New vision emerges for Toxteth’s historic Welsh Church

  • Emerging plans to regenerate the Welsh Church on Princes Road could secure the future of one of Toxteth’s best-known landmarks.
  • Applicant Audsley Holdings, which owns the Grade-II listed church, has spent approximately 18 months carrying out feasibility, design and consultation work aimed at identifying a viable long-term future for the building and surrounding site.
  • The local landmark has stood vacant and derelict for decades, suffering extensive weather damage and vandalism, with large sections of its roof lost and parts of the structure requiring stabilisation.
  • The emerging proposals from Audsley seek to retain, repair and sensitively adapt the church as part of a predominantly residential development designed to support the long-term regeneration of the site.
  • A range of complementary uses is also being explored, including a gym, visitor centre and café. The visitor centre would pay homage to the history and contribution of Liverpool’s Welsh community, introducing a public-facing element to the development alongside the proposed new homes.

I vibe-coded a scouting tool

So I first used CM Scout to generate a CSV file containing my current Burton Albion squad. I then did a couple of player searches (players with a squad status of not needed, and players under 20) and saved the results to CSV files.

I then asked the AI to compare the ‘Not needed’ file with the file containing my squad, and suggest good signings, focussing on a list of positions. It came up with a decent list, mostly based on potential ability, cost, and contract expiry date. I did the same with the ‘Youth’ list.

I then asked it to create a Python script I can run whenever I want that will compare a squad CSV file with a CSV of the results of a CM Scout search and generate a text file listing the recommended signings for your specific squad, along with a list of players it recommends selling. And it did!

Transfers that didn’t quite make it

Player photographed in shirt, maybe even the website interview is done, but either fails medical, doesn’t get work permit, or something else puts the kybosh on it.

Feels to me that Liverpool have more of these than most, but that might just be because I know about them because I inhale all LFC-related transfer news.

- Loic Remy - medical discovers knee made from weetabix
- Nabil Fekir - had all the website promo done before the medical failed
- Grafite - tore up the bundesliga with Eden Dzeko, signed by Rafa’s Liverpool, didn’t get a work permit
- Piotr Zielinski - widely rumoured to be Klopp’s first signing, photographed in the shirt while doing his own summer training. Just never happened.
