Laptop from 1996.
I had to replace the HDD because the original has so many bad sectors that I can't even install anything.
I got the original HDD working good enough to extract the original Wallpaper, OEM-FILE and drivers (a part inside of the HDD fell off, i just removed it).
The CMOS Battery placement is super annoying, you need to completely disassemble the Laptop to get to it, this includes getting the thermal pads underneath the CPU socket to unstuck, they were so strong that the glue that holds the metal plate gave up before the thermal pads did.
Works fine now except for the main battery and external floppy drive.
I kinda like the design of the main Battery, lol.

This is the only thing remaining of my first ever Laptop.
Well, a part of the motherboard also still exists, but that shouldn't matter at all.
I don't know the Capacity, i don't know the HDD brand and model, i only know it was a 2,5" IDE HDD.
Is there any chance for a data recovery?

Flex cable for the Touchpad was broken, this is what i did.
Old Laptop from 1996.
It already was damaged, so it fell apart at this corner without doing anything to it.
Soldered it back together, works fine.

Ich kann nicht glauben das das gerade passiert ist...
War dabei die CPU in einem seltenen Laptop von 1996 zu tauschen, alles sah ganz gut aus...
Heißluftlötstation (800 Watt) war an dieser Steckdosenleiste angeschlossen.
Heißluftstation geht aus weil die Steckdosenleiste abgeraucht ist, wow, die CPU vom Laptop ist jetzt Schrott...
Steckdosenleiste hab ich im Lidl mal neu gekauft weil die eine gute Anzahl an Steckern hatte...
Die CPU hat 40€ gekostet, bruh...

PC Reinigung.
Es ist Fritteuseöl in diesen PC Gelaufen (also es war alles voll damit), hab den dann mit dem Gartenschlauch gereinigt, und so habe ich einen Weiteren kostenlosen PC gerettet, lol.
CPU ist ein Intel Xeon x3440
PC funktioniert ganz gut, hat sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt.

Backing up a HDD in a old Laptop.
The PSU in the PC got washed with a garden hose and still works btw.
Laptop is from 1987, including the HDD.
Software im using: LapLink Version 5
Motherboard is something from about 2005 with some Intel Pentium, it's running MS-DOS From the USB Flashdrive, including the LapLink software.
Laptop is connected to the PC through a Nullmodem RS-232 Cable.

White powder on old plastic.
Why do some old plastic parts pruduce this white Powder over time, i have 2 old Laptops from the 80s that have this on these connectors and 2 clock radios from the 70s with this stuff on the see-through plastic in front of the display (sadly i dont have a good picture of that).
