Best nature spots for a proposal?

Hi everyone, let me start by apologizing if this seems all over the place, I am panicking this morning. I’m planning to propose to my girlfriend on the weekend of September 20th, either the 19th or 20th works I really dont care, those two days are at the start of our vacation. I woke up this morning to my photographer having to cancel on me due to urgent family matters. I completely understood, they’re a close family friend, it happens! But now I feel screwed, because they were going to go up a week prior to check out some places I was interested in and make sure there was insane foot traffic or the spots were actually good for photos. Now that’s not happening, so I need some recommendations for some pretty nature spots for us to visit. (preferably cheap or free entry, now that I’ll have have to include my new photographers entry fee into anywhere I go, and preferably not a spot that requires a tough hiking trail because of my disability in my knees)

All help is appreciated seeing as I’m practically a month out now with no photographer!

How do you typically alter precons?

I bought a green/white Emmara precon, and after a few games realized I hated how it played. Well I ordered a Secret Lair card for [[Adrix & Nev, Twincasters]] and decided it’d be a much better pick, so I went through and took out all the white and green/white cards I could find. What’s the best way to alter it? Right now just for test play, I swapped in almost equal parts creatures, instants, etc. but I was wondering, what’s the best way to alter the deck? I havent touched the green cards yet, but I think It’s gonna end up being a total custom brew when I’m done with it considering how much is changing.

There are other precons I’ve been eyeing, so I was wondering what the best way to go about altering would be? Also is it even still altering at this point if my deck is almost entirely different?

My girlfriend and I ripped our first packs together!

Me and my girlfriend have eyed the Outlaws of Thunder Junction set because we love the Wild West theme. Ive opened foundations boosters but never a regular one, so we decided to buy two and open them. I have no idea if these are anything special but they look sick! Definitely gonna add some nice flare to our decks.

First time cooking steak - where do I learn?

Howdy all, posting this under the cover of night so my girlfriend doesn’t catch on to everything I’m doing.

I’m planning to surprise her with steak fettuccine alfredo for our anniversary dinner (and unofficial proposal celebration, cus thats part of the occasion she just doesn’t know yet). Downside: I’ve never cooked a steak before. Not on a grill, not in a pan, not in an oven, never. I’m not an expert by any means on this stuff, some would say heresy if I called myself something as simple as an “enjoyer”. I get the cheap steak specials at the local mom and pop steakhouse or whatever the popular and affordable 6-8oz steak is at the big chains, and I aspire to someday try high end wagyu cus I’ve heard its the top of the line as a “try once” kinda thing. I really dont want to mess this up.

Allow me to unload to you all the questions and I ask of you all for answers! What cut/kind of steak do I buy? Grill or pan cooked? HOW do I cook it (i.e. how long for desired doneness, put it down on high heat or put it down cold, marinate or season and go)? Binder or no binder? Most importantly, am i overthinking all of this and should just go watch a youtube video about it cus its literally that simple?

I want to make this perfect, so if I need to go buy a cheap steak or two first to practice on then so be it. Thank all of you in advance for any advice you have! Yes I know I could google all of this but I want human opinions and advice, not opinionated articles and videos.

Crash course/broad resources on the mythos?

I’m going to be completely honest when I tell you all I have no idea what to flair this as, please bear with me as I find myself in a very unique situation with having to learn about Norse Mythology and don’t even know if this is the place to begin.

I’m currently prepping for my first Dungeons & Dragons campaign with one of my best friends as the story writer and DM. My character is a priest that is completely devout to Odin and based roughly around Muninn, one of his loyal ravens. Ill spare you the backstory and possible heresy, but essentially my whole purpose is “to live by the word and will of The Allfather” to quote my friend.

Here’s the problem, I have very little knowledge other than vague connections of inspired characters in pop culture. Accompany that with how one of my spells is essentially to just convert any non-believers to followers of Odin (Paganism?), I have absolutely no idea how to incorporate this, as I know nothing about Norse mythology. If any more details are needed i’d be happy to share but I would like to ask what the best resources are for me to be able to learn more about the mythos in order to really get into my role.

Thank you in advance!

How to deal with Palmetto bugs/smoky browns?

I live in northwest Georgia, USA. Every time I see a palmetto/water bug I am filled with absolute fear and rage, more-so rage than fear. What measures can I take to prevent them from getting in? I’ve read a few other older posts, but I wanted to ask here again for more modern solutions as all the popular posts are about it 3-8 years old.

I take out the trash and sweep under the can regularly, as well as regular sweeping around the house and wiping counters. I have a small dog, but thats the only animal in the house I have to worry about getting into something. We just cleared large amounts of brush/dead branches from the yard plus cleared the gutters today, so I know that’ll help. But I mainly just want them out of the bedrooms and bathroom, because I hate seeing one across the room at night and having to just stare at it until its in a spot I’m able to kill it.

Unfortunately, I know I am more than likely not going to be rid of them forever. But if I had the Dragon Balls, my three wishes (thats how they work, right?) would be to make palmetto bugs go extinct, rid everyone of their memory, and make home pest control against everything else affordable.

Thank you all in advance for the advice. And respectfully, I hope to never see posts from this sub recommended, because some of the pics y’all post are way too high quality.

Best places to find different flavors?

My local Speedway 7/11 doesnt often get in special flavore, they had Cherry Lime Rickey (my favorite) for like a month back in 2023, and I can hardly find it anywhere. I also wanna try all the apple flavors (Apple Lime Rickey, Sweet Apple, Red Apple Green Tea) but I haven’t seen them anywhere within a 40 minute drive of me. Where do yall recommend I look? (Southeast US)

Are all locations getting rid of the Freestylr machines?

My local Zaxby’s has done away with their Coca-Cola Freestyle machines, and I personally loved it cus it was a location I used to work at and that thing was SPOTLESS so I never had a problem with odd colors or flavors. Finally went back cus I was wanting to try a new menu item and its gone from the drive-thru and the lobby. Is this just a thing at my store or do I have to say goodbye to Zaxby’s?

ID on this docking station?

I got this what I assume to be dock station at goodwill for about two bucks, but the information sticker on the bottom has been peeled off. Any ID? I see a few similar products online but not 100% on what it is. What does it need yo power? Viable for modern hardware (laptops, PC) or did I blow two bucks on a piece of metal and plastic?

Sometimes I wish she could talk

I love my Lucy, we’ve had her almost three weeks now and she’s lovely. She’s happy, healthy, playful, loyal, and even a bit protective! (As much as an itty bitty Yorkie can be)

She’ll run up to us and bounce off our legs and yap, but we cant figure out what it means every time. Bathroom? We take her outside, but she just sniffs the flowers and comes back. Food or water? We leave it out and filled regularly. Toys? We rile her up and get her playing. Lap time? Any time she wants! But I wish she could talk sometimes, cus what if it’s none of those things?! What if she’s just coming up to us and doesn’t want anything, just “talking” to us like how we do when we walk across the house to find someone. I just want to make sure she’s happy and feels loved, especially now being away from her previous owner.

Xtra/unrelated: We adopted her from my aunt who could not give her the attention she needed anymore since she wants to travel, and we’ve spoiled her! Baths with fancy shampoo, fancy new food, toys, treats, car seats, you name it. She’s potty trained, however she doesn’t potty very often. Maybe I’m just used to how my previous dog was, he was a chihuahua and was senior age after we moved to this house. I would have to pick up dirty floor pads every day, sometimes multiple times plus let him out a couple times a day. Lucy doesn’t seem to use the bathroom that much, and when she does it doesn’t seem like constipation or blockage. I’ll get her first vet appointment soon just to be safe, but that’s beside the point.

Day 3 of remodel (unfinished + before/after)

A crack in the tub turned into hell. The toilet constantly ran, the tub faucet dripped, and the crack in the tub and constant failing repairs finally toppled our patience when we noticed the floor going soft.

I’m 100% confident the only thing that kept us from falling through was the fact the previous tub was bolted to the wall. No supports under it or anything other than whatever is in the pictures. The joists were rotting, the floor was rotted, the stringer beam across the back is still sagging so I added a new support under it. I’m so, so tired, and thank god for my uncle who came down and worked morning to night to help. He got there before I got home from a trip and got right to work pulling out old floor and setting new wood.

It’s grueling, it’s disgusting, and it’s so, so refreshing to not worry if im gonna fall beneath my house when I take a leak or brush my teeth.

Unfortunately its gotta be done in parts, but I know its not to be done in a day. Gotta finish replacing piping and angle stops (with help from my BiL, professional plumber) later tonight and then have to wait for my uncle to come back down later this month to put up the last wall so he can drill the holes. Not only do I not have a hole saw, but I’m so mortified of fucking it up I don’t even wanna try.

Wish me luck, we’re getting there.

Why does she eat like this?

A minute prior to the video, she had a piece she either was just playing with or couldn’t keep in her mouth. She’d pick it up, fling it a few inches, then do it again two more times before eating.

We’ve had Lucy for two weeks now, and it took her a few days to start eating regularly since she’s two years old and bonded with my aunt who we adopted her from. Is this some weird food insecurity or is she just a little weirdo?

What’s up with the paddock in Atlanta this year?

Back again for my 3rd trip to FD Round 2, and the paddock seems to have been split? Also it says the paddock doesn’t open until Saturday but other than being mid-setup today it seems they’re allowing people in and out, so I’m not sure if its just an error with the schedule format or what. Any info before me and my group walk all the way down there?

Ive been at this for 4 hours. Disabled firewall, restarted both laptops. Both WERE connected to the internet, but every time the migration code pops up the mac disconnects from the internet. I have no clue where to go from here, and it’s almost as infuriating as the old laptop is.
