23andme Diaspora/migration groups | Possible Louisiana Creole ancestry on grandfather’s side and father’s side? Check description

As far as I know, my grandfather’s side of the family has deep roots in Arkansas (I believe in or around Hope especially). My cousins and I each have the Ark-La-Tex Creoles group. Now , originally i assumed i got the group from my grandma’s side since her side is of heavy Louisiana ancestry and we have confirmed Creole heritage on that side . However, after seeing that my cousins on my grandfather’s side also have this group, i wonder if it could be indicative of Creole heritage on his side too. Cousin #1 (1st slide) has known roots in Oklahoma on his other side and cousin #2 (2nd slide) has Mexican heritage on his father’s side. In addition to this, my father also has the Ark-La-Texas group and the River Parishes group and his side has deep Mississippi and Alabama roots. He did mention Creole ancestry on his side. Thoughts? Thanks.

What’s with the hype over Ancestral Genome?

I’ve seen many posts with people testing with this company? It seems to be very similar to IllustrativeDNA. What makes it different or reliable compared to other companies? Is it pretty trustworthy being that it’s relatively new?

Indigenous Americas - Mexico

Does receiving 1% Indigenous Americas - Mexico mean deep roots in Mexico or just a marginal error? My aunt received this but we have only heard of Choctaw/Cherokee in terms of the Native American aspect on her side . If descendants of southern tribes like Cherokee / Chata receive this result, does that mean they are genetically part Mexican in a technical /historical context?

Diaspora Groups - future update?

I really appreciate the African Diaspora feature of the ancestry results. It gives a clearer picture of where our ancestors came from within the states. My question is this: Will there be an update to this feature in the near future? Will 23andme add or remove certain groups/migrations in our results?

▲ 2 r/OCD

To preface this post, I am a bisexual male and in my late 20s diagnosed with OCD; I almost always see POCD posts from people still in their teens so I’m nervous about making this post.

My therapist does specialize in OCD but I am not sure if he specializes in POCD specifically. So far I’ve talked to him about other POCD symptoms/ obsessions but I’m hesitant on bringing up POCD stuff. Reason being is I’m scared of being reported or something although I haven’t committed any crime or harmed any child. The previous therapist I mentioned this too said it could be “on my record” for when I apply for a job, but is that legal? When I was younger I started to have intrusive thoughts which went to therapy about. Now I work at a school with middle school kids and I sometimes wonder if I have an attraction to some of the adolescent children I work with. I think they are handsome/good-looking but I don’t have any urge or desire to do anything to them sexually or anything like that.

Sometimes I feel uncomfortable if some of the boys sit too close to me in class; I move my body away slightly otherwise I might feel a tingle in my groin which is alarming. This is scary and has made me think about my orientation a lot. I had a dream about one of the kids and it was a bizarre dream of us saying that we “liked each other”, as in we had a crush on each other. Nothing else happened in the dream but it woke me up and I couldn’t fall back asleep.

I’m hoping this is just POCD and not pedophilia and I feel I need to gently bring this up to my therapist the next time we meet, just don’t know how . Thanks if you read this far.
