The Avatar is always being misrepresented and slandered in canon
Kuruk was greatly misunderstood
Kyoshi stopping a conqueror lead to his people despising her and future Avatars for centuries
Roku is always given flack for having the capability to prevent a war but didn’t
And Aang is believed to have abandoned the world when it needed him
It’s hardly any different that now Korra is being accused of destroying the world
