1978 Seiko Grand Quartz 9943-8030 Twin Quartz today. :)
The only vintage watch in my current collection is a 1978 Seiko Grand Quartz 9943-8030.
Here is my late-70s high-accuracy quartz watch from the era when Seiko started treating quartz as a serious watchmaking material. It has a Twin Quartz movement that uses temperature compensation to achieve an impressive annual accuracy rating of about ±10 seconds per year. It has that cool vintage Grand Quartz case: slim, precise, slightly formal, and unmistakably Japanese. I consider this a true watch nerd’s watch, quietly flexing engineering and precision credibility. The grandfather HAQ. :)
Selling my Casio G-Shock x Gorillaz “The Now Now” collaboration model, ref. GW-B5600GZ-1. This is a discontinued special-edition 5600 square with the Gorillaz / The Now Now colorway and the unique “NOW” backlight.
While a fun collab, it is still a 5600 G-Shock underneath with Tough Solar, Multi-Band 6 atomic timekeeping, Bluetooth smartphone sync, shock resistance, 200m water resistance, and a positive display.

Happy Father’s Day to all dads, bio, step, chosen, and mentor-types.
Today I’m wearing my Citizen AQ4100-57L while thinking about what it means to be a steady presence for my kids and others. I have an “if I wear it, I must share it” rule with this one.
Hope you all have a wonderful day and feel the love and appreciation of the people you’ve loved, guided, and shown up for. :)
I recently purchased my first vintage piece: a Seiko Grand Quartz Twin Quartz 9943-8030. It is currently shipping from Japan, and I’m pretty stoked.
It should fit nicely with the high-accuracy / high-quality quartz theme that has slowly become the main thread through my collection.
Because I try to stick to a one-in / one-out rule, the likely outgoing piece is the Citizen x seconde/seconde/ “Katana” Tsuyosa. I still think it is a fun watch, but the Grand Quartz feels more aligned with where the collection is headed.
So this is the box as it sits right now — with one vintage HAQ piece incoming.
What do you all think of the collection?

This has been a great little watch over the years.
The YEMA2000 movement has been buttery smooth and still lands around +9ish spd.
I liked the bracelet style and design that came with the watch, but it had some articulation issues, unfortunately Yema was less than interested in fixing my problems. That was a few years ago, and they seem to be better these days - but I have just worn it on the MN elastic strap and love it.
