Question before I start a forever world

I’ve always been a grinder over a builder, in that the first thing I do in a new world is rush max gear because that’s what I find the most fun, but once I do that I feel like the games done and get burnt out without building anything.

I’ve wanted to make a forever world for the longest time, but I always run into the same dilemma to avoid burning out:

If I rush max gear at the start, gathering resources for building & traversal is much faster, but then it feels like all I can do is build. On the other hand, if I play slow and stick with iron gear for a bit I can focus more on building, but gathering resources with those tools is so slow that I get bored before I build anything.

What’s the best balance between progression and building to avoid burning out?

Advice on where to buy singles for full decks

New to the game and I’ve got the deck build box and opened a good amount of gd05, but some decks I’ve been interested in building use a lot of gd03 & gd04 decks, to the point where I’m missing like 20+ cards in these decks.

For the decks where I’m missing a few cards it’s not a problem to just ask ppl in the local community where I play, but it’s been difficult to look for so many cards with our limited community size.

I wanted to default to tcg player for buying whatever else I’m missing but living in Canada, the shipping prices are insane, like I’m paying $10-15 shipping per card regardless of whether the card is worth a few cents or $10.

Are there any other sources I’m missing?

How do you quickly become disciplined again after a long period of not being productive?

Whether it’s in between school semesters, taking a vacation and returning back to work, how do you quickly shift into that disciplined productive mode again?

I’ve been pretty lazy this semester in college and finals are in about 2 weeks and I haven’t really locked in on studying in like a month. I feel like all my discipline and ability to be productive is gone. As much as I’d love to ease into being productive and slowly raise my workload, I don’t really have the time for that so I’d appreciate advice for those who are able to get back to being disciplined and productive after taking weeks or months off.

Just started, need some deck advice (pls read description)

Just started and got the deck builder box & a gd05 box before I learned it was most optimal to get 2 deck builder boxes. The 1st pic is the deck I tried to replicate from a video that used the deck box, and the 2nd pic is my replica. You’ll notice that I put a few single cards right beside some incomplete sets due to not having enough of a card. I also added full sets of gundam rose & rose screamer + 2 gundam fight bases since I was missing 2/4 close combats and a bunch of singles here and there. I’d appreciate any advice on the substitutions I made, any suggestions with the cards from gd05, or if there are any sets I should replace entirely. This is the first deck I’ve ever built so I’m not sure which cards are worth scavenging the remaining singles for and which I should just replace.

What do I do in this situation?

I’m going into 2A math in fall but still haven’t completed cs115/cs135. I was planning to take it in the fall 26 term but all the spots in person are either taken or reserved for 1st years, and it’s not being offered online. Is my only option to wait for winter 2027, or is there something I can do to get it next semester?

Advice for those who drive a Tesla & a car w/out regenerative braking

Just got a model 3 and as handy as the regenerative braking feature sounds, I’m scared of building the habit as someone who’ll continue to drive a gas vehicle w/out regen braking alongside the Tesla. To those that drive both regularly, has this ever been a problem, because I’m a little worried about getting used to one pedal driving, then forgetting to manually brake when I’m not in the Tesla.

How do you beat Yasuo?

You pretty much can’t walk up at all if there’s ally minions alive or he just dashes thru them when he sees you start a q animation, and if you do walk up for 1 q, he just all ins and wins. How do you win the matchup?

Do you guys press Q with your pinky?

I’ve always been a wasd gamer so I’ve always done ring finger for q, middle finger for W, and index for E and R. Curious to know if people use their pinky for q so each finger has one button. Seems like the logical thing to do but it feels so awkward for me lol.

Yone matchup advice

I struggle so much with the Yasuo vs yone matchup and idk what to do to win. I know I’m supposed to be stronger early but it often doesn’t feel that way, especially when yone gets lvl 3. Yasuos dmg takes so much setup and movement while yone can just run me down with e and q3 and stack lethal tempo before me, then the fights over.

I’ve seen others beat him on videos, but I can’t seem to replicate it because I don’t have a game plan when it comes to yone. I’d appreciate any tips on how you guys approach the matchup

Yasuo rune optimization questions

I Mained yas like 4 years ago but been playing jg till now and finally coming back to midlane, so had a few questions about yasuo’s runes.

  1. How often/ in what scenarios would you take fleet, conq, grasp, or anything other than LT?

  2. When I run resolve 2nd, I almost always run shield bash + bone plating or 2nd wind. Is it ever worth running overgrowth on yas? Since I see it ran a lot on yone but I get that yas isn’t as much of a late game scale champ like yone, so I understand why shield bash is preferred for the early dmg.

Demotion shield Lp after derank

So I was gold 2 and had a pretty big loss streak recently that took me down to silver 1 and for the last day or 2 I’ve been in and out of s1 and g4. The problem is that with the demotion shield activating every time I go from s1 to g4, I’ll be at like g4 6 lp, lose 6 lp from a loss, then go back down to silver 1 25 lp if i lose the game after. Idk if the system was designed like this, but it feels really frustrating to climb when my demo shield essentially only tanks 6 lp (when normally it lasts like 3 or 4 games at 0lp), and then I lose 75 Lp for one loss following.

I read somewhere on Reddit that the lp you drop to after demo shield expires is based on how low your mmr is, but I honestly don’t know where the game thinks I should be since In this s1-g4 range I’m gaining 13-15 lp and losing 22, suggesting my mmr is within this range, but when I was in g2 playing against Low plat players I was gaining 20 and losing 16-18, as if the game wanted me to slowly climb past that elo.

Is there any way to up my mmr so I don’t lose massive chunks of lp for a derank loss? Or do I just need to go on a long enough winstreak to get past the s1-g4 range all together?

How do I engage when enemies walk up w/minions?

Started playing Pyke recently and he’s the first supp I’ve played. I don’t really have this issue in lane since I always push for prio and bush control, but in some team fights, especially in mid, I find it hard to engage when the enemies push up w/ the wave. I can’t land a q, so just E’ing in raw feels like suicide. Is there a better way to engage these fights?

The problem might be that I take fights front to back, sitting in the clump of my teammates fishing for a q on the enemy frontline rather than flanking to distract their backline, but even then it’s just kinda impossible to land a q if they’re sitting in the wave. Idk maybe I’m just approaching fights wrong so any advice would be appreciated!

Struggling with late game split pushing/making use of baron buff

I’m a gold 1 jg main trying to make the final push to plat and the only part of the game where I still feel lost is endgame. After getting baron, I can’t seem to figure out what to do to make the most of the buff. A lot of the time my team will run it mid till we get an inhib, but after that we end up in a stalemate till we have to back off, rinse and repeat. I know it’s not good to try to end with just 1 inhib, so I try split pushing but can’t seem to do it effectively. My biggest problems with split pushing are:

-The waves on the sidelines are usually way behind mid, so if a fight breaks out mid, I can’t get there in time.

-in my elo players like to ARAM and perma fight, so even if I want to split push, the rest of my team continues the stalemate in front of the enemy inhib. I know I shouldn’t feel responsible if they die in those scenarios from overstaying, but it’s kinda hard not to when those deaths can potentially lose us the game.

- when I do get a sideline pushed up a good amount, I get scared of pushing forward, hesitant to push 1 more wave in or not. My biggest fears are just past 1st tower on top or bot due to the chance of getting flanked from river, and in front of the tier 2 towers (also top & bot) with the chance of getting killed by enemies coming in from their base, or from their side of jg. Because of these risks, I find myself only pushing 1 or 2 waves till they get to those “dangerous spots” and just wandering around wasting baron buff to find another wave that’s safe to farm.

These issues obviously apply without baron buff, I’m just struggling to close out games in general

Rushing serpents fang over hubris on blue kayn?

So I play a lot of aatrox jg and kayn and recently saw that naayil (top aatrox player) rushes serpents fang instead of hubris on aatrox jg when there’s enough value from the item. Is this worth doing on blue kayn (or any jg that builds hubris) too if the enemy team comp permits it? I see the reasoning for rushing serpents, but is it really worth losing out on so much potential ad by not building hubris?

Should I always go rhaast against a tank jg?

Went blue this game and struggled a lot with contesting objectives, counter ganking, or just any even fight with amumu there (other than a 5v5 fight)

My thought process was to go blue since the enemy was mostly squishies, and that in a late game fight we’d be fine since we had irelia frontline, but that clearly didn’t work. Should I always go rhaast into tanky junglers regardless of the rest of the enemy team comp?

Why is q maxed last? (AD xin)

Both u.gg and op.gg recommend w -> e -> q max even on ad xin. I get that the w still has ad scaling and E gives good attack speed, but is the q dmg that irrelevant early that it’s just used as auto reset & knock up?

The w poke dmg is nice when I gank, but once I E in, I feel like I’m doing no dmg so in an even fight with enemy jg it feels like I’m on the losing side

How do you kill a passive mundo in lane?

Im gold 3 playing aatrox and it just feels shitty to play against a passive mundo who just last hits with q. With aatrox I have no trouble knocking mundo’s shield off, landing w, then hitting q2 as a trade combo over and over again, but I can never seem to kill him with how passive he plays. The wave never seems freezable either since he’s always just last hitting, so it either stays in the middle or it pushes towards him when my q’s hit minions when I go to poke.

I know that if mundo farms even he wins late game, but I can’t find a reliable way to kill him or deny cs to get an advantage.

Do you always build hubris 1st on jg?

I’ve been building hubris into sundered into DD on most games of jg aatrox, but recently I’ve been feeling a little too squishy in my games. I checked naayil’s match history, and he’s been running sundered into mortal reminder most games, rushing serpent’s when needed. So, in a game where serpent’s isn’t needed, would you recommend hubris or sundered 1st? I get that hubris is more of a snowballing item, so what do you look for in terms of snowball potential when you decide to buy hubris?

Stuck in a loop of procrastination, how do I get out?

I have a linear algebra to study for, and I have a lot of content to learn in this week to prep for my midterm. However, the content is hard, and it feels like whenever I sit down to study I hit a wall fast. Then, for the rest of the day I can’t even bring myself to study because my brain foresees the next session being just as hard assuming I’ll get stuck again, so I do something to not think about it, like go on my phone. Then I end up being on my phone for hours trying to “destress” when in reality I’ve just increased my workload for the following day which just builds up the stress, any advice on getting out of this loop?

Builds when your team is squishy/ enemy is tanky?

Saw a post on here yesterday about a bruiser graves build along the lines of unreal -> black cleaver -> sundered -> tank items with fleet rune setup. A lot of ppl said bruiser graves is just worse than crit graves or not worth running, even though it feels like graves has some frontline potential. Recently I’ve been playing a few games where my team has no frontline or maybe only 1 while the enemy has 2 tanks. In games like these, is it worth running a bruiser build to frontline and let my other squishies carry the dmg, or should I stick to Dark harvest crit and try to solo carry these games?
