over Clax, but a legit stud like Duren or Kessler would give us a potential advantage at the 3, 4, and 5 spots while the young backcourt develops.

Jaylen Brown? I don't see it - we have no players they would want in return.

What else?

The Bottom of the East is ... Good?

Looking ahead to next year, we will undoubtedly be a better basketball team than we were this past season. The problem is that every other one of the crappy East teams will also be better. Say what you want about Trae, but him and AD (if he stays) will help the Wiz be competitive; the Pacers will rebound if Hali is healthy.

The only two teams that seem like they may take a step back (or even stay in place) are Toronto and Chicago.

I see a lot of optimism that we will be a play in team, but I'm not sure the math will math.
