Currently living in a student house in Durham and have been told that if we renew the rent will go up to £240pppw from July (for a 6 bed house which is currently £125pppw for 3 of us living in it). Obviously can’t afford this as we’re all PhD students and the UKRI stipend is not enough. Is this sort of rent increase challengable with the new renters right act or can we do anything to get them to knock at least £100pppw off?

I’m an adult wanting to get back into playing the violin (last played 7 years ago working towards ABRSM grade 5, but think I’m back to beginner level) and am based in Durham city. Has anyone got recommendations for specific teachers to contact or websites to look on please?

I’m 24F (in UK) and have been taking Desogestrel for ~6 years, with yearly GP reviews. I’m not using it as birth control, just as a way to stop my periods. Since starting I have had 3-4 day periods every 50-100 days (recently got nearer 50, but on average every 83 days) which has been lovely. 10 days ago I started a period 55 days after my last one, however I am still bleeding. Day 9 (yesterday) has so far been the heaviest and today is also looking to be ‘heavy’ (for me I normally have quite light periods so my heavy is probably someone else’s light-medium). Has anyone else experienced this and how long did it end up going on for? Wondering if stopping Desogestrel will help stop the bleeding as it honestly seems it’s going to go on forever!

I moved out of a shared house (4 of us) a month ago and the landlord has emailed with the deposit deductions. Most of it is fair and me and 2 others are very happy to just accept to prevent unnecessary stress (it works out to ~£120 lost per person out of a £600 deposit each) but the fourth wants to dispute everything as apparently they have evidence. We have talked and agreed on just disputing some big things which they do have photos of when we moved in - I know they’re the type to just go ahead and dispute if the rest of us didn’t agree to at least do these few things.

In the landlords original email he stated that he set costs lower than they were etc and hasn’t charged us for some things so the deduction is less than it should be, but he also mentions if we dispute he’ll add all these things on (such as a new sofa, freezer drawers, painting costs, etc).
Is it legal for the landlord to add things if there is a dispute? It almost sounds threatening how it’s worded and it feels like if the fourth person goes ahead and does this for the few big things, we’ll just all end up losing more money than we already are.

Just pulled an account (in Russia) which hasn’t registered a received card since 2015, but has sent a card out this year and was ‘seen’ 23 days ago. I’m sending the card, but should I be prepared for it not to arrive? And would you send a message to the person to tell them you’ve posted their card so they know they haven’t been forgotten about by the system?
The account has a difference of 10 cards between the sent and received so assuming post just isn’t arriving to them.
Has anyone recently posted to Russia and had their card marked as received? Thanks

My nearest post box doesn’t have the metal plate with the day on it, is it still in use and should I report (not sure how) to RM? If it means it isn’t in use, how can I get them to empty it as I have put post in it. Thanks

Recently moved into a furnished house which came with a kettle and over the last few nights it sounds like the switch on the kettle keeps flicking on and off. Looked at it today and the bottom plastic of the kettle and base it sits on were both really hot even though it hadn’t been used for 2 hours. Have unplugged and taken kettle off the base to hope they cool down, is there anything else I can do to prevent a fire or other problem? Assuming it’s okay now none of it is connected to the socket - have also tuned the socket off so there’s no power running to it.

Just received my first postcard and wondering how everyone stores theirs. I was looking at a self-adhesive book to stick them in but then I wouldn't be able to see the message/stamps, however I'm a student so move about a lot and don't want to stick them to walls etc.

Im currently looking after the sweetest kitty (1 night) but sometimes with no warning he’ll turn around and attack my arm. Is there anything I should do to stop him attacking me? I feel bad just ignoring him the whole time.
Not sure how I should tell the owners as I’m booked to look after him again next week for a few nights, which I’ll happily do so don’t want them to think I’d like them to find someone else.

I got referred to the breast clinic at my local hospital and had the appointment last month where they did an ultrasound and found 4 fibroadenomas (I knew of 3) split across both sides. I think I have just found a 5th one. Does having this many mean something?
Not cancer, but is there anything else which I could have that causes the hormone sensitivity, or does the number of fibroadenomas not matter? (Ie having 10 is the same as having 1)
Will be having a 6 month follow up appointment in December so also wondering if this is something I need to ring the secretary about to let them know.

My G305 wireless mouse has stopped being able to left click on things on my laptop (if that makes sense), sometimes it works but I can click the mouse multiple times in various places before it actually works. It's not low on battery, still moves on the screen, and right click still works so not sure what's wrong, please help and I hope I have the right sub.

I have a terrible habit of fingernail & skin biting and eating when watching tv or other task not involving movement/thought and want to stop. Does anyone have fidget toy recommendations or online shops to buy from (UK) to help me stop these habits please?

I’m having to send a lot of small letters (up to 100g) using 2x 1st class stamps. Is there any good websites to buy discounted stamps, and are non barcoded ones still accepted? Just need to get the cost down but I’m a bit wary as it seems wrong to use cheaper stamps.

I’m just starting to collect pin badges when I go to a show so I can display it but there’s quite a few I’ve seen which are no longer running (such as Charlie and the chocolate factory). Is there somewhere to buy official pins for these?

For shows still running im just buying from their online shop, unless it would be better to have a day in London going to all the theatre merchandise counters to buy them (it’s easy for me to get to London and my brother lives there so wouldn’t just be going for this)
