When did these "grunge" bands stop being grunge?

Hi all,

I'm from Novi Sad, Serbia...born in 2002. So I kind of missed this whole....grunge/seattle wave. I was introduced to the term "grunge" by a group from Miami called Raven and the Dark Shadows who have a massive following here due to their bassist being from Serbia.

I recently read Kim Thayils book and he talks about how Down On the Upside was their departure from grunge.

Thinking of this....it seems like bands like Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains catalogue is minimally grunge.

To me, Pearl Jam was at their grungiest with a song like Deep, AIC with a song like Grind, Nirvana with Penneroyal Tea, Soundgarden with Birth Ritual.

I mean, would those be accurate examples of the big 4 at their "grungiest?"

Is grunge really bands like Tad and Mudhoney, and the association with Seattle being what made the big 4 take on the term?

It's an interesting topic that despite reading books and watching documentaries on, I have yet to come to a full understanding on.

Thank you in advance,

Mladin

Looking for nostalgic summer songs by current artists

Taking my family on a roadtrip and looking for songs that evoke summer time pleasures. My kids are 10 and 2 so something generally safe for their ears. Thanks

I remember this song playing as a kid, mainly from the Ice Cream Truck.....it doesn't have words but I heard it again in this music video. It sounds like something from a Charlie Chaplin movie

Songs about Boulder/Rocky Mountains?

Hi! I am a filmmaker from Austria directing/producing a feature length rom-com in the Denver/Boulder area late summer/early Autumn.

Wondering if you guys have any recs for indie bands that have songs about the region.

Thanks!

Is the Ice Cream Man still a thing in the States?

So I remember being a lad watching movies and tv shows and there was always a cameo of an Ice Cream Man.

Here in Stavanger, Norway, we don't have such a thing. Too cold I guess.

I kind of forgot about the Ice Cream Man until recently when an American band I follow released a song about it.

Does the Ice Cream Man only visit the suburbs? Do they wear costumes? Are all the trucks similar? Are they creepy like the music video? Is it still as popular as the 80s/90s?

EDIT: Since everybody keeps asking, this is the song

Creepiest Places in Latvia?

Sveiki, draugi!

Mēs esam Raven and the Dark Shadows, rokgrupa no Maiami pludmales, Floridā.

Mūsu studijas albumā "An Unkindness" piedalās Pearl Jam, New Found Glory un Agent Fresco dalībnieki. Pagājušajā gadā mēs spēlējām Stīvena Kinga 75. dzimšanas dienas ballītē. Nākamgad mūsu nākamais singls "Feel Like a Fugitive" tiks iekļauts GTA 6 skaņu celiņā.
