Pike bit over 1mm fluoro when using frog

The pike were extremely active yesterday evening. After a lot of fish caught on jerks I wanted to test out a frog colaer to the weeds. Instant attack. When I set the hook, the pike bit over my 1mm fluoro. I waited roughly 2 seconds before setting the hook to make sure it had it good. Was I just super unlucky or did I make a mistake?

First time I have been bitten off in over a year, but this is my first time using a frog - as I mainly use wobblers and jerks. The frog I used was a savage gear pop walker, 5cm with hair.

Should you use a wired leader with frogs, or should I get a slightly bigger frog?
