resusing summer program essay for common app personal essay and more
I really really like the summer program essay, the prompt is pretty similar. I'm not applying to the college I went to the program at. Is this frowned upon???

I’m coming off a bleach buzz and my natural hair is dark brown. Should I grow it out or get a cut (if so what cut?) for back to school. Blowout taper? Modern mullet? Open to any suggestion
I’m doing BME + pre med, looking for a laptop to last me into med school.
I'm going into my final year of high school. After I graduate, I am going into a biomedical engineering bachelor's along with a premed track. I will be going into med school after undergrad probably, thats my plan right now. Right now, I have been looking at Lenovos and Macbooks, but am very open to suggestions. Right now I am on a ASUS Vivo book 15. I do use apple devices so they would integrate with MacBook.
Here are my constraints
- Budget of 1500 USD maximum. If anyone is willing can they give me a suggestion for 1000USD, 1250USD, and 1500USD, just to compare different price points.
- 8+ hours of battery life
- 16+ gigs of detatated wam
- 512gb
- lifespan - I do not imagine that BME will be very cad heavy. I'm really just looking for something that can last me at least to the beginning of med school, so 5ish years at least. Thank you everyone!!
I’m a top student (1590) , and have been told that I have chances for t10s. I’m middle low income and from the rural Midwest. I don’t personally care about the prestige of my undergrad, but if it benefits my career then I’m all for it. There is a unique thing about my financial aid asset status that would only let me get substantial aid from a couple of schools (UChicago, Stanford) (yes I’ve emailed and I’m certain) t30s and 20s aren’t really an option for financial aid reasons.
If I had the choice, I would do biomedical engineering + pre med, to keep my options open. I’m motivated and willing to do whatever it takes to graduate with as little debt as possible.
I do however care about the prestige of my med school, partially for career advancement reasons but mainly for financial aid reasons. I’m all about saving money. For me, gettin into JHUSOM would be 150k cheaper than my state school.
My state schools would cost the same as if I were to attend Stanford or UChicago. People often say that undergrad prestige only matters if you are trying to get into top med schools. So the question here really is whether biting the bullet and facing the grade deflation will help me get into a top med school that much?? Is the environment too competitive? More research opportunities vs the ability to be a standout?
Note: my state schools are Kansas university, Kansas state university, and I would prob be in honors for both of them.
It’s also worth mentioning that I have 33 DE credits that transfer to my state school that aren’t med school pre req. obv they won’t transfer to Stanford or chi
What is the best career for me?
Is this the right sub for this? Lmk if it’s not and I’ll take it down
Background: I’m a top high school student applying to colleges this year (4.0 GPA 1590 SAT) I’m teachable, motivated, and willing to learn almost anything and go through any amount of schooling to end up where I want to end up\*\*. I’m kind of a poly math, but I live in a very rural area so I don’t have much exposure to many degrees or career types.\*\* I’ve always had a knack for stem but am also interested in humanities. I don’t mean to treat you guys like a search engine, but I guess I am.
Note - top colleges are an option because I would qualify for significant need based financial aid
I feel a little frustrated because it seems like the most ethical jobs are the ones that pay the less. Ex. if you’re an environmental lawyer you’re making nothing to someone defending a corporation. In general it seems like anyone fighting the good fight is just getting battered down, which I’m okay with, but to an extent.
People seriously throw me any idea you have I’m pretty overwhelmed. Some majors I’m thinking about are, Biomedical engineering, premed, patent law, environmental science, Econ.
Here are the things that are most important to me.
2 - Flexibility - my main goal is to travel the world. Preferably under 45 hours a week with remote options. My real contention is that I just don’t want to wake up one day and be 50 and feel like life passed me by.

This is the major path I want to take, mainly because I’m conflicted. I’m a top student (4.0 36 ACT), but I understand this path is difficult and probably would cause a lot of strain. If I end up liking pre med over biomed or vice versa I will hone in and drop the other one. I have 40 DE credits that transfer to my state school but not UChicago.
Should I go to my state school (t100 for engineering) or should i go to UChicago for this specific path? (Assuming I’m admitted, it’s the college of choice for financial aid and locality reasons)
I’ve heard that UChicago has absolutely backbreaking grade deflation, meanwhile I could probably be a standout at my state school if I worked at it. Is it really worth it? What do I gain by going to UChicago? Research opportunities? Connections? It’s not like I need corporate connections for pre med. UChicago’s PME isn’t ABET accredited, is this something I should be worried about??
It would cost roughly the same, state school might be a little less.
This is going to be jumbled and repetitive but I’m extremely confused so cut me some slack. Okay so basically, there is a lot of conflicting information online about whether your farms will count against you in equity when determining need based aid with these top private schools (schools that have the CSS and not FAFSA). Every search yields a different answer as to whether the school will count it against me.
Basically, my family and I live on our farm. Our farm doesn’t really produce income and it has no employees. The farmland surrounding our house could probably be value at 160-175k. Our income is low enough that I would be getting a full ride from all of t10s if they don’t count the farm (which is why it’s so important that I find this out so I can determine what my options truly are)
Does anyone have any personal experience with how CSS institutions treat family farms or know anything that I don’t??
Im currently looking at applying early to either UChicago or Stanford, but im having a really hard time determining if I will be going for free or paying 20k a year. (because UChicago’s aid calculator isn’t updated to their new initiative!!!!) Stanford’s NPC is updated and I don’t believe that they count farms against you because 1 they didn’t ask me about it and 2 it was an extremely reasonable estimate. As far as I can tell, Stanford and UChicago are the only two t10s that don’t count a farm against you in the CSS?? Is this wrong??
What is this major most comparable to at a normal university? Chemical engineering? Molecular biology? Is it really engineering (ie would it be a suitable undergrad for patent law)
Can someone please answer these question for me? I’m sorry if they’re vague or hard to answer, I’m just kinda clueless as to what I want to do. I’m not sure if this is a low effort post. These are the majors I’m really considering. I’ve done my own research but it’s kind of difficult when google AI gives the same bland response that just panders to your specific question.
- is BME probably the most apt to accompany a pre med track? What is the next best thing? I have about 35 Transferable DE credits so fitting it into the schedule isn’t the problem.
- is it true that chemE has trouble finding a job? Is this true for any other majors? If so, why??
- which major spends the most time on the job site and which one spends the least?
- which major has the most potential for hybrid/remote work balance?
I’m doing it without a plan (I know I know I’m sorry) and have about 84 days until race day. Did 26 miles this week with my longest run being 9 miles at 9:30/mile at 153 BPM. Am I still on track? I’m young and would hesitantly say I’m not as injury prone as the typical runner. My goal is a sub 4.
Rising HS senior here. I know they don’t publicly post a median gpa/test scores but does anyone have an idea? Is there an “auto admit” level?
what laptops do you guys use/ what are some features you guys value in laptops?? Did a MacBook actually serve you well in undergrad/med school or did you need windows programs? Ideally 14-15 inch

Questions/Comments: It is really difficult to explain my schools context. It is a truly a noncompetitive environment. There is no research, no academic clubs, nothing. And when you mention it or try to start one people look at you like your crazy. Genuinely I have the highest standardized test score in my class by 11 points right now. Im sorry if this makes me sound haughty, but it is tiring to be ostracized for trying in school.
I think if I can contextualize myself enough in my essays I have a fighting chance.
Someone talk me through this. I’m a rising senior in high school. I will have roughly 40-45 dual credit classes after my senior year. Which means I could comfortably get out from my state school (Kansas university) in 3 years. I’m a top student, and I think I have a pretty good shot at wash u pre med, but none of my classes will transferred. Is it simply illogical for me to give up a year of my life just for the sake of going to wash u???? I understand this is a nuanced question but I am really just having trouble deciding.
I’m a hs senior this year and will have an absurd amount of dual credit classes done. Roughly 3 semesters worth. Should I graduate in 3 years and apply for med on my 4th year? Would it torch my ECs? The med school I’d be going to is Kansas med (in state)
Yes, it’s Built in the cavern layer
What up gang, new to the thread.
I wanted to know what people’s thoughts were on ACGs new line? If anyone has it and has tested it what’s it like? I personally think yeh it’s a statement but it’s sick and damn you must keep cool in it. I missed the chance to buy it from Nike and now all the resellers have jacked up the prices which leads me to my next question what do people think of resellers in the running community? Maybe it doesn’t happen much but I noticed it with this ACG drop and the Satisfy x Oakley drop
I’m a senior this year. I know for sure that I want to go into medical. I’m looking for time I can get back in my 20s by any means possible. I have a bunch of gen ed credits done. I could potentially get out of bachelors in 3 years light, 2 years maybe. Is there a benefit to me doing bsmd? I live in Kansas, and there are no BSMD programs. I would however get instate ku premed. So if I do want to go to one, it’d be OOS and I would probably end up paying an assload. What kind of financial aid can I get from a bsmd? Would I even be gaining anything by doing a BSMD? So many questions
