we’re going into town today for the Fourth of July celebration and it’s hot as balls outside so I’m going to wear a tank top. I don’t shave even though I’m a girl and she says it’s selfish of me to wear a tank top because I’m only thinking of my own comfort and not anybody else’s lol i guess because I embarrass her, I cannot believe it

I don’t know why I was getting picked on—maybe it was because I was a girl and short and loud—but I was going to this one Christian camp where there were a bunch of kids. I was about 14, and everyone was in the pool playing a game.

The game consisted of a beach ball being hit through a grid that was above everyone’s heads. There were nine squares, each kid to a square, and if the ball got bapped to you you had to bap it to someone else. You couldn’t hit it twice or let it touch the ground (or the water), or else you were out and had to get in line for the next game. If someone ahead of you got out, you’d move forward. The longest-lasting person would end up in the center, and they would be known as the king (or queen).

Obviously tall people had an advantage in this game. Being short, I sucked at it, but I had befriended the tallest guy at camp and he saved me from getting out a lot. He was often the “king.”

Of course, he couldn’t save me all the time, and there was another kid (also tall) who always wore sunglasses and a metal chain necklace and a backwards hat. He only wore the sunglasses in the pool. Anyway he got me out at least four times in a row before my friend got mad at him and got HIM out.

So we had to stand next to each other in line, and as soon as he grinned at me I splashed him with water and threatened to do martial arts on him (I do Brazilian Jiujitsu). I didn’t really mean anything by it, I just wanted to intimidate him. He was like “oh I know BJJ too” and I said that maybe we should spar sometime then, and he didn’t seem too keen on doing that. He also couldn’t tell me what his favorite move was.

That night, the whole camp was hanging around a picnic area, some playing the ball game (this time out of water), others sitting and talking. My bully was getting me out again, and my friend got mad and got him out again, and so on. While we were waiting in line, some others, who were watching it all play out, asked us if we could give a demonstration of BJJ. I didn’t see why not, and my bully agreed.

So we went out to the middle of the floor (the picnic area had a concrete floor, so I wasn’t actually going to knock him down or anything), and he bowed at me.

He bowed.

In BJJ, people traditionally handshake, not bow (at least in my experience). He did not offer me a handshake. He…was a big fat liar.

So I acted like I was going to knock him down by going for his legs. He thought I was going for his private parts, and he hurriedly jumped back and covered them. I paused, stared, and then burst out laughing and explained what I’d been trying to do.

This made him break down and say that he didn’t know BJJ, that he’d been lying, and that he was sorry. Then he ran away in the opposite direction amid laughter from everyone else and avoided me from that point on

I never hurt him or was intending to hurt him btw, I was just trying to show some martial arts moves

e.g. why can’t we feel water when it’s the same temperature as our bodies? I’m guessing it has something to do with chemistry but I’m really not sure

They’ve got a coop and they can all be outside in the shade at the same time. There are two fans in the coop as well, and plenty of cold water to drink. When outside, most of them burrow in the dust and pant.

We’ve tried giving them a shallow tub of (not too cold) water to wallow around in, but they refuse to use it. (To be honest most of them are rather dumb; two have to be lifted onto the roosts every night.) other than the panting, though, they seem to be okay. Is there another way to cool them down? Do they need to be cooled down?

Heroin? Meth? Xanax? Coffee? Microplastics?

title. no ideas. no motivation, because writing is too hard. I’m getting out of breath just writing this

It can be objectively terrible, but it won’t matter, because once I’ve destroyed all other books, it’ll be popular by default as it will be the only book in the world. So I’ll have saved myself the trouble of writing something that’s actually of quality, too!
