Was building around the core of Rillaboom, Incineroar, and Salamence. Honestly Golisopod is the only one that can be swapped for Kingambit.

Something I just noticed, Golisopod has Iron Defense here, it's wrong. It's supposed to be Iron Head.

This team is based off of a Hard TR team I used last month in Champions and a Sand team I saw online. It does really good against many of the meta teams I've played against, but I have found it struggled in gimmick teams. I'm not sure if that's because I played badly, or that was a bad match up though. If you have suggestions, let me know and I will try them out.

Here's the breakdown:

Tyranitar

Mega Tyranitar is the more used mega on the team. It's goal is to counter opposing weather setters, allow Excadrill to sweep, and get chip with Rock Slide. Knock Off helps against Pokémon like Sinestea, and Low Kick is here to counter Kingambits. Ice Punch isn't on this set, but I have considered running it instead due to issues I've experienced with Garchomps. However that opens a weakness to Kingambit as Excadrill can't KO with a High Horsepower.

Excadrill

The big sweeper on the team and the other half of my Sand Core. High Horsepower is used here over Earthquake because it's both stronger against a single target (specifically Archaludon which is a guaranteed 2HKO) and because most of my team has a weakness to ground. This is the biggest problem on my team that I need to learn to fix. Rock Slide is here to counter Charizards and get chip when needed. Iron Head for Fairy Counters, especially for M-Floette, Sylveon, and others like that.

Milotic

Huge support player. After 1 coil Hypnosis has an 80% chance of hitting. After 2 it's 100%. Being able to get a great form of sleep, along with countering Intimidate users is incredible. Muddy Water also helps with lowering accuracy, yet I've had one time where that accuracy dropped helped.

Whimsicott

Here to set Tailwind with the Sand core of my team. Worry Seed is fun tech against specific Pokémon. You can stop Rotoms and Mega Delphox from Levitating, prevent Talonflame from having their priority moves active even at full, stop Venusaurs from getting a Sun boost if you can't set up Sand, but most importantly it can prevent Staraptor from getting boosts. I have 1 speed Stat in order to outspeed univested Whimsicotts, but I'm not sure how useful that is when I find more to be max speed.

Farigaraf

Trick Roomer in my trick room core. This is a weird set that I've found works great. Psychic is primary stab here, mostly just to threaten Mega-Venu, Staraptor, and other mons weak to psychic. Thunderbolt is to KO Pelippers. This set is old though, and I may switch to Hypervoice instead for better chip damage. Finally Roar is for fun tech to counter opponents trying to undo trick room.

Mawile

The damage dealer in the trick room core. Tyranitar does also gain a benefit, so occasionally I don't Mega Mawile if the extra damage from Mega Tar is better. Hyper Cutter was a complete accident. But after I realized it blocked Intimidate, I've kept it. Sucker Punch, Iron Head, Play Rough, it's literally played as a better Kingambit.

Some changes I'm going to make: Mawile will change to Brave Nature. Tyranitar is fine where it is, as that extra speed is helpful in tailwind. I think the best thing I need to add is a Fake Out Pokémon.

My leads generally are Whimsicott + Tyranitar, Tyranitar + Excadrill, Tyranitar + Milotic, Farigaraf + Milotic, Farigaraf + Tyranitar, Farigaraf + Mawile, and very rarely, Farigaraf + Whimsicott.

I'm new to VGC, and watching Wolfe has given me some fundamentals, but I'm still new to teambuilding. Any advice would be appreciated.

The hard part of this question is can you tera a Mega or not. And if so, should you?

I never played with Terastilization, and from what I've heard from many people in the competitive community, it was the better gimmick of the 2 gens I missed (Dynamax was the other one) and has been considered by a few to be the best regional gimmick.

We still don't know how GameFreak will handle megas + tera/dynamax, but say you could mega and tera at the same time, how would that change the meta? What about restricting Pokémon to only one form?

Also ignore the fact that in the first scenario Charizard Y basically gets adaptability heat waves and gets tankier against rock types, with the downside of not being able to use it simultaneously with Garchomp EQs.

I'm about midway through my playthrough of White 2 and I'm struggling to pick between a few final Pokémon for the last 3 slots on my team. My plan is to use as little Gen 5 Pokémon as I can since I did that in Black 2, and I plan on doing a White playthrough after this. So I need 3 Pokémon to fill these last 3 slots (I know Metagross is late game, but I plan on having Magnezone on my team until then)
