I have 8–12 months to prepare for a switch and I’m targeting Google for systems/software roles.

I currently have \~3.5 YOE in Qualcomm, working on **SoC power management, low-power systems, power validation & optimisation**

What should I specifically prepare for these interviews?

Looking for a **realistic roadmap based on recent interview experiences.**

If you’ve recently interviewed at Google for similar roles, what did you actually get asked?

Joining as Engineer is worst choice even in Qualcomm

I joined Qualcomm in June 2025 with ~2 YOE as an Engineer.

The issue is the huge gap between Engineer and Senior Engineer:
Engineer base: usually max ~₹18–20L
Senior Engineer: lateral hires can get ₹28L+ base

Internal promotion may take ~2+ years, and even then may not match lateral-hire pay.

A friend with 2.8 YOE recently joined Qualcomm as Senior Engineer at ₹28L base.

I’m expecting a promotion in AR26. If I don’t get it, I’m seriously considering switching.

Anyone else faced this Engineer → Senior Engineer pay gap at Qualcomm?

This is shocking if it’s true, IT companies are leaving us for philipines

Is this true? If Indian IT companies are leaving us. Then we’re doomed.

IT companies has provided lot of opportunities in India. Ofcourse majority of tax is coming from salaried class.

If this industry is being collapsed in next 4-5 years, Then India will see massive unemployment and extremely dangerous af.

I’m scared literally.

Modi will resign as PM one day, but BJP will leave a severe economic

The state of our Nation will be unimaginable by the time BJP lost elections.

Based on recent freebies, scams, corruptions, looting..

Top to bottom, wherever you go, you see corruption, potholes, drainage issues, road rage incidents, unemployment.

Unemployment is major concerning issue, the more the unemployment is, the more the employed people will be exploited.

Is this the peak corruption, we’re seeing ?

India's deep-tech funding scheme is under heavy scrutiny.

Out of 22 firms awarded ₹2,192Cr in soft loans, 15 have direct investment ties to the selection panel members, walking away with ₹1,377Cr.

Brilliant, un-connected startups are left in the dark while elite portfolios thrive. True R&D dies in the shadows of a rigged game

AP CM accidentally said his networth is 1,00,000 crores and attached the proof.

So here’s the original source behind that tweet. I did some digging and found the exact video where he states that his net worth is ₹1,00,000 crore.

He is the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and a leader from the NDA alliance. Hopefully, this post won’t be deleted this time.

Paid ₹2.31 Lakhs in Tax Today. Frustrated, Squeezed, and Feeling Completely Defeated.

Filing my ITR today literally brought tears to my eyes. Seeing the final calculation screen has left me completely numb and angry.

My Net Tax Liability stands at ₹2,31,519.
Take a look at how they squeeze every single rupee:
Tax on Total Income: ₹2,22,942
Health & Education Cess (4%): ₹8,918
Interest/Fees (Sec 234B/C): ₹2,723

They track absolutely everything now. Bank interest, every tiny capital gain, salary deductions nothing escapes their automated system.

If a salaried employee makes a minor error, an automated notice is issued immediately.

I don't want to do thus charity service. it's okay label me as Anti national. still i dont want to contribute..

I feel I'm being cheated, Many politicians, business people and others aren't paying tax they're simply evading it by cash transactions.

why should only salaried people do charity service?

I’m shocked and running out of words to say.

People are on X mocking and labelling Pakistani’s and Anti nationals.

Whoever is protesting against BJP and wants to bring revolution among the youth.

When will these folks understand, criticising govt doesn’t mean criticising Nation.

What’s wrong with X people mindset?

Seeing Claude + MCP being adopted for system validation in semiconductors. How are your teams using AI?

I work in semiconductor system validation (Linux power management, suspend/resume, log analysis, and root-cause debugging across hardware, firmware, and software).

Recently, I attended an internal workshop where an AI assistant based on Claude + MCP was demonstrated.

It could:
Parse large log files
Correlate failures with historical issues
Identify likely root causes
Locate the relevant source code
Suggest patches for software teams
Automate a significant part of the debugging workflow
It was honestly much more capable than I expected.

Basically these engineers don’t code. We’re system level power debug engineers.

For engineers working in product companies (Qualcomm, AMD, NVIDIA, Intel, TI, Broadcom, etc.):

Do you see AI mainly augmenting engineers, or do you expect it to reduce hiring for these roles over the next few years?

Or Will these engineers be replaced by AI in 5-10yrs?

How safe are system validation/debugging roles from AI compared to traditional software engineering?

I work in the semiconductor industry on system-level validation and root-cause analysis, mainly around Linux power management, suspend/resume flows, log analysis, and debugging interactions between hardware, firmware, and software.

I don’t write production code. My work is mostly analyzing complex system behavior, identifying root causes, and collaborating with software and hardware teams.

Do you think system validation and root-cause analysis are relatively more resilient to AI than traditional software engineering, or are they just as exposed?

Do you think AI will mainly augment validation engineers, or could it significantly reduce the need for these roles over the next 5–10 years?

(Expecting answers from people working Qualcomm, Amd, Nvidia, Texas, Intel, Marvel, etc… in semi conductor)

Power Analysis/Optimisation in post silicon phase

I am power analysis/optimisation engineer at one of the product firm.

Among semiconductor domain, this work is mostly based on power optimisation, heavily involved in analysis, enablement power features.

There is strictly no coding.

Does anybody know about this Job?

Are power engineers seen as valuable and demand in this AI era.?

One thing I want to ask, what is the future for such engineers?

AI is being adopted everywhere, so will these engineers sustain that?

25M | 32 LPA CTC (Product-based) | Home buying dilemma (HYD) vs Rent + Invest | Seeking FIRE guidance

Current Situation
• Age: 25M
• Income: 32 LPA CTC (including RSUs) in a product-based firm.
• I have a decent home already in my native town.
• A decent 2BHK in Hyderabad costs around 60-80L (depending on area). I can probably afford the EMI but I’m not convinced it’s the right decision.

Recently, my friend bought a home in his remote native district (68L, 2BHK) but they live in Bengaluru.

What I’m actually worrying about

  1. AI is advancing rapidly and nobody knows what will happen in 5 years to IT jobs and how jobs will look like.

  2. No job feels 100% secure.

  3. I may lose my job at any time in the future — it mostly depends on company performance. Any day you can receive a cost-cutting / business restructure mail.

  4. I may have to move to another city in the future. If that happens, I would have to depend on tenants to cover the EMI.

  5. I don’t know how people are sleeping peacefully with 70-80L EMI on a corporate job.

  6. 60-80L isn’t a big deal to most government employees (as everyone knows the reason).

  7. I have also noticed that Hyderabad has many unsold flats — nearly 80,000–1,00,000.

  8. 20 years back nobody had predicted the future of IT and the boom of real estate in cities… and after 20 years from now nobody knows what will happen.

  9. Currently I am investing in US stocks for long-term returns.

  10. IDK what to do now.

At the same time, I’m also not very confident about investing. Most of my money is sitting in savings because I’m worried about making the wrong financial decisions.

Looking back, what decision do you wish you had made in your late 20s?

And, if not real estate, how would you invest the surplus cash over the next 5–10 years?

Seniors, could you please give me guidance for better investment plans for the long term and probably the best retirement plan?

Am I the only one feeling this as creepy?

I got a reel while scrolling on jnsta. From a peddi movie scene where the actor ram charan is saying: “Want to grab her and kiss/hug her without her consent”

And in the comments section, People are tagging their friends with similar mindset..

It is fun until if someone does the same to our family members..

And that entire scene is so creepy..

Buying SKHY on listing day or waiting a few days?

I’m bullish on SK hynix long term because of the AI/HBM story, but I’m unsure about buying on the first day of its Nasdaq listing.

As we have seen lot of hype for SPCX on the listing day, it’s listed with higher price..after few days now it’s a running at lower price..

Should I buy SK Hynix shares on the listing day itself or wait for few days once it settles down the noise and will run at the expected price?

Are sw salaries way higher than Semi conductor engineers?

I saw this on other sub, someone has posted with earnings 5L+ with 8yoe.

Base is 96L
RSUs: 25L

Why semiconductor engineering salaries aren’t on par with high level sw salaries with the same exp..

Just wanted to know, how much does Qualcomm pay for 8yoe.

Stocks: 7000 USD RSUs (Average Annual)
Bonus: 8% of base

Industry: Semiconductor
YoE: 3yoe, Btech

I’m more worrying about my base.. I feel it’s quite low as per my exp

How do married couples manage life in Bengaluru when both work far from each other?

Hi everyone,

This is something I’ve always wondered.
In Bengaluru, it’s quite common for a husband and wife to work in different parts of the city. One person’s office might be in Whitefield while the other’s is in Electronic City or Hebbal.

With Bengaluru’s traffic, how do couples actually manage their daily lives?

How much time do you spend commuting every day?

How do you divide household chores like cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, etc.?

If you have kids, how do you manage school drop-offs, pickups, doctor visits, and emergencies?

Do both of you get enough time together on weekdays?

Does one partner eventually switch jobs to be closer to home?

Or being a housewife is better for maintaining healthy lifestyle ?

Isn’t it POCSO a non-bailable case?

I am not against to BJP (I’m not anti National).

i have seen news regarding the Bandi Bhageerath has granted a bail from Malkajgiri Court for attending the exams.

Just asking, if a poor guy can get the same bail if he wants to attend exams?
