Ended a practice session with some fun.

Went out back and did some target practice, (Glock 20, Bone Stock) and finished the session with a single round of 155gr Underwood Hollow point.

I have to give credit where due.

So this is my third post about my struggles with getting my 2016 2.7 transmission recall done and I've already covered it with a lot of ranting and raving on my part. (I admit I have a short temper at times but come on my transmission was working) *Breathe*

Ok, If you want to read all about it you can find it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/f150ecoboost/s/06uBL2mtDa

I haven't heard anything from the dealership since the last phone I made a couple of weeks ago so today I called them again. I skipped the service manager and spoke to the original service lady from the beginning of this mess. She told me (Grain Of Salt I know) that she has been going back and forth with Ford about covering it because mine may have been the first to grenade after the recall but was a long way from the last. They've had a total of 8 do the exact same thing. They've also spoken to other Ford dealers that the parent company owns and they are seeing the same thing, the recall breaks transmissions. (Not all but enough to no longer be a coincidence.) She said no promises but Ford is starting to come around about it and she will call me back again soon.

Considering Ram

So my "current" truck is a 2016 F-150 2.7 XL super cab 4x4. Somehow while performing the recall for the transmission the dealership or Ford fried my transmission. No problem before the "fix" need a new transmission after. Somehow it's my fault according to Ford and the dealership.

So I'm now shopping for a new truck. I do occasionally tow sometimes as much as 5-6000 lbs when going to the dump, occasionally haul wood over a mountain to my wife's crazy uncle nobody talks about.

Budget is $25k or less but reliability is the most important thing. Gas mileage is a distant second and this time I would like a crew cab. I don't need the best of the best because my truck is used as a truck and not an oversized car.

So my question is what years, trims, should I rule out immediately and what should I look for?

Probably should also add I live in southern Vermont, so prices will be higher than sane places.

The last Ford I'll buy.

So the dealership called and told me my transmission is toast needs replacement, not because of anything they did, $10,000 for the fix. Called Ford, they took the position of the dealership did the recall before the code pops up so Ford doesn't care. I'm not covered with the customer satisfaction warranty. I'm done. The truck is now toast even though it ran perfectly right up until the night before and did exactly what the recall was as for. Sudden shift to 2nd no power. So Ford doesn't give a rats ass about their customers. Give us money and fuck off.

2016 F150, 2.7, XL, stock everything, Random loss of power.

It still had the original battery in it so prior to a upcoming big trip I changed the battery on July 4th. (Think I posted about this) On the way home I'm climbing a hill and it feels like someone threw an anchor out the back because it just ain't going near the top. Finally takes off everything is fine. I learn about the Battery Management System and reset it using the high beam/brake pedal method. Thought everything was ok for the next week or so. The truck went in for the transmission recall on the 17th. The night before I experienced everything that it warned about. Sudden downshift to 2nd, transmission seemingly in neutral while accelerating, etc. Closest thing I can think to describe it is when I used to drive a stick shift and an asshole buddy would slap it out of gear. Managed to get it there and told them what happened. Next day they call all fixed. That was a lie. I left the driveway of the dealership no power at all, rolling speed 3mph then it caught and I got going. did it 3 times in the next 2 miles. Called them, brought it right back never turned it off. Service manager drove I rode with him and it didn't do it. I leave again and it does it even worse. Now I'm pissed, I drive back tell him to get in we're going for a ride. Go to leave the dealership again and we almost get smacked by a semi that for some reason would not slow down for anything. I had plenty of time until the no power thing and then it caught with about 3 car lengths to go before he slammed into the managers side. Truck no powers 4 more times and completely stalls while stopped at a light. Scared the \*\*\*\* out of him to where he took the truck and reset the PCM and TCM. (He said originally they just reset the TCM per the recall notice) I went back later after he called and said we test drove it again and it's good now. I had a trip to Virginia the next day so I left the truck home, borrowed another. My daughter drove the truck the following Monday and said it happened again. No power. She had to shut it off and restart the truck and it was fine again. They called the dealership and were told that they did everything correctly and it would be $209 diagnostic fee to figure it out because it's not the recall. Truck sat the rest of the week. I got home yesterday and didn't get a chance until today to look at it. Hooked up forscan, no codes, nothing, everything is normal. I reset the Battery Management system with forscan instead of the headlights/brake pedal thing. (Just because this all originally started right after the battery was changed. Battery is an H6.) I run checks on everything, monitor transmission, engine, fuel, air, battery, everything I can think of while driving it. (Wife had the computer and was watching) Truck is running fine. The only symptom now is a hard shift when wide open to the point of a hard clunk 1st to 2nd. Also feels like the u-joint might need to be replaced. Power is off the charts fine though. The only other thing I noticed is when I looked up the battery type in forscan, it said H7 and the battery is marked H6.

So, I am again asking for help from the people that are a hell of a lot more knowledgeable than I am. Should I drain the transmission and replace the filter? I'm already planning on looking at the U-Joint as soon as I can get it on a lift. (Crawling under a non-lifted truck at 50 years old is not happening with my waistline from a desk job. lol) It's the 6R80 Transmission and I know they're usually bulletproof.

Update: Took the truck for another ride tonight across town and P0731 code and a wrench light. "Error code **P0731** on a 2016 Ford F-150 means **Gear 1 Incorrect Ratio**, indicating that your 6R80 6-speed transmission is slipping or failing to engage first gear properly. The most common causes for this specific truck are a defective molded leadframe (speed sensor assembly), low or burnt transmission fluid, or a worn shift solenoid." So I think this still ties back to the recall from before I left.

▲ 228 r/Starfield

It took me 84 hours of playtime, but I finally figured out why Starfield just feels different.

I'm going to start off saying I've only been playing for 84 hours but I truly like this game a lot. It is everything I wanted in a starship game, I spend a lot of time building and tweaking the ships, (More than I should TBH) and I like the exploring, the scenery, even the story I've done so far.

I played 1,333.5 hours of Fallout 4 and I stupidly thought that this would be close to that, same company, same overall vibe. It just dawned on me this afternoon what has been like an itch I couldn't scratch since I started Starfield. The lack of humor. In Fallout I read every note, every file on every computer because it was odd, funny, or just plain made me look at my screen like a Confused German Shepherd. There is none of that so far. It has all been cut and dry, nothing crazy, no head scratching.

Like I said, after 84 hours I REALLY LIKE this game, but I don't love it like I did fallout and it just seems shallow, no ridiculous back story on a computer about a family murdering people for fun. Nothing crazier than space pirates looking for their next score.

I realize they're different games with different genres, but I really miss the crazy.

Sudden loss of power after changing the battery.

So my 2016 2.7 still had the original battery in it and after almost 11 years it was time. I swapped it out with a H6 Diehard Platnum. Truck drove fine rest of the day no issues. Went to fireworks on Saturday night, started up fine and was on the way home when all power was just gone halfway up a pretty steep hill. Gave it some gas and it was barely moving but when I hit the top and it leveled out she took off again like nothing happened. No lights on the dash. Sunday took it downtown and made it roughly 3/4 of a mile from my house and loss all power again only this time on flat road no dash lights again. Pulled over, shut it off and restarted problem gone again. Any ideas on what is going on? I have to take it on a 600 + mile trip from Vermont to Virginia on the 18th for work and I don't want to get halfway there and break down.
