I just finished Lord of Chaos, and what an emotional book....

So...............

Ever since the start of the series, there is this recurring theme that the Dark One wants Rand alive (even wanting him to reach full potential)...

I have some thoughts on why - maybe he needs Rand to spread "Chaos" along his journey to help breakup the world, possibly he needs Rand to break him free, or he wants Rand to kneel before him and serve him (we hear this a lot), or maybe he just wants a good fight which is silly, ...

I'm still trying to figure out who is The Daughter of The Nine Moons, and now I am curious about why the Dark One seems to keep or even help Rand along this Journey....

Hey everyone, seeking your advice as a console gamer (it has been since later 90s since I owned a gaming PC so I am used to just turning on my console and playing games)...

While trying out my Steam Machine, The Crew Motorfest looks incredible, which is awesome...

I am looking to get into The Witcher 3, and I noticed it seems fuzzy - I wondered if it is just because the game is old, but then I tried it on Xbox Series X and it looks really good...

I have not touched any settings on my Steam Machine (I worry I will screw something up)...

I am assuming The Witcher 3 should look great on Steam Machine...

Do you have any advice on visual/display settings for the Steam Machine, such as for games like Witcher 3 - are these console settings or in-games settings?

I spent a month trying to figure out if I wanted to get a 5080 gaming PC or an eGPU for my Legion Go 2 Z2E, which I just love.

I finally bought the PowerSpec G765 because I thought having another device/option/installedgamestorage would go further than having a device that connects an existing device to my TV....

Well, I brought it home yesterday and wasted hours to find out it was just plain dead on arrival with no output and red blinking motherboard lights...

I could either return or exchange... I gave up the right and returned it (the round trip drive is over 2 hours to MicroCenter)...

I could always rebuy it, but maybe I get the eGPU for my Legion Go 2....

I have an 86" LCD LG 4k TV from 4 years ago - nothing super special...

So the gaming PC or this eGPU would connect to the TV....

I see that there are two main options (I want something super easy and effortless, I only have 1-2 hours a night to game, and I already have PS5, xbox, switch 2, steam machine and hundreds of physical games in my backlog to play that I have no time to play... currently 120 obsessed with crimson desert, which runs great on the Legion Go 2 btw)...

Without a care for costs, which would do better with my TV: LG - 86” Class UP8770 Series LED 4K UHD

ROG XG Mobile 5070Ti (this is the mobile GPU)

AORUS RTX 5060 Ti AI BOX (this is a desktop GPU)

I just want easy, no tinkering, and to enjoy my Legion Go 2 to the fullest

I posted about how I finally settled on a PowerSpec G765, but it arrived dead...

So, I returned it today with the thought of either just returning it and giving up on trying PC gaming, or exchanging it for a working one...

Well, I just returned it - but I thought I would do one final ask for your opinions...

I have PS5, Xbox, Switch 2, Steam machine, Legion Go 2 Z2E, and a huge library of console games, but I only have 1-2 hours a night to game... about 120 hours into Crimson Desert, with a substantial backlog of games I want to play...

Back in the late 90s I would buy gaming PCs as a teen so I thought it would be fun to get a gaming PC....

But, it would be connected to the same TV that all my couch consoles are connected to (I am a computer engineer turned patent attorney and I work all day at my laptop and desk, and the last thing I want to do is stay at the same desk after 60 hour work weeks to game in the same home office room... I need a change to location - like to the gaming room)...

So, it is pretty redundant to get a gaming PC if I am not particular about graphics and I have hundreds of games to play that I can barely get to?

I guess it was meant to be a neat toy, but maybe it is more of a frustration and situation where "the things we own, own us" as I think it was pretty frustrating to buy the PC yesterday and return it today, which involved 5 hours of driving....

We recently got a Legion Go 2 Z2E, which stirred something in me regarding PC gaming as I used to build my own gaming PCs as a kid in the late 90s, and my son is 14 and really into electronics, tinkering, and would love if we had a PC...

I was looking at getting PowerSpec G765 Gaming PC...

What are your thoughts?

It would be connected to the TV to basically play steam games and for my son to tinker around with - I am guessing it is kinda of redundant do to our gaming consoles but it would be cool to have some gaming PC in the house....

Is the PC a good build, and will the TV be a problem (e.g., will it be a bottleneck or suffer performance issue if receiving input from a 5080 GPU as it is not a gaming monitor)?

Anyone else also ride The Wheel of Emotional Rollercoaster throughout this series - what has been a wild high or low point for you?

Just joined the group and another gaming laptop group to get some advice...

We were thinking of my buying my son a gaming PC (we have PS5, xbox, switch 2 consoles as we are a gaming family) after noticing that he installed Roblox on his cheap $400 dell laptop that he connected to the TV for low key gaming and 3D design for his 3D printer....

I was thinking of buying a prebuilt gaming PC with 2tb storage and 5080 graphics card (I have not built a PC since the early 2000s), but he seems to think a laptop will work best if he moves it to his room, by the 3D printer, or his basement dungeon gaming room).

He is super humble and would take anything, so looking at a mid-level gaming PC - maybe around $1.5k to $2k... he can use the consoles for anything demanding and his expectations are none, but I also don't want to get him something that will be frustration and disappointing as a gift...

Any suggestions (e.g., certain processor, mobile GPU, screen type/size... and definitely any exact model recommendations - would hate to buy something unreliable too)?

Budget: $1500 to $2000

Use Case: gaming and 3D modeling by a 14 year old
