DAE feel ugly when wearing makeup?

I wouldn't say i look attractive without it, but i look worse with lol. whether its me doing my own makeup, somebody else, it just doesn't look right on me.

i like wearing makeup cuz i like colors. for example, if i'm wearing a green dress, i'd like to wear green eyeshadow to match. and although i like matching it, i don't feel pretty with it.

DAE feel like that? ik that makeup has been pushed on us as this "beauty thing" but i just feel better without it.

Have you had friends refuse to accomodate for your illness? Friends who just don't care?

I'm asthmatic. The amount of times I'll hangout with people and they'll smoke right infront of me is honestly disheartening because they know how easily my asthma is triggered. as well as a few other times regarding my other conditions.

i never had a friend with a chronic illness (atleast to my knowledge) but i recall having a friend with a severe allergy to chocolate, vanilla, and strawberries. this in turn meant she couldn't eat any dessert because of the risk of vanilla being added. out of respect for her, i never ate any desert/chocolate/strawberries/whatever infront of her because A) i didn't want to trigger an allergic reaction b) she couldn't eat them, and so I thought it would be rude to eat them infront of her.

I feel like its pretty easy to refrain from a certain activity when your in the company of someone who has a medical problem. but i guess some people can find it quite hard. has anybody experienced something similair.

If somebody has a Jewish father, but not a Jewish mother, why are they not considered Jewish?

I mean no offense by my question! I'm genuinely curious.

I feel like the identity of either of your parents can be very influencial to you when you grow up. I don't understand why somebody would not be considered Jewish simply because their father is Jewish and their mother is not. I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but if somebody was born in a circumstance like that, and they wanted to be Jewish, would they have to convert? Are they allowed to identify as Jewish, or would people invalidate that? What are the different sects of Judaism's opinions on that? What do you think?

Genuinely curious and I hope I haven't offended anybody! I'd just like clarification about it.

Have you ever had baby fever?

Have you ever had baby fever? At what point in your life did you realize that you wanted to have children of your own? Was there an event that triggered it or did it just come naturally?

Alternatively, if you're child-free by choice, when did you realize that you had no desire to have children?

Living with people invites WAYYYY to much social interaction

No I don't want to talk after I got back home from work. No I don't wanna talk when I get back home from uni. No I don't want to talk while I'm cooking. No I don't want to talk 14 hours a day. Yes I do like to spend time on my own and like being quiet. No that doesn't mean that I hate you, it just means that my way of unwinding is different to yours.

Obviously there are other cons when it comes to living with people, like if they're messy (which is obviouslly annoying). BUt I just don't get how some people just talk ALLL THE TIMMEEE. And when you express that you dont want to socialize, they take it personally.

I also just hate when the people you live with are loudd. No, I don't want to hear you screaming on the phone while I'm studying for an exam. No I don't want to hear your music while I'm trying to sleep. No I don't want to hear your youtube video while I'm trying to wind down from the day I had.

Living with people invites way to much social interaction and invites way too much noise. Silent headphones can only do so much.

Is it an unrealistic expectation not want my partner to watch porn?

Let me start off my saying, I (F) don't think that watching porn is cheating. HOWEVER its something that would make me very uncomfortable if my partner watched it. Its just not something I can wrap my head around or accept.

Watching porn is really normalized, especially for guys. I'm not judging you if you watch it, nor judging you if you think thats cheating. We all have our limits and what we consider to be acceptable or not in a relationship. My intention isn't to debate the morality of watching porn while your in a relationship, but simply discussing about wanting a partner that does not watch it and whether thats unrealistic or not.

I would consider myself to have relatively normal standards for a future boyfriend. 1) He's kind 2) Treats me well 3) is a overall good person (of course everybody has their flaws).

The type of behaviour I would not accept from a partner is: 1) Cheating 2) Abuse 3) Does Drugs 4) Watches porn. OBVIOUSLY watching porn is not the same as the other stuff, but I feel like thats not a long list of things not to want in a partner? I've been told that me not wanting a guy that watches porn is me having an "unrealistic standard" and being picky. BUt am I not entitled to have boundaries? It's not like i have a suuuuuupeerrr long list of requirements and things I wouldn't accept in a boyfriend. I myself don't watch porn, so how is it weird that I wouldn't want to be with a guy that does?

Did anybody have a very intense health/fitness phase as a means to compensate for being chronically ill?

Sorry if my wording is odd!

For context i have SEVERE HSD (only got diagnosed this year) that has caused me to develop scoliosis, femoral anterversion, tibial torsion, and pigeon toed all throughout my childhood. My walking was so severely impacted I had to have surgical intervention that did not work. I deal with very bad chronic pain that causes me to occasionally limp. I'm also asthmatic.

When I realized my body wasn't what it used to be as a result of my medical problems and surgery/medication didn't work (for context, my chronic pain and ability to walk has gotten worse over time), I felt the need to overcompensate.

Obviously, couldn't control a medical condition I was born with, so I became obsessive with making sure I was the healthiest I could be. I quit refined sugar and fried food. Only allowed myself to eat red meat once a month. Would workout everyday , during the summer I would workout 2 hours every single day. I only took breaks if my pain was horrific or if I was on my period.

Obviously, I took it WAYY to far. Healthy people shouldn't even have worked out as much as I did, and pushing myself to that limit only made my chronic pain worse. I was also way to extreme on the healthy eating. I recognize that now that I'm older. BUt when I was younger, I guess it was just a panic respnse. My chronic pain got worse every year, and though I knew that the life style I was pursuing was not going to help me in the slightest, I still went for it anyway.

Did anybody else go through a phase like that?

Has anybody else gotten body shamed after losing weight?

TW: Weight loss and Mention of an ED

I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit so I sincerely apologize if its not!

Earlier on this year I gained a lot of weight. I went up to 71 kg, since the start of the summer I've been losing weight and now I'm 62.5 kg. Still not where I was prior (57 kg), but I'm getting there.

When I was at my biggest, nobody body shamed me. Once I hit the 64 kg mark was when people began body shaming how I used to look like. Saying things like "well thank goodness you're losing the weight, you looked real ugly before hand" "I see you're losing weight! The extra weight made you look real bad"

Tbh, I didn't like the way I looked with the extra weight. The reason why I gained all that weight was because I developed a binge eating disorder that was really destructive. I'm recovering now, but hearing all those commenst just messes with me. I've tried explaining to people that its not ok to talk to others like that. That just because I've lost the majority of teh weight does not give you free reign to talk about my previous body like that. But alot of people just don't care.

This might also sound odd, but currently I'm being fatshamed for my backside! I've always had a prominent one (I'm half north african), but obviously the weight gain made it bigger. As I'm losing the weight, I've been training my glutes. So my backside has only decreased a bit in size in respect to the beggining of the summer, and is definitely larger than how it used to be prior to weight gain.

I've had several people tell me that my *ss is way too big and is unflattering for my body! On NUMEROUS occasions. Its just so odd.

Has anybody else experienced this?

What do you guys think of dominant women?

Let me clarify that when I refer to dominant I'm not talking about a woman that's a dominatrix, a complete control freak, a woman who has the "its my way or the highway" mentality. I'm simply talking about women who tend to take the "leadership" role in a relationship, and in the bedroom lean dominant (without being a dominatrix or into bdsm).

Growing up I remember always hearing expectations of what a husband and wife dynamic should be. If people want a more traditional relationship, then good for them. But me personally as a woman, I've never been interested in a relationship with traditional gender roles. The whole "submissive, obediant, stay at home wife" kinda thing just never did it for me.

EDIT: I guess I should clarify what I meant with my post because I kinda worded it slopily. If we want to take into consideratioin people who believe in very strict gender roles, versus people who believe in the exact opposite of that, both are unhealthy. A man being completely in control or a woman being completely in control and abusing said power in a relationship is obviously horrible.

The reason why I posed the question is because I come from quite a conservative culture. I've always heard of guys wanting "submisive wives". I've occasionaly (quite rarely) heard of some guys that would like 50/50. So I was wondering if there were any guys on this sub reddit that prefered when the traditional gender role was flipped, and if so, why?

Also for further clarification, I would not consider myself as a "dominant" woman. If we want to look at the spectrum of traditional women, versus women that are the complete opposite of that, I'd say I'm in the middle leaning toward not conforming to gender roles. I myself would not want to be the one taking charge in a relationship, nor would I want my partner to be the one that takes charge. I personally don't find either dynamic appealing. I've heard of guys saying why its appealing for them to be the ones in charge, never heard any guys saying why it would be appealing for them not to be the ones in charge. So I guess I was curious.

When speaking about a woman taking a "leadership role" I was referring to a woman that possessed traits such as, being the breadwinner/provider, being the one that takes initiative (for example, her being the one to ask you out), takes the lead in the bedroom, etc. I am NOT refering to toxic behaviours associated with the abuse of authority.

Sorry for any misunderstanding!

Was anybody else hit on when they were considered what society doesn't deem to be attractive?

TW: Mentions of weight

I'm unsure if this is the right subreddit! So please forgive me if its not.

Ik that societally, slimmer women are deemed to be the attractive physique. I used to weigh 57 kg, jumped to 71 and now I'm down to 63. I've noticed that I got approached a lot more when I was bigger than when I was slimmer.

Ik that thinsg are different now, but when I was growing up curly hair was deemed "ugly" and "unhygenic". It made me feel insecure so I used to straighten my hair. When I stopped and embraced my natural hair texture, I got approached more often.

When I struggled with acne versus when my skin cleared up, I got approached more by guys before my accutane journey.

I wanna clarify that I never changed my appearance for the approval of anybody. I wanted to lose weight because I have joint problems, wanted to clear my skin because my very unstable period caused me to have acne which made me feel insecure, and I stopped straightening my hair cuz I had enough of heat damage.

I noticed that when I didn't fit societal beauty standards at all I was approached more often by guys. Meanwhile, when I moreso fit into the beauty standard, I got approached less by guys, and complimented a lot more by women. Has anybody else experienced this as well?

Did anybody else attend schools that were not accomodating at all?

For context, I (19F) have severe HSD (I only got diagnosed this year). However, throughout my childhood, I was diagnosed with scoliosis, femoral anteversion, pigeon toed, tibial torsion, etc. It was so bad to the point I needed surgical intervention, unfortunately, the surgery failed, and my condition continued to get worse.

I had my surgery at 11, the surgery involved inserting screws in my feet. A risk of the surgery was that I could develop a blood clot in my feet, that would travel up to my lungs and kill me. To prevent this, I had to move around using crutches as opposed to being on bed rest or using a wheelchair. Because walking (with the assistance of crutches as I was physically unable to walk without them) reduced the risk of a clot forming in my feet.

When it was finally time to return to school, my school informed me that I wasn't allowed to use crutches. When we asked why, they said that "crutches are a hazard", and that I was expected to use a wheelchair. When my doctor had attempted to inform them that it was imperative that I use crutches, that considering the surgery I just had, sitting down for 8 hours straight every school day for months on end without being able to walk around would increase the risk of me developing a blood clot, they genuinely did not care. My doctor had even contacted the principal, she still did not care. "Rules are rules"

Idk why they had that rule. Why on earth would crutches be considered a hazard? Do you wanna know whats more hazardous than crutches? A child dying of a blood clot because of a ridiculous school policy.

It was either A) Go to school without crutches or a wheelchair (which was impossible because as mentioned prior, I could not physically walk without them) B) Give in and use a wheelchair every school day. The second option ended up winning.

Does anybody have stories of schools not being accomodating at all irregardless of how many times your doctors, parents, or yourself tried informing them otherwise?
