Is anyone working on a more advanced Dreamcast frontend/launcher like Swiss, Cubiboot, OPL, PSBBN?

I've been using OpenMenu with GDEMU and was wondering if there's anything newer or in development that aims to go significantly beyond the current OpenMenu experience.

I'd love to see something more like Swiss on GameCube, not just a game selector, but a full-featured Dreamcast frontend with a slick, snappy UI, favorites, recently played, virtual folders, metadata, etc.

But the really interesting part to me would be per-game compatibility/controller profiles.

For example, something that could have a game-specific profile to:

- Reverse Y-axis analog input for certain games

- Adjust analog deadzones

- Correct weird analog/trigger behavior

- Apply controller compatibility workarounds

- Potentially apply known game-specific patches automatically

- Save different controller configurations on a per-game basis

I've had some weird experiences with third-party controllers where OpenMenu itself seemed to be missing inputs or moving without me touching anything. I initially suspected OpenMenu, but I eventually discovered that my original DreamConn can actually cause certain games/ports, Vice City in particular, to crash, so I had misdiagnosed that problem.

Is anyone working on anything along these lines? Are there any upcoming OpenMenu forks, alternative frontends, or other Dreamcast projects that are moving toward this kind of "Swiss or OPL for Dreamcast" concept?

I'm aware of the newer OpenMenu forks and features, but I'm wondering if there's anything more ambitious on the horizon. I'd love to see the Dreamcast eventually have a really polished frontend that handles game-specific quirks.

Has anyone used Lightconn and Dreamconn S?

I'm curious to hear people's thoughts I have the older Dreamconn and the only downsides for me is the connectivity range, battery + charging, and minor nitpicks like the lack of microphone support and newer ports don't normally work with it.

A P3R music shuffler mod that randomly mixes FES, Portable, and Reload?

I'd love to see a music shuffler/randomizer mod for Persona 3 Reload that randomly chooses which version of a song plays.

For songs that have multiple versions, it could randomly choose between FES, Portable, and Reload every time that track is triggered. So instead of always hearing the same arrangement, you might get the FES version one time and Reload another time.

Basically like listening to a radio where you know all the songs, but you never know which version is going to come up. I think that would make the soundtrack feel much less predictable on repeat playthroughs.

Then, as an extra fun feature, there could be a very occasional chance of a song from another Persona game being thrown into the shuffle.

Has anyone made anything like this already?

Best decompiled ports to try?

I was really impressed with 60fps Mario 64 as the smoothness feels so modern. What other great impressive ports are out there?

D2: A Slow-Paced Game That Isn’t for Everyone, But I Honestly Think It’s Good

Just beat D2, and honestly it's a decent game. I'd even go as far as to say it's good. Just not for everyone because of the pace and jank.

My biggest complaint is that the random encounters eventually get pretty tedious. There's just not a lot of variety in the combat. You mostly aim, shoot weak points, and repeat. It would've been even better if it worked like Resident Evil 4 tank control movement during combat, but you stop and aim and reposition instead of being rooted to the ground.

With my weird ADHD brain, though, I was absolutely hooked at first. The atmosphere is incredible, wandering through the snow is oddly relaxing, and the subtle musical score really pulls you in. That sense of mystery kept me going for a long time, even if the novelty eventually wore off.

The story is actually much more interesting than I expected, too. There are a few really good YouTube discussions that helped me appreciate what the game was trying to do. It's weird, psychological, and surprisingly ambitious.

I also liked that you can hunt animals for healing, but the hunting itself is frustrating. Moose and caribou are ridiculously fast, the rifle scope sways way too much, and animals disappear so quickly that it often feels more annoying than rewarding. Still, it's a good mechanic, and I wish you could pick off monsters from a distance or freely use other weapons.

Visually, I think the game still has a lot of charm. The graphics were impressive for their time and, in some ways, reminded me of Eternal Darkness and Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth. Obviously, some of the facial animations are primitive, and the dialogue can be ropey. Kimberly especially comes across as awkward, although once you learn more about her, it makes sense why she's so off-putting.

One smaller thing I appreciated was Laura as the main character. She's mostly silent, very feminine, and pretty, and that actually made her feel more human to me. It's refreshing compared to a lot of modern games.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend D2 to Dreamcast fans. It's weird, ambitious, and unlike almost anything else. Someone on YouTube described it as "The Thing if it were a soap opera," and honestly, that's probably the best description I've heard.

Openxenium 1.0 FRAGs most of the time but sometimes works

On this one the hard drive was originally completely dead so I had to resort to modchip but if there's an easy method to tsop flash without original serial locked HDD then I would rather do that since it boots up fine without the modchip. What are common culprits and things to try?

Best mesh systems? I'm really liking Eero

I posted a while back that my friend had a proprietary calix ONT and gigaspire and I used a newer tp link router as another wired node and it was sorta working but had slow speeds even in AP mode so I don't think double NAT was the issue. So far eero in bridge mode has been a great alternative mesh for his wifi. I just wonder why new tp link routers and APs did that sometimes where'd they'd work fine on speed test then hours later have slow speeds as I have Verizon fiber and tp link works great.

Is the 83" Samsung S85F (2025) stand compatible with the 83" Samsung S90F (2025)?

I have a 2025 83-inch Samsung S90F OLED that didn't come with a stand, and I'm trying to find an OEM replacement.

Can anyone confirm whether the 83-inch 2025 Samsung S85F stand (the two-piece stand that can be installed in either the center or wide position) is physically compatible with the 83-inch 2025 S90F?

I'm looking for someone who has actually tried it or has access to the service manual/parts information. The TVs appear to use the same chassis, but I'd like to verify before buying a stand.

Thanks!

Best and worst Saturn peripherals?

How does each one stack up compared to others? Which are the best newer ones? I'm curious about the wireless controller with 2 analogs

Do these work good with other peripherals?

I see they have a toggle with a wheel icon, did the Saturn or PS1 and PS2 have a better wheel or have they all aged badly at least compared to modern standards? Does the Saturn one work with the Saturn twin stick or other peripherals? The VMU I guess connects to PC which is kool.

Wireless 3d pad controller and dongle?

I saw that 8bitmods is going to make it so the expansion slot in the Dreamcast for a battery and receiver so naturally I think the 3d pad could support that since the cable is detachable. Also the 3d pad controller is a good bit better than the dreamcast controller for comfort. How are the retrobit saturn controllers? Would you recommend the one with 2 analogs?

Has much changed for the Legends Ultimate cabinet these past few years?

I've been out of the loop since like 2023 and own 2 of them. Onesauce amazed me with the performance and I heard Coinops has been retired. I never tried Legends Unchained but has anything else happened? I remember hearing about a follow up 4k cabinet but I guess that never came to fruition.

How to repair these ripped pads?

It's an ecobee lite thermostat and I'm wondering if there's different points on the board I can solder the wires directly to or some kind of easier connector
