I say to you today, my friends, that even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the Canadian dream.

I have a dream that one day this planet will rise up and live out the true meaning of its ultimate creed: "Je me souviens" and "A mari usque ad mare" - from sea to shining sea, and across every single border.

I have a dream that one day, as vividly illustrated here, the great landmasses of this world will shed their old divisions and unite under the majestic, crimson glow of the maple leaf.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a world where every nation is a province, where every citizen defaults to a polite "sorry" when bumped, and where they will not be judged by the harshness of their winters, but by the warmth of their hospitality and the content of their character.

I have a dream today!

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be filled with maple syrup, every hill and mountain shall be made low for a hockey rink, the rough places of geopolitics will be made plain, and the crooked borders will be made straight. And the glory of Canada Day shall be revealed, and all flesh shall celebrate it together!

Official Statement

The Ecuadorian Football Federation has filed a complaint over extra-football incidents before the round of 16 match. This behavior strays far from the fair play, equity and unity a World Cup should represent.

The FEF respectfully urges authorities to pay closer attention and take measures to protect our players, staff and fans. We trust these unsportsmanlike acts will not tarnish the football celebration uniting two brother countries and that respect, fair competition and fair play will prevail.

Ecuador will always respond on the pitch.
