How do you stay disciplined to walk 10k steps a day if you don’t leave the house at all?

Hello, I have a new goal to walk 10k steps a day, and I work from home so I don’t leave the house literally all day. I’m in my 1,200sqft home ALL day. I am starting the gym this week but other than that I only leave a few times a week to get groceries and gas etc. my husband isn’t much of an active type as he is a blue collar worker and often extremely tired and wants to rest on his free time.

We live in Texas so it’s very hot during the day, I only have a short window to walk before the sun goes down and I’m typically using that time to cook dinner and prep for the next day, so I mainly do all my steps on the treadmill inside. But I feels like I’m on the treadmill FOREVER getting all my steps 🫩

I used to work in downtown in the city and go to school for evenings and getting my steps was sooooo much easier and fun. It feels like a huge chore now.

Am i on the right track?

Hello all, I am 26 with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Management, and I graduated in 2020. I am having a late start to my career path as I went to work for the family business instead of starting my career. After researching a career path, I have decided on pursuing a career as a Business Analyst. Currently, I am starting from the beginning as far as experience. I am on SQL Bolt learning the basics of SQL. I also have went through the Wiki on this subreddit to learn and see what all I can do for now to prepare and have a shot at landing a position as a Junior Business Analyst.

My question is, what real world advice can you guys give me on how to save my career path and ensure a solid path to this career while I am currently learning and doing everything myself from home? Is there an entry-level job that you guys would recommend I start with for now since I have absolutely no experience at all? Maybe a remote data entry or customer service position?

I currently work for my family HVAC business, with my dad being the owner, however its very unorganized and everything I do is very surface level. I tried tying my current job and responsibilities in my resume as best as I could for a junior data analyst position and have applied everywhere I could so far.

What I currently do, for the family business is run the social media accounts, create ads on canva and post, run Facebook ads and Google Local Services Ads, generate leads and either sell on the phone or set-up those leads for technicians. I handle the vehicle registrations and civil suits of the company, pay toll tags and bills etc. I also handle my dads property taxes, business personal property taxes, website and google business profile, respond to all customer reviews. Pick up payments from customers in person, and several miscellaneous other things. As you can see, it is not a clear set of skills for me to get better at since I can get pulled in many directions and am not able to really grow in one specific area.

HVAC gets slow in the winter so i plan to use the extra free time to study and learn as much as I can to be able to qualify and be hired for an entry level position asa Business Analyst.

Trying to establish a routine

1.) if gym before work, do you drink coffee before or after gym? Do you get enough sleep for the gym to wake up at 5:30am?

  1. Do you count calories when you make dinners like spaghetti, where you measure everything you add, then weight the total amount, and then weigh the portion you served yourself ?

3.) do you cut sugar all together or have sweet treats in your meal plan?

Apparently something is missing from it but the lady says she doesn’t know what’s missing as her contractor was installing it for a home remodel and it was missing a part so they got a new one

Does anybody know much about these machines? It says Miele CVA 4070

How can I re-configure my kitchen to be able to have an island and more counter space?

Hi all, I want to remodel my kitchen, but I just bought this house and before I put money into just changing the backsplash of current cabinets, I was wondering is there a more long term renovation I can do to make more space like repositioning the washer and dryer to fit a island or maybe knocking a wall down to the living room to make it more open concept?
I am showing the full home floor plan for any ideas on how to expand the space. Thank you!!

How to remodel existing tuff shed floor for a livable space?

Hello, i recently bought a house that has a fairly new 12x16 tuff shed in the back. i plan to remodel it into a livable space. My question is that since it is already built, how can i improve the flooring or overall structure so that it is sound enough to rent out to my brother in law? would we just add an extra layer of subflooring, foam board insulation, underlayment and then LVP? Or what order? Do i need to do anything specific to ensure proper airflow and moisture control?

Should i get a business masters degree, and if so, what specific degree?

hello all, i graduated high school in 2018 with my associates degree and went on to undergrad for 2 more years and received my bachelors in business management in 2020. I took a untraditional path and started working in my family business for an hvac company. I did lots of sales, lead generation, marketing, administrative and much much more types of work, but all of it at surface level or a little more that i can self teach. I feel i have made a mistake by not going to work for a larger company to learn more than what ive learned with my current job at the family business. Its been many years now and ill be looking to leave the family business and get a job somewhere else that i can grow and "climb the ladder." With this being said, is it smart to pursue my grad degree at this time or is it a waste of time and money? given my lack of experience in the work force, will getting something like an MBA help at all to pursue my career? I feel like i am behind now because my resume is only one job i worked for 1 year plus the family business. Although i dont thinki have to disclose that it is a family business. thanks

Help me turn this shed into a livable space

Hi! I just bought a home that has a really nice and new looking shed in the back; I am wanting to renovate it into a fully livable space and don’t know where to start!

So far, I have an electrician coming tomorrow to quote us to run electricity to it. My husband is licensed and insured in HVAC so he will be adding a mini split to it. My main questions from there is…
1.) is there anything I must know to do and not to do for this project?
2.) how to secure the floors to be super solid, how to weatherproof the shed, and make a new front door that is fully secure, and how to weatherproof the overall shed?
3.) anything I should know or do to prevent mold, bad airflow etc?

I have a general idea once electrical and a/c and heat is done, I plan to add rockwool insulation against the walls, then add the Sheetrock/drywall (I think that’s what it’s called) and then do the mud and texture and paint. Install LVP flooring, and baseboards etc. anything else? Thanks!!

is something like this possible to do?

Hello, i am exploring ideas on home additions, and currently my home is about 1,250 sqft with a "one and a half" car garage. i was wanting to do a 24 x 24 foot garage added on the side of my home, and convert the existing garage into more living space. i will post my own homemade floor plans (that i made with measurements i took on a free program online) just to give an idea of what my house looks like and what im trying to do. i dont have a dining room or pantry, and the restrooms are quite small. i would like the living area to be at the back of the house so i can also have sliding doors out to the back patio. the diagonal thing is where the chimney is.

i would be converting the garage into bedroom #2 and taking the walls down where the second bedroom used to be, to make it the new living space. also does anybody have a rough idea of how much a major home remodel like this will cost?

Trying to decide between Mikolo Anubis 2.0, GetRxd Tornado compact smith machine, and ritfit m3

Hi! I have a one and a half car garage that is about 14.5 feet wide with a 12 foot garage door. It is wider than a standard one car garage. I am trying to find something that will work that is not too big on the depth as i will be pulling my car in at night. I have a good 5 (6 is pushing it) feet of depth to use if i pull in my car close to only one side as much as possible.

I am looking at the following but trying to stay as budget friendly as possible. (i am looking for a rack that does both cables and has a smith machine)

  1. Mikolo Anubis 2.0 Ultimate (43.3 inches depth) currently about $2,700-2999

  2. Ritfit M3 (60.4 inches of depth including stabilizing feet) currently about $2,700-2,999

  3. GetRxd tornado compact smith machine (32 inches depth) currently about $4,000

also looked at the Rep Fitness Summit All in One Athena, but it just seems too expensive. (also considering only getting the uprights with the 26" crossmembers to start. and then upgrading slowly over time)

What do y'all think? I want to keep it as budget friendly as possible, but since it is so much money i just want to make sure i am purchasing the right one for me.

Which rack is best for me?

I am trying to stay as budget friendly as possible while still getting something that will do it all and still be good quality.

I am trying to stay under 84” for the height,
Looking for as little depth as possible and for it to have the traditional half rack, cable pulley system with weight stacks, and a vertical smith machine.

The mikolo Anubis 2.0 ultimate looked perfect but unfortunately it’s too tall. It would work for some parts of my garage but most of it is covered by the garage door rails, so I am not sure I want to get one that I won’t be able to put it anywhere I choose.

I looked at the rep fitness summit all in one Athena and the get rxd compact smith machine rack, but they are over $1,000 more just for the rack itself.

So far, the best one to fit my needs seems to be the Ritfit m3, even though the front foot stabilizers are a bit long, (I wonder if I can do without those), but people are saying online it’s overpriced for what it is and for that price you can get a more reputable brand like rep.

What do y’all think
The ritfit m3 has everything and is 84” tall, but it just came out so I don’t have any videos to watch reviews on it

How to send homeowner/customer outstanding balance to debt collectors and to report to the credit bureaus?

Hello, I operate a small HVAC business in Texas and wanted to know if anybody implements debt collection/ credit agency reporting for their business and how I would begin to do this process?

I am looking for assistance on what is needed to report the debt, any licensed debt collection agency recommendations (in Texas) that specialize in home improvement or home service business debt, and just the overall protocol and procedures to be able to integrate this in my business. Thank you

Should I use a walking pad or a treadmill?

Hello! I recently moved into my first home and able to have my own dedicated office and workout space. This room has enough space to put a treadmill, but I also have a peloton and I don’t want it to be too crammed. I am stuck between putting a treadmill or a walking pad. Any advice on recommended brands or ideas would be appreciated.

I currently have the Nordic track t6.5s, it is At my mom’s house currently and I may leave it to her and get a walking pad, because I don’t use it other than just for steps. My intention is to go to the gym and do strength training workouts, and run/walk outdoors. I would only use a treadmill/ walking pad to help me reach my step goal daily. With this being said, that is why I’m debating if I should get a walking pad instead, and my mom really loves using my treadmill at her house anyway so I thought it sounds like a good idea to give her my treadmill and get a walking pad. I also like that I would be able to pick up the walking pad and walk in my bedroom or in the living room while watching tv. What do y’all think? The only reason I ask, is because I I have only ever used a treadmill and I am used to the sturdiness of it. But it takes a lot of space and it cannot be moved around.
