"That's right" on The Den/ Den2

Anyone mind the sample they used to play on The Den of a fella saying "that's right" in a strong southern accent, mid to late 90s?

Must have been someone famous in the south for it to have been worth referencing in the first place but I've always wondered.

It was sort of delivered like "that's ri-aght". Little music to it.

New interview with AKERCOCKE'S Jason Mendonca

Prog death legend and Akercocke vocalist and guitarist Jason Mendonca and I had a nice long chat on Sunday last about playing guitar, balancing creativity with fulltime employment, vocal derangement and the importance of noise in music. Jason details his love of Rush, we talk classic British comedy, and he offers some choice insights into the composition of classic metal tracks and songs including “Leviathan”, “The Promise” and more.

I reckon this is a pretty boss conversation and all credit for that goes to Mr Mendonca who is simply absorbing and charismatic company at its finest.

If you take a look and like it, tell a pal and consider subscribing as I have plenty more videos with similarly brilliant artists both posted and still to come. Always love to hear from people in the comments (genuinely, that’s not just YT algo bullshit).

The Who in Cookstown, 1968?

My auld fella is convinced he saw The Who in (or around) 1968 in Cookstown, when Daltrey's hair was shorter. Can't find any record of this online but is there a chance the gig records online aren't accurate, or are we at the stage in 2026 where the Internet is absolute and that's that? He can't be convinced otherwise!

The Who in Northern Ireland, 1968?

My auld fella is convinced he saw The Who in (or around) 1968 in Cookstown (Co Tyrone), when Daltrey's hair was shorter. Can't find any record of this online but is there a chance the gig records online aren't accurate, or are we at the stage in 2026 where the Internet is absolute and that's that? Getting in touch with Mike Portnoy

Have any of you ever heard back from Mike? I've been trying to see if I can get in touch to see if he'd be interested in a channel appearance (based on him doing calls with small channels while on tour), and have tried the chats on social media as well as the contact form on his website. Probably should have left it until the tour was over but just wondering if anyone had ever heard back from him in any regard, fan mail etc?

Is the HD Tracks version of One Little Victory on Youtube

Trying to illustrate a point about remastering vs. remixing and the HD Tracks version of One Little Victory would be really useful, but I'm struggling to find it on Youtube. Does anyone have a link that they've come across in the past, maybe it's been labelled some other way (or you've uploaded it yourself?)

(Sorry, supposed to be a question mark in the post title!)

Forgive the promo, my channel is new so I'm doing the rounds manually. Hope some of you might want to check this out!

In this brand new interview, I talk with Mortal Kombat legend Dan Forden about working on one of the world's greatest gaming legacies with a dedicated focus on his experience as a musician - his influences and development, his philosophy about composition, tonality, collaboration and impact, as well as his work outside of MK including his excellent EP Warning Signs (linked from the Youtube description) and playing bass for Cheer-Accident, including on the 1996 classic Not A Food (check that one out King Crimson fans!)

For any musicians watching, really, this one is for you. Dan appears in the excellent Mortal Kombat Legacy documentary videos from last year but there's not as much detail on how the music was made (both in terms of arrangement and hardware) as I found myself craving, so I decided to reach out so I could ask him myself. He is my favourite composer of all time, and a very inviting and gracious guest with, as you'll find out, GREAT taste in music, including Haken, Gentle Giant, Korn, Lettuce, Meshuggah and more.

Dan goes into minute detail about his music for this extended conversation, and it was an absolute honour to spend the afternoon with him. He's the coolest guy going and we're already talking ideas for a followup, so get SUBSCRIBED my friends! It'd be a stone cold gas to have you - Paul

Someone over on the Rush sub caught this - at 28:15 in the linked interview from last September, Hugh Syme says "I think we're also kind of a little more attuned to compositing and Photoshop and layers, and now, God forbid, AI".

Can't figure out whether he's saying that sarcastically because he clearly has no issue with gen AI, or if he's trying to suggest that he doesn't use it. Neither is appealing tbf

Hi fellow drum people! The original and best My Dying Bride drummer Rick Miah kindly sat for an interview with me (really it's more of a conversation than an interview) but we took a very deep dive into the early glory years of the Bride over the course of a sunny afternoon. This is the first time Rick's ever done something like this and it's well worth a look or a listen, there's lots of drum talk, lots of detail on classic records like Turn Loose the Swans and The Angel and the Dark River, and a good few laughs as well. If you like the video consider subscribing, more ex-Bride lads are going to be on the channel soon as well as other metal legends from the UK and beyond. If you know anyone you think might enjoy, please share!
