Reacher Season 4: Is Jacob Merrick Hiding Something?
The fourth season of Reacher has just started, and Amazon seems to have decided to crank everything up to eleven. After only three episodes, we already have a mysterious suicide, a missing memory, government secrets, the CIA, political intrigue, assassinations, and a conspiracy that seems to get bigger every time Reacher pulls on another thread.
And then there’s Jacob Merrick, Anna’s brother.
On paper, he’s just a devastated police officer trying to find out what really happened to his sister and helping Reacher along the way. But I don’t know… something about him doesn’t sit right with me.
Maybe I’m falling exactly into the trap the writers want us to fall into, but what if Jacob Merrick isn’t actually what he seems? What if he knows more about Anna, the memory, and everything that’s happening than he’s letting on? After three episodes where almost nobody seems completely trustworthy, it feels a little too convenient that Anna’s brother is simply there to help Reacher uncover the truth.
Maybe I’m completely wrong and Jacob is exactly who he says he is. But for now, I’m keeping an eye on him.
Three episodes in and I’m already completely hooked. If the season keeps this level of intensity, we might be looking at one of the best seasons of Reacher yet.
