Last additions before college ( + full collection)

About 3 years ago, I found my parents’ collection of 100 or so CDs. Classic albums, the stuff I grew up listening to. When I got my car I would spin them everywhere. It started my collecting journey. Every weekend, I’d be at the thrift stores, estate sales, and the absolute godsend that is Half Price Books, in addition to grabbing the rarer stuff off Discogs and eBay. In that time my collection has grown to over 730 CDs of every genre imaginable. I won’t be able to take them with me, but they’ll be here waiting, and I’ll continue to accumulate more whenever I can. It’s gonna be slower for a while though. This is the last haul for now. Y‘all can view my full collection on Discogs here!

Original Up Records CDs

Very pleased to have found Contemporary Movement. All that’s missing is 1975, but it’s actually in the mail. Sure, you could buy the capsule losing contact set and have it all the same, but something about owning a piece of the actual time period speaks to me.

I wouldn’t get your hopes up

Fact is, despite all the vague “don’t believe everything you read” posts from Jim, Stacy, and AJ Good, no one has denied it. No one has flatly said “Sid is still in the band, this is outright false.” They‘re saying what they can to try to calm some people‘s nerves, but chances are we get an official statement sometime today with confirmation and maybe some reasoning. If it was false the band would’ve made that clear by now. But I don’t think Sid’s part of it anymore.

Anyone got an original Contemporary Movement CD they'd like to sell?

Looking for the 2000 Up release. Willing to pay a fair price! I'd just like it to go along with my original Stratosphere.

Y’all should listen to Grandaddy

If you want something that captures a bit of that TH vibe you should absolutely check them out. Thats not to say it’s gonna be exactly the same, but if you want interesting production, great and abstract lyrics (this is an area of similarity for sure), and just an overall killer sound to fill that TH void, look no further.

This is one of my favorite tracks. Incredibly well written and catchy. also happens to open up the album if you want to keep it going from there. Check em out, absolutely worth your while!

New additions from the past few weeks

All kinds of stuff, with obscurity varying from hyper viral to unavailable on the internet. Let me know if you see something you like or something you’re curious about!

Dropped my POD XT - Bottom row of buttons doesn't work now

It wasnt a super long drop (3ish feet?), and it landed upright, on its feet. Everything else works fine, but for some reason the Edit button and the 4 buttons used to navigate and tweak parameters have just stopped registering. I'm really not sure what could've happened, and taking the back off is no real use because I can't seem to access the top of the board because the knobs don't seem to come off. Seeing as there's plenty of air in the thing and its really just a PCB mounted to a metal frame, I don't know what went wrong. If anyone knows how to fix it or has a solution that would be great, because right now I can't make any meaningful presets or tweak anything.

UMC 1820 Crackles and Pops during playback

This is during any sort of audio playback on any output. Initially I assumed it was an issue with my DAW, but after setting it to my PC's main output and listening to some audio files with my DAW closed it was still happening. It's intermittent, every 5-10 seconds it'll pop in one ear or both. I have the latest driver installed, I've adjusted everything and tried every input, I've changed USB ports on my PC (which worked once in the past but doesn't seem to anymore), tried SPDIF and ADAT, literally any parameter that might change something. I also made sure the jacks were clean. I'm really at a loss here, so any help is greatly appreciated!

It I had a nickel for every time a highly influential 90’s shoegaze band released an incredible album after over 20 years of inactivity with a purple cover and whose only official CD issues were in gatefold cardboard sleeves…

I’d have two nickels. But it’s weird that it happened twice.

Experimental Aircraft

Super underrated band. Two albums and an EP, not a bad track to be found. Finally completed the physical collection, stoked because Third Transmission is very difficult to track down. Highly recommend checking them out if you’ve never heard of them, you won’t regret it!
