Thoughts on Netflix?

Whole lot of analysts saying it's a defo buy but stop has not been able to recover despite the divorce from Warner bros.

I own Netflix and want to add some but I'm hesitant and think I should diversify by adding Comcast and T mobile

Is having 2 masters (AI+ Econ) a disadvantage for financial careers

Hi,

I contemplating whether I should pursue PhD or a second masters in economics with a focus on trade risk and econometrics.

I will graduate with an Msc in AI soon.

I worked as a data analyst at e-commerce company for 2 years.

I'm proficient in analysis with python and SQL

I'm also developing software with c++ and rust.

My goal is to work in financial institutions.

I'm more inclined towards doing an Msc in economics but after reading on HR nonsense over age, experience and over-qualification I'm now thinking maybe pursuing a PhD is a better option however in Germany where I currently live, I've heard nightmare stories about how stressful doing a PhD is.

If having 2 masters in different fields is not a disadvantage for econ and financial careers I wouldn't pursue a PhD and would just do the second masters part time

The econ masters will be done in a non target university in Frankfurt

What you guys think ?

Is it safe to deposit 30k at once?

I read people trigger security with their transactions and their accounts get frozen if they deposit/trade large amounts.

Whats considered large in trade republic?

In ibkr anything below 200k is not a large amount

Whats your experience directly depositing over 10k on trade republic ?

Sign-in with Google not working on some apps 17T Series

When I try to sign in using my Google account, it doesn't work on some apps. The pop-up to select your Google account email doesn't appear at all.

I have 17t pro bought in Europe and currently using it in Europe

Anyone knows a fix for this?

I tried stopping apps, clearing data and cache for the apps themselves and Google play store but it still doesn't work.

As you see in the example of rock when I try to sign in my Google account the pop-up to select your email doesn't appear at all and the loading Circle keeps going on forever

How useful is the AI on pixel 10 phones?

I just want to know if the built-in AI on pixel phones is any better that it justifies the price despite the lack in hardware.

Buying phones locally vs Aliexpress

I'm thinking of buying the xiaomi 17 pro and it's over 150 bucks cheaper on aliexpress.

I already bought a phone from aliexpress but it wasn't a well known brand and although the phone still works there's a slight defect in it that aliexpress and the seller refused to refund or even offer repair.

Which leaves me hesitant.

Those of you who bought phones from well known Chinese brands on aliexpress what was your experience after a year? Did you experience any issues? If yes how helpful was aliexpress support?

Also I'm in Germany, if the phone ever stops working or there's a defect how easy is it to find local repairs from brands like xiaomi, oppo, vivo?

Edit: Decided to buy locally. Warranty 1 year is not enough

To those ranting about devs not having C1 German

The same tech job that requires an immigrant to reach C1 in the local language in Germany is performed by a German immigrant in the UAE without them needing C1 in Arabic. So stop ranting to us about your perceived importance of C1 German for tech jobs. For tech jobs, the level of proficiency in a local language other than English is, in a lot of cases, irrelevant and used as a filtering tool during economic downturns.

If German immigrants working in tech are not expected to reach C1 in the local language to work in the UAE, then it is hilariously hypocritical to act surprised when you see a foreigner expecting to work in English in tech in Germany.

Yes, you do need German for long-term integration but you can still find roles in tech in English. Also, most German immigrants in the UAE or elsewhere do not make any effort to learn the language for "integration" so remember that when you're surprised to see someone in his 3rd year in Germany with only B1-B2 in German. That is absolutely normal and not an attack on German culture. Only nationalists believe speaking English means you do not respect Germany.

Note: The people I'm referring to are not those that encourage job seekers to improve their German to increase their chances. The people I'm referring to are those that come here to punch down on job seekers, those that act like other users are lazy for not achieving C1 in German after few years, those that took 5 to 9 years of schooling to be proficient in an easy language like English with their parents taking care of them while studying yet expect foreigners to have C1 German in less than 2 years disingenuously ignoring their life commitments that prevent foreigners from committing to learning German full time.

Edit: Those seething in the comments. I already learned German in High school and never needed German in order to work in Germany or elsewhere. No, seriously it is not as important in tech as you are trying to convince us.
