Which University to choose for first F1 attempt - guide?

Hello all,

So, could you please share your thoughts on the following admission options to consider for the MS program for the spring 2027 intake.

I've received admissions from these two, so I want to know which one has better chances of visa success and overall better opportunities.

  1. Rowan University - New Jersey

MS - CS

  1. Saint Louis University - Missouri

MS - CS

Would love to know which I should choose for the I-20, considering the ranking and better F1 chances for a first attempt.

Thank you!

Does your Masters Degree in the Field Helped you?

Hey guys,

So, I'm a prospective international student in the US, about to pursue my graduate (Master's) degree in the country with a good decent institute that offers STEM programs.

I've been interested in cyber particularly information security, to learn and make a career out of it (SOC Analyst L1/L2 or cyber analyst) once I graduate from my program in the next 2 years.

I've been offered two courses to choose from and I wanted to get clarity that does having a master's degree in "cyber" preferably sets you apart or helps you as a beginner than another degree like "information systems and technologies" or "Information Technology"?

Also, does having a master's degree help you with job sponsorship or settlement pathways?

These are two programs that I've been accepted for and confused about choosing one to pursue that could eventually benefit me in the IT sector especially in the cyber space.

Admitted:

  1. MS Cybersecurity Systems

  2. MS Information Systems and Emerging Technologies

I'm thinking of choosing more of an information systems program and working alongside my skills or certs, maybe, but genuinely I want to choose a program that really helps me as a beginner or maybe slightly gives me an edge in the job market.

Would love to hear your story and thoughts :)

Which University to choose for my first F1 attempt? International Student

Hey guys,

So, I've been applying to US as an international student from Pakistan for my MS program in IT, and after considering various factors such as COA, living costs, safety, and overall OPT opportunities, I've decided to choose these 2 universities to go with:

  1. Saint Louis University - Missouri
  2. Southern New Hampshire University - NH

So, my concern is which one would make the visa interview or holds reputation with officers for international students.

It's gonna be my first F1 attempt s I wanna maximize my chances along with preparation, I want you to share your thoughts overall: what do you think of these institutions?

Thanks!

Pivoting Tech-Sales Career- Intl Student!

Hey guys,

Thank you for your thoughts on my last posts and sharing your thoughts.

Well, as someone who's a IT freelancing experience with selling my multiple services to the clients in the US, basically an incoming into USA as international student in STEM field. I've recently started learning about tech sales career (SDR, BDR, AE etc) and it really intrigued me to learn more as I've been someone who really enjoys the sales process of interacting with prospects and closing it.

Now since the overall "tech" market is too rough, and I want to get into tech sales and make a career out of it, I wanted to know of the few things.

My objective: Finish degree, work into tech sales, progress and eventually get a H1-B sponsorship to settle down.

  1. With my background, would it be easier to break into tech sales?

  2. What's the progress in tech sales starting to up and how much approx time it takes?

  3. Main issue is stability; I've heard "sales" roles are very volatile and stressful, you can lose job at any time and if you miss targets you're out. Is it really that stressful or unstable?

  4. What's the base + commission thing is like? how much a mid level tech sales BDR or AE can make starting out?

  5. Most importantly, do they hire non-native if they've the skills? and also do tech sales companies sponsor these roles for employees or not?

  6. Which industry or niche has the better stability and earning potential as BDR/AE?

Would love to hear this advice for guiding me into this path :)

Thank you!

Which Career path is more stable for USA job market (International Student)?

Hey guys,

So recently, I asked about the career guidance on tech sales(SDR, AE) vs cybersecurity (SOC). I'm an incoming international student in the USA with a major of (IT) degree so I want to make sure to choose a career that best offers stability, barrier to entry (demand), and strong chances of settlement (H1-B) too.

I've also been in IT or computers, built an agency (selling our IT services), so both of the careers (tech sales or cyber) are interesting, but lately, I've been seeing posts where people are complaining about tech sales being really stressful & not-so-stable; if you don't meet the targets, you're out the next day.

But on the other side, everyone complains about people with experience unable to land even entry-level roles of security, which is true. Also, the barrier to entry to cyber seems difficult.

My main objective is: low barrier to entry, demand, stability, and an easier path to get sponsorship in the USA.

For people who have done both, what would you suggest honestly, and I would love to hear your thoughts, guys!
