Anyone feel a bit spoiled by the MV and VV production?

November has Come was my introduction to the man. I assumed that MmFood was the first project to tackle. Years later, and having listened to Madvillainy and Vaudeville Villain many a time, I'm kinda glad I chose MmFood first. While the production on it is great, I don't think it holds a candle to the wonky Madvillainy or afrofuturistic Vaudeville Villain. They are on another level of experimental that I find makes them stand out in the industry far more than MmFood. TMTYL has a bit more character, but production-wise, I don't think anything compares to those 2 albums.

NOTE: Lyricism is a different beast. I find the lyricism fantastic and fun on all his work, but the difference in attitude of the production throughout his career is far more spread out and varied in my opinion.

What do you think? What order did you approach the albums in, and how do you think that shaped your opinions of them?

[Lyrics] I go weeks/months with writer's block then scratch this up in an hour...

`For them, i only don joker once i go poker, they smile, i chuckle

Then they buckle, Cant relate, see calm fate then broche her

Paying subtle hate rebates as a "then n when"-type broker

Thinking he been worthy to create then reality's hype choked her

With confidentiality and suter of black tape, he stay armed

closest to causing new harm is a vibe of karma, provoker

If one is to approach her, beware of the beyond blonde toker

They stay med-led by sed, this moper's a pharma super soaker

How close is bros toes to overdose, hard to measure in confidence

in that, pleasure he grant from grosing snot toppings, condiments

In fact, I'll take double buffalo, leave the ranch, no, tripple it

Nah what i meant was "this is spam" dribble, wrong digits with it

Man, To them it's all a scam till the nill quick kill, know the vigile lit

The call's been sent, soon the men will stack, house tricklin it

It's them, quick duck rebut, quack n douse em in crack in a minute

Fucko been waiting for den to get tracked, in the pen, he just slack

At that point he's as good as gone, waiting in bed just to respawn

One second, he should be calm, waking in hood, the new dawn

Is it reincarnation? What in tarnation, he stacked spacey relations

Done be astral, so ghastful, phantom of the chakra, creation

about saint peter: when you meet her, dont forget who's teacher

comes to humans, dont be assuming what predates creature

Hark, who's to say what's written in scripture, the truth'll miss her

Till the preacher gets spark to the rods, quitter's the godsitter`

The context/subject revolves around my life living with paranoid schizophrenia, PTSD, addiction, and a life of regrets. Critiques welcome.

I'm sorry, I'm having issues formatting it properly on mobile

Making beats this way is so damn cozy, I love this setup

Just wanted to share my cozy bedroom coffee table "studio" setup.

The hardware is a Dirtywave m8 model 02 tracker that's being broadcasted to the CRT with a Raspberry Pi. I have fancy samplers and synthesizers and interfaces and whatnot, but 99% of my production time is spent chilling, lying back on my futon, staring at this Trinitron. The laptop is running Ableton which has my exports from the m8, but it isn't attached to this setup. The sampler you see there is a SP-404mkII with a custom skin I printed for it, though I don't really use it outside of rehearsing live setups. I use some Edifier bookshelf speakers for the coffee table, and some nice Genelecs for when I'm hooked up to my audio interface. The laptop is a gen 2 L13 thinkpad. The cpu on this damn thing isn't meant for music production, especially when I have 120 tracks in a single live set, but I make do!

This cute device has forever changed the way I make music and I am so grateful for it. I produced music for 10 years and never released anything until I started using the m8. Now I release experimental electronic and rap music almost every month! This short intro is from track 02 on the 24 minute album I released today. The concept behind it is an instrumental commentary on living as a schizophrenic with PTSD and reflecting on how I've managed my trauma. I'll warn you though, the release gets a little intense. I like to call my music "flash game-core" as I have difficulty describing it in any other way.

If you're interested in making music in a way that feels like a video game, look into trackers and specifically the history behind the m8, which is *HEAVILY* inspired by the LSDJ rom for the original Gameboy. I got started with this workflow by purchasing a $34 Teensy 4.1, which is a little Arduino-like ARM prototyping board that you can load with official firmware and connect to an assortment of devices which offers 80% of the m8 experience.

Life is good!

^(*I didn't see rules on the sidebar against self-promo, so I assume this is okay to share. If I need to repost with less info about the music, I understand*)

Anyone "Est. 2015" that's complete ass?

I got the game on Steam in 2015 and have gone years without playing it. I play with chat disabled and part of me wants to rock the title just to be ironic but God is it embarrassing to have almost 3k hours and barely be gold.

I don't really care that I'm bad that much. Either way, the game is ridiculously fun on my SteamDeck (here's to hoping Steam gets the new update), but I feel rather silly seeing people with 100 hours absolutely wreck me.

Edit: Damn apparently there's a silent majority I may have tapped into. I think I'm gonna start rocking the title now just because. Gold for life.

Any 3D-printable frame replacements for Meteor75? (Non-o4)

I looked around Thingiverse, but it seemed that every one I could find required some level of modification, different hardware, or other parts like rubber bands to secure the battery.

I'm aware of there being alternatives to Thingiverse, but I'm not really familiar with any of them.

I ask because I'm flying on kind of a budget and would like to be able to print a new frame if I need to one day. I understand there's difficulty in a perfect 1:1 recreation, but one that doesn't require additional hardware or modification would be very helpful.

Thanks

When it's time to go, it's time to go...

...but right now the hour showes "rhyme flow"

I often ponder what artists I would bring back from the dead. I think about this line a lot but I also feel like it's a very fitting plot point for a true supervillian. Plus, he would get more time with his family.

What do you think?

I would also bring back Freddie Mercury assuming he would be in perfect health

Taurine alternatives or Taurine-free energy drinks/blends?

So, I really loved energy drinks growing up. I never touched coffee until I was 22 and outside of Coca Cola, NOS and Monster were my access to higher levels of Caffeine. I would drink it while I worked and felt really good. I wasn't aware at the time how big of an effect Taurine had on preventing the jitters and anxiety associated with Caffeine. As I got older, I came across the MicroCenter exclusive Super Meat Boy GFuel which I thought tasted delicious. When I would go to the bagel shop/deli, I'd score a Monster and be vibing all day.

Around this time, I tried coffee for the first time. I enjoyed it but it made me very anxious. I did some research as to why, and found that the difference was the Taurine. So, I bought some Taurine capsules and started taking a gram of it (a single capsule) with my coffee. It felt great.

Then, one day, I foolishly decided to take 2 or 3 grams of Taurine in one day, which isn't considered crazy by the standards of the supplements subreddit. I found that 8-12 hours later, I would get a really uncomfortable level of heart palpitations. I thought "Hey maybe it the Caffeine" so I avoided Caffeine for a while. I found that the Taurine helped with just regular everyday anxiety previously, so one day I decided to take a single capsules just to help with that. And then, on a day where I consumed ZERO caffeine, on that night, I got the Tachycardia again. I thought "maybe this is a bunk batch of Taurine" so I avoided both Caffeine and the capsules for a while. Then, a few weeks later, I tried a regular can of Monster, and AGAIN my heart was acting up that night.

Since then, I've consumed TONS of medium-roast coffee and NEVER get the palpitations. Then, a year since consuming Taurine, I tried a Monster again. Same damn problem. Somehow, I unmasked a genetic predisposition to not handling Taurine like others do after I took a lot one day. I looked into it, and it seems that after enjoying the dip in blood pressure from the Taurine, as I level out, it spikes after it wears off and that's what I'm feeling at night.

I continue to be a big fan of Caffeine, I just get a bit of anxiety with it and can't consume Energy Blends anymore.

Are there any Energy Drinks that DON'T have Taurine in them? For fun, I googled it and found only really obscure brands that I don't associate a reputation with.

Also, are there any supplements/nootropics that have a similar calming effect that opposes Caffeine like Taurine has? I enjoy magnesium glycinate for going to sleep and for muscle soreness, and I enjoy Ashwagandha for anxiety sometimes. L-Theanine helps but it has a smoking-cessation effect that neutralizes the effects of Nicotine which is a quality-of-life issue for me as I enjoy consuming Nicotine.

I would just keep drinking coffee, but the sugary creaminess makes me rather nauseated after a while and I find black coffee unnapetizing.

I'm hesitant to try Caffeine capsules or pills (unless I got really low-dose ones) because I don't want it to hit me too quickly to where I get too anxious, or too slowly to where I'm still stimulated once I'm trying to go to sleep.

If you say "bro the Caffeine is what made you feel weird", please read the whole post 🙏 I've done quite of bit of control/experimental testing and I am very resilient to stimulants, Taurine just makes me feel weird these days.

I am prescribed Vyvanse, for context, but I try to avoid taking it EVERY day as to keep my CNS Stimulant tolerance lower, so I fill in the gaps with Caffeine to help with my intense ADHD.

I promise I won't bust it this time!

I got an M75 Pro for Christmas last year and I loved it but I let the throttle go when a prop was obstructed and I think I blew the ESC. Luckily, these things are relatively more affordable than they used to be. This is Take Two.

I find that I REALLY have to make the throttle response have a strong level of Expo and Mid flattening to handle it okay. I'm using a TX16S and while it feels high quality generally, I feel like there's a lot of plastic-on-plastic going on and my throttle sorta juts up too high or down too low.

How common is this kinda throttle tuning for both pros and newbies? Are there people who can just go stock? It feels impossible.

I'm mainly using Angle mode, though I've been practicing Acro on a free FPV game on my Steamdeck and I'm slowly getting better.

Can a bump or hair make an ESC fail?

I got a Meteor75 last Christmas. It worked perfectly until a few days later when it didn't. One motor would either not spin at all or just jut back and forth. I swapped the motors and it was the same issue in the same quadrant, so I imagine that the ESC is the issue.

I blamed myself for not handling the drone better and since they're a lot more affordable than they used to be and I'm not quite that good at soldering, I just ordered a new one and it works perfectly.

However, I don't want to cause the same issue again. These whoops seem like they can take a bit of a beating, but is it possible that if a rotor/motor gets stuck in position with throttle being sent, can the electricity damage the corresponding ESC? What about if hair gets in the motor? I have two dogs and they are hypoallergenic but they still shed like I imagine any dog and sometimes I find hair on the drone despite avoiding the floors or any place the dogs are.

I don't know how to exactly search for this as a pre-existing thread and I don't trust asking AI about something that involves me potentially wasting money.

Thanks for reading
