Stopping caffeine made them worse for me

Background: -6 and -6.25 in both of my eyes so high myopia. Stopping caffeine is unrelated it’s because my eye doc said my optic nerve is a bit larger but nothing of concern, just to keep getting yearly checkups. Still freaked me out enough to stop and quit caffeine because I know caffeine is a glaucoma risk. Day 8 of no caffeine here

Anyway people said on here that caffeine made it worse for them. So I was hoping to see an improvement in floaters(and VSS) when I quit caffeine but that did not happen lol. Sometimes it feels worse lol.

Anyway I am still not going to drink caffeine, and I will keep it up. Just thought I would report my findings to anyone interested.

My findings for me

Disclaimer + Background: Your symptoms may vary. But background is I am a high myope with -6 and -6.25 prescriptions in my eyes. Also struggle with floaters around same time my VSS became noticeable(April 2024 ish).

So here is something I noticed about myself, in terms of symptoms and wonder if anyone has anything similar.

Symptoms + info:

  1. Vortex: sky vortex but also can occur on any plain surface outdoors. Only occurs when I am super tired and in the evening usually
  2. Double vision: rare, once again when I am super tired and/or strained
  3. Afterimage: not rare, and kinda constant especially under bright light or outdoors.
  4. Static in dark: only indoors not outdoors or when driving
  5. Random afterimages(so like afterimages but I never even saw anything): couple times a day at most
  6. Floaters: not VSS but I see these constantly
  7. Random black dots in vision that go away in milliseconds: couple times a day. They’re the size of a needle head or smaller
  8. Non dominant eye trips out when doing Amsler grid and not blinking: Yes lol. I know I am not alone on this, found a lot of old threads about this. Troxler effect apparently but idk tbh, seems like troxler isn’t black mine is black. But I have heard you don’t need to stare at the Amsler grid for more than a few seconds and you are allowed to blink. Since this is transient, and goes away if you move your eye or blink may not be an eye issue.
  9. BFEP: yes whenever I look at a blue or even gray sky tbh
  10. Random shapes and colors when eyes are closed: Once in a while but rare
  11. Flickering in a dark room in the periphery: once in a while but rare

But yeah these are my symptoms. Anyone’s look similar?

When does it get better

Day 6 of 0 caf and I don’t feel any better than I did on day 1. My sleep is actually more disturbed I go to bed at 11 PM and wake up at 4 AM. You would think quitting caf would improve sleep…

Quitting caffeine day 6 - VSS seems worse?

So I have been reading here that quitting caffeine helped some of you guys in terms of VSS. I am on a caffeine detox rn for similar reasons(I have -6 myopia in both eyes and want to quit caffeine just in case since it’s a glaucoma risk and I am also severely addicted lol), but I noticed my VSS symptoms are worse with caffeine not in my system…

Is it possible it will get better and I am just in the withdrawal stage now(it has been 6 days though) or do any of you have experience with worsening VSS off caffeine?

Gonna try - 24M since age 5

I’ve been using Afrin/Otrivin since I was 5 daily. My parents just bought it once when I was sick and that was that. I love them still but man were they poorly educated.

I bought Flonase and am weaning off. I’m 3 days in, and my goal rn is to only use Afrin in the evening(I use it a few times a day normally). I’ve been successful with this and use it only before sleep and once in between cuz the congestion be waking me up lol.

Lot of mouth breathing rn feels disgusting but I gotta try lol.

But the idea is after a month of this do only one nostril and then wean off.

Given the fact I used this shit during my developmental age and for a long ass time I anticipate it’ll be a rocky recovery, if even possible lol.

But the idea is to see an ENT if I fail or if quitting doesn’t do much. I do have a deviated septum diagnosed when I was a wee lad, so should probably see them anyway.

Is it crazy that am in love with my situationship?

I met this guy online and we hung out 3 times before we have so much in common and connected on crazy levels but he made it clear he has commitment issues and can't be in a relationship and i chose for us to be friends because he's a great man to be around and someone you want to be friends with but i just can't get over him i met couple other guys and still can't get over him he's just so perfect and sweet talker it hurts

[Perspective] Clav and others like him are correct about the blackpill, and the women hating either don’t like that people are finding out, or are jealous of the women in his video. I am not a fan of Clav by any means but it’s funny seeing this lol
