I understand ghosting strangers, but why do people ghost people they know?

People never reach out first, they never reciprocate. They make plans then completely disappear. And when I say never I mean it. It's gotten so bad. Doesn't matter if it's someone I just met, or people I've known for 30 years, people I'm supposed to pay for projects, and everything in between.

Is anyone else feeling this? What do you do about it?

Okay so I have a good result... where to from here (safely)?

After suspecting a vitamin D deficiency, I supplemented for about 90 days, averaging roughly 2,800 IU/day (about 250,000 IU total), with doses ranging from 1,000-10,000 IU depending on sunlight, which I tracked using D Minder. I’m 5’8” with a BMI of 25.

I finally had my level tested and it came back at 57 ng/mL. Based on reverse calculations, I was likely around 19-28 ng/mL before supplementing. Since reducing my intake a bit, D Minder estimates I’m now around 51 ng/mL.

The reason I’m asking is that I feel dramatically better than I did before. Over the last couple of weeks my sleep, mood, motivation, anxiety, and even longstanding gut issues (along with taking SEED probiotics) have all improved significantly. Also worth noting I normally get at least one bad summer cold. I was even around my mom who had a cold, and two of my kids caught it. But for me, not even a sniffle.

My question is: Should I aim to maintain this level with something like 2,000 IU/day, or let it drift lower because the test itself said this level could be dangerous? I definitely don’t want to become deficient again, but I don't want hypercalcemia either. I’ll be discussing it with my doctor as well, but I’d appreciate any thoughts.

Since buying my Neo in April, I can count the number of times I've used my iPad on my hand five times.

I used it exactly once, and just to check on my singing monsters... I think it's time to sell it.

The original launch of the Neo feels like a fever dream.

Seriously I can't believe the value it was. Almost like a mistake!

The price in Canada went up substantially, and the fun is over now that it's $1149 for the Touch ID version and $949 for the 256, with no ed pricing. But it was amazing while it lasted! I wonder how sales are doing now? I personally wouldn't have paid the current prices.

WHY does Hello Fresh continue to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory?!

I took a 6 month break from HF after the quality of produce and meat got so bad, but they enticed me back because they offered me an incentive as they do, and my kids were wanting some of the meals again. So I caved. But the last three weeks the produce has been BEYOND disgusting. Like for a green onion to become so rotten that the bag is full of liquid, or cabbage to turn black, would take literally MONTHS in my fridge. I told the guy on the phone it's disgusting that they call themselves hello fresh and someone in the factory has the absolute audacity to put that already CLEARLY rotten food in my bag. We're talking so rotten my kitchen smells after throwing it out for two hours. Are they trying to kill me?!

Anyway, what frustrates me so much is HF it were done right it would be perfect. PERFECT IDEA. Such a fantastic service, such a great way to get varied meals and not rely as much on takeout. There is SO MUCH good going on here but they seem addicted to just fucking it up week after week with the actual food itself.

Someone make it make sense.

What is TikTok for? And where did social media go?

I am at a point in my elder millennialness where I'm finally starting to feel actually old.

I was there for the start of it all. The first internet, then the original sort of "SOCIAL media": MSN, MySpace, early facebook. As things evolved, I could understand how the platforms were different. Facebook for keeping tabs on your friend "is" doing (literally), Instagram was for pictures, YouTube for Videos, Twitter for quick banter. Then TikTok came along and Snap Chat. And god knows what else. I got off the train at this point, having enough to worry about. Shortly after, though, the "real" social media started drifting away and now, all the platforms are just these short reels, ads, and I don't remember the last time I had a meaningful conversation with someone on the internet whom I know, nor do I recall even seeing an actual update on facebook from the people I actually am friends with and follow, which is quite disappointing.

So... I took the leap and downloaded TikTok. But like... what's the point of this? I get bored quickly and click off of the app, not returning for months at a time. How is it that this concept essentially ate all the other platforms. Is it juts that it's capturing a type of attention that I don't possess?

Now it's not SOCIAL media, it's social MEDIA for sure... mostly ads. And I'm pretty much done with all of it. Why did this prevail? Is brain rot really that valuable? Apparently so...

So yesterday my 8 y/o daughter got her first pair of glasses. She was excited to show them off, so we texted my parents a picture, no reply. But this morning I was texted a picture of the egg they made for breakfast...

I am honestly so confused where their minds must be.

I found some proof of the inflation at my local pub... it's not all in your head.

I found a menu from my local pub on my computer from 2018 and the comparison to their current menu is astounding, not to mention that the tipping expectation has also changed from 10% at that time to 20%+ today on top of these already higher prices. I couldn't find a beer price, but today a pint is over $10, and an Earls menu I also found from the same time is showing around $7.

Basic Poutine: $7 in 2018, $12.50 in 2026 (78%)

Chicken Wings: $12 to $19 (58%)

Fish Tacos: $11 to $19 (73%)

Mac n Cheese with Bacon: $17.25 to $22 (28%)

Basic Cheeseburger with bacon: $16.50 to $26.00 (58%)

Now do the same thing at the grocery story, and really all expenses have increased by this much or more. Our property taxes have more than doubled, for example, being $1,700 in 2018 and now $3,700. There's a lot of gaslighting in this group making people feel bad about not being able to save better, but the truth is cost of living is absolutely out of control now, houses are easily 10X salary in most cities (some nearing 20X) and I don't know how much longer this can go on for without wages adjusting, but then inflation will just get worse...

How do people do it?!

I'm so exhausted by the absolute barage of adulting expenses.

The little things like kids' shoes wearing out are starting to add up, but then the car needs a new windshield ($500) and brake work ($500+), in the fall I'm going to ned new tires ($900+), the RO water system needs a new filter ($200), wife and kids both need new glasses ($500+)... that's just this month.

Ongoing we need to get the carpets replaced, probably with wood floor at a cost of around $12,000, the cats are going to have vet bills, my wife crashed up one car and it needs $4,000 of repairs a year ago that we couldn't afford to deal with then and can't now, and it's JUST enough where I'm not sure if I should pay the $1,000 deductible and face rate hikes or just pay it outright.... like shit is just absolutely never ending. Oh and I'd been delaying filing my taxes out of fear I owed more... and I do. So there goes another $3,000.

How is anyone keeping up with all this shit I just can't seem to do it.

Oh and groceries, property tax, condo fees, gas, and living expenses are now double what they were 5 years ago...

Finished my album a few months ago, but completely stuck

I have realized I have essentially no plan for artwork or marketing, and so I've just been sitting on all this finished music. I'm feeling so done with social media these days... which is of course a terrible spot to be in if you want to reach anyone. Anyone in this same rut?

How to get D tested in Canada?

I've been supplementing higher doses and tracking my estimated number with D Minder. I asked my doctor before this to get tested, but he said they don't test in Canada because everyone is presumed deficient. Now that I've been supplementing about 2 months I'd like to get tested within 30 days to see where my numbers are at, if I should raise or lower dosage etc.

Does anyone know of private labs that will do this? We don't have any private clinics that I'm aware of they are all government run.

What is one "adult" thing that you just refuse to do?

For me, it's making my bed. My logic is, I hate doing it, there's just no point since I'm just going to get back in in a few hours anyway, and nobody will see it between now until then. Also, I feel like it helps it to air out.

Just a useless task that I'll never bother with... what's yours?

End of an era. Has ANYONE seen Kinder's Teriyaki?!

Last night I made my last batch of wings with the glorious Kinder's Teriyaki. I'm also such a great friend that I gave my spare bottle to a friend for his birthday (he also loves the sauce) in March because I assumed it would be back for summer. (BIG MISTAKE LOL).

Has anyone seen this anywhere? I've tried to order on the Kinder website but they don't have quite the same thing and they don't ship to Canada.

Tired of the complaining in this group

You know what? I get it. People put the milk back wrong, you're mad about someone's parking job, you had a bad pre-scan experience but...

Honestly who cares? I'm here for product reviews, updates, and to connect with other Costco fans. Why is there so much complaining and whining in this group?!
