what gear are you wearing in hot weather?

I bought kevlar pants in case I crash but unfortunately since the weather is getting warmer, they aren’t comfortable for me to wear since I sweat alot. Also I have a moto helmet but I picked black like an idiot so its absorbing heat whenever I wear it.

Today I wore some shorts with my kneepads and gloves + bike helmet which I felt relatively safe and not stupidly warm, but curious if anyone else is gearing up differently?

selling a scooter with an active warranty?

Anyone sell a scooter with a warranty on it?

I bought my KQi3 Max in May of 2025. It officially has a year of a warranty left and I am wondering if I sell it, how someone who buys it, should I give them the invoice / purchase date to have information readily available if they want to use the warranty? Or is that generally a no go? Has anyone here let someone buy it and then activate the warranty themselves if necessary?

Also, I still have the box for my scooter which is required to send back to NIU for any sort of repairs / spare parts.

district attorney controversy around the current candidates

My ballot came in and I am not surprised that Price is on the ballot. Clearly not going to vote for her, but whats the general consensus on the other 2 candidates, Dickson and Krishan? There was a post from several months ago about how Dickson is at a similar level of Price, letting high profile cases get off easy according to here: https://www.reddit.com/r/oakland/comments/1nszzok/alameda_county_da_flying_under_the_radar/

It seems like a majority of people on the other oakland sub are in support of dickson for some reason,,

how secure is bike parking at cal academy of sciences?

Busy area but I seen one post a few months ago about someone’s e bike getting stolen in front of the museum. Are there any bike link cages? Or a side thats more preferable to park at? I’d be commuting by bart + electric scooter w two locks today.

My sister and I have been looking for places, specifically a 2 bedroom that accepts a small dog. She just started a new job so shes not financially stable yet to know how much shes making so ofc that is putting me off. (We are in the Bay Area so most expensive place in the country)

Otherwise we are going to check out a place today that only has 1 bedrooms listed currently. While it would be significantly cheaper when we split it, I don’t know how to approach the situation with the fact that one of us would have to sacrifice comfort to live together. I would probably take the living room and she would take the bedroom if we do decide.

Btw, I have been living by myself over a year now, renting a small studio with a communal kitchen that has doubled in price since my lease ended in April. So I am paying $1500+ when there are clearly better options out there, to share with someone else. Either way, I am curious if anyone else has done this situation with a familiar loved one, that isn’t romantically tied? (In most cases, couples would share the room while siblings would oppose)

Just a thought mostly. I seen RK9 Rides on Youtube recently review the Yume Raptor 2 and the brand gives you the ability to purchase other throttles to replace the stock twist model.

As someone whos only used thumb throttles, honestly its completely unstable and tiring to have to push on this type of throttle if your going long distances. I went into my local electric scooter / e-bike dealer to check out what scooters they offer, and a couple of them had finger throttles and I decided to test em out and its just SO MUCH more comfortable and stable. Having your entire hand around the handlebar is game changer while your thumb really provides that security.

I would love if more brands like segway, niu, vmax, navee, etc offered the ability to swap out throttles. It seems to me like finger throttles are reserved for high speed, hyperscooters with dual motor options.

We both got off relatively early since we work the night shift for a snack / drink delivery service. I saw him grab a black trash bag and started to dig through the trash for cans. Our warehouse doesn’t recycle so he had to sift through other garbage to find cans.

We live in the most expensive part of california where we are getting paid $25 / hr although that basically feels like federal minimum wage at this point. (Yes i am aware this is pretty decent for us compared to other states but I can’t afford the place I am living at / afford groceries with $25 anymore)

for anyone living under a rock, there are recycling places that you can trade bottles (glass, metal, plastic, etc) for cash. I used to do this with my family when we still lived together but depending on the amount you turn in, you could probably get about $20 - $80 regularly for collecting.

Either way, I have extreme anger and sadness at the fact that my coworkers and I are getting paid pennies, having raises hanged over our head for a letter grade on a board, he’s collecting cans for money out of our LITERAL JOB and they can’t be bothered to pay us a living wage to match the inflation rate. such a joke to be living in america
