The Art of the Toys That Made Us looks amazing!

Wow! The Nacelle Company and Oni Press are making art books based on the Toys That Made Us documentary series! I love classic toys, but am definitely more of a book collector, so this is perfect!

Can't wait to read it!

Liberty: The story of the Barber of Seville playwright helping arms smugglers during the American Revolution!

This sounds like a wild read! I've never heard this story before, so I'm excited to go down that rabbit hole, and the art in this book looks amazing. Military.com ran a great interview with the writer this morning. It sounds like fascinating stuff!

Does anyone else have any American Revolution Historical fiction recommendations? seems like a good weekend for it!

Today I learned: The Playwright behind Barber of Seville helped smuggle arms for the American Revolution!

Apparently Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais helped procure arms and ammunition for the American revolutionaries, and the whole affair is detailed in a new graphic novel?! How cool! The art looks beautiful too! I'm sure some folks on this group are already quite familiar with this story, but it sounds fascinating. I know what I'll be researching over the long weekend!

Katsuhiro Otomo discusses Osamu Tezuka in new documentary!

How cool is this? Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo talks about the legacy of Astro Boy creator Osamu Tezuka in a new clip from an upcoming documentary about Tezuka.

I could listen to Otomo talk about manga for hours, but this will tide me over for a bit!

Scholar and Fantasy Writer Ada Palmer Discusses Princess Night

I think folks on this subreddit will be interested in this clip from the upcoming Tezuka documentary featuring an interview with Writer Ada Palmer about Tezuka's Princess Night, science fiction, gender identity and more!

The more I see from this documentary the more excited I am.

30 Days of Night's Creator Returns with new Gothic Horror Graphic Novel: Heartbreak Manor

This one sounds like a trip, and the art is gorgeous! I loved Niles and Worm's October Faction! Can't wait to see what they do next!

This feels like a very weird, contemporary take on the classic holiday ghost story.

Thief: Pulse of Promise! A new graphic novel set in the Thief Universe!?!

I wasn't expecting this, but I have to say, I think Thief would translate really well into the comics medium! Haven't thought about this game in years, but it sounds like I need to re-play them! Would be great to catch up with Garrett again!

Now I'm thinking about other stealth games that could work in other mediums!

Jeff Lemire and Matt Kindt draw Tezuka!

This is so cool!! I never thought I'd see Lemire and Kindt drawing Tezuka characters, but now that I see it, it makes so much sense that they both would have a fondness for classic manga. Really distinct but complementary styles!

I need to track down Phoenix and Black Jack! I've really only read Astro Boy and Buddha, but I might be due for a Tezuka deep dive. Where would you all start?

Jeff Lemire and Matt Kindt pay tribute to Osamu Tezuka!!

I love the Black Jack drawing by Lemire, and Kindt's Phoenix is piece is really cool too! I might have to pick these prints up once they're available. I wouldn't have thought of combining Lemire and classic manga, but his style is super complimentary! Really lovely stuff!

Covenant: The Final Chapter Finally Wraps Up the Beloved Supernatural Romance Comic

It is very cool to see LySandra Vuong releasing the final volume of Covenant! Just in time for Pride Month too!

It looks like Oni is really celebrating the material with a thoughtfully designed physical release too!

“Covenant is a supernatural action series about faith, family, and finding your place in a world that expects you to be something you’re not,” said Vuong in a statement. “What begins as an action-packed comic about exorcists, demons, and angels reveals a deeply personal story about trauma, love, and the courage to choose your own path. At its heart, it follows Sunny and Ezra as they navigate Heaven and Hell while learning who they are — and who they want to be.”

New Sci-fi figures inspired by Kenner's Star Wars figures and Tomland Toys' Starroid Rangers!

Wow! These look like a lot of fun! Personally, some of my favorite Star Wars toys have always been the knockoffs. It's always really exciting to see how Kenner's legendary toys have inspired generations of creators. These Planetoid Raiders will go great alongside the Star Wars dudes in my collection!
