Finally bought a Legion Tower 7 RTX 5080 — need setup advice

After a lot of back-and-forth between a custom build and Lenovo, I finally pulled the trigger on a Lenovo Legion Tower 7i gen 10.

Got it for ₹3.81 lakh all-in after stacking Lenovo discounts/coupons.

Specs

  • CPU: Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus
  • GPU: RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7
  • RAM: 32GB DDR5-5600 (2×16GB)
  • SSD: 1TB PCIe Gen4 TLC
  • Motherboard: Lenovo Z890
  • Cooling: 360mm AIO / 250W liquid cooling
  • PSU: 850W Gold
  • Wi-Fi 7 / Bluetooth 5.4
  • 3-year Legion Ultimate Support with onsite service
  • 3-year Accidental Damage Protection

I initially considered a custom 5080 build around ₹3.6–4L, but the Lenovo ended up being only ~₹15k more than a 64GB/2TB custom build I found, so I decided the 3-year onsite + ADP was worth it.

I chose the 850W PSU rather than Lenovo's 1200W option. From what I understand, 850W is within NVIDIA's recommendation for the RTX 5080, but let me know if there is any reason I should be concerned about that choice.

I'm starting with 32GB because Lenovo's 64GB upgrade was ridiculously expensive, and I'll upgrade later if needed. I also plan to add another NVMe rather than paying Lenovo's crazy SSD upgrade pricing.

What I need advice on

1. OLED TV / monitor

I'm thinking of getting an LG OLED C2/C4/C5, probably 42", to pair with the 5080 for 4K gaming.

My target is roughly ₹85,000–₹1 lakh(C2 both 42 and 48 is available on flipkart for 85k).

Is that a good price for a C4/C5 right now, or would you guys wait for a better sale? Since newer LG OLED generations are already out, I'm wondering whether C5 prices might fall further during upcoming sales/Diwali.

For PC gaming, would you choose C4 vs C5 if the price difference is relatively small? And is there any reason to consider the C2 anymore at this price?

or shall I go for a standard 27/32 inch QD-OLED samsung / other brands like BENQ/MSI ?

2. Keyboard + mouse

Looking for a good keyboard and mouse, ideally wireless but I'm perfectly fine with wired too.

I'd prefer something reliable, comfortable and good for both gaming and normal desktop use.

What keyboard/mouse combinations are actually worth buying in India?

3. Speakers / audio

I'm also considering whether I should get a small speaker setup for the PC/TV.

Would you recommend getting dedicated desktop speakers, a soundbar, or just using the LG OLED's speakers?

Not looking for an insane audiophile setup — just something that sounds genuinely good for gaming, movies and general use.

4. Gaming/work desk

I want a fairly large desk for the PC, OLED, keyboard/mouse, etc. I'm open to both a regular sturdy desk and a motorized standing desk.

Ideally something around 150–180cm wide, stable enough for a heavy PC setup.

What are the best options in India right now?

5. Chair

Also looking for a good chair for long gaming/work sessions. I'm more interested in actual ergonomics and comfort than the "gaming chair" look.

Budget is flexible if there's a meaningful jump in quality.

And finally, any other must-have accessories / setup tips for a new RTX 5080 desktop + 4K OLED setup that I should buy from day one?

Thanks!

Lenovo India GST billing address issue – what should I do?

Ordered a ₹3.8L custom-built Lenovo desktop. During checkout, I accidentally entered my personal address as the billing address.

The LLP name and GSTIN are correct, but the billing address is wrong. The correct LLP address is in the same city and same PIN code.

I contacted Lenovo Customer Care and even senior support, but they said the billing address can't be changed after placing the order and the only option is to cancel and re-order. I don't want to cancel a custom build.

I've emailed Lenovo Order Support and their Grievance Officer asking if they can correct the address before the GST invoice is generated.

Has anyone faced something similar with Lenovo India? Were you able to get the correct GST billing address on the final invoice without cancelling the order? Also, would this create any issue claiming GST ITC/depreciation for the LLP?

Should I buy the Legion Pro 7 RTX 5080 for ₹4.13L and sell my 3-year-old Legion Slim 7i?

Title: Should I buy the Legion Pro 7 RTX 5080 for ₹4.13L and sell my 3-year-old Legion Slim 7i?

Hey everyone,

I'm considering upgrading from my Lenovo Legion Slim 7i 16IRH8 (2023) to a Legion Pro 7 16IAX10H RTX 5080, and I'm really unsure whether the upgrade is worth the money.

💻 My current laptop

Lenovo Legion Slim 7i 16IRH8 (2023)

i9-13900H

RTX 4070 8GB

32GB DDR5-5200

1TB SSD + 2TB WD Black SN850X that I added

16" 3200×2000 165Hz IPS

99.9Wh battery

~2kg

3 years old

Battery health: 78%

Originally bought for ~₹1.8L

It's still a very capable laptop, and I don't have a major performance problem with it.

My main issue is thermals. I live in Chennai, where ambient temperatures can reach 32–37°C in summer. The Slim 7i's thin chassis gets quite heat-soaked, so I often use a cooling pad, 100% fans and have CPU boost disabled.

That's one of the main reasons I'm interested in moving to the much thicker Legion Pro 7.

🚀 The upgrade

Legion Pro 7 16IAX10H

Core Ultra 9 275HX

RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7 – 175W

32GB DDR5-6400

1TB SSD

16" 2560×1600 240Hz OLED

99.9Wh battery

400W adapter

Much thicker/heavier chassis and substantially better cooling

Lenovo's current quote is ₹4,13,566.

There are supposed to be exchange/cashback benefits that could eventually reduce the effective cost, but the exchange terms seem somewhat uncertain, so I'm not treating those as guaranteed.

💰 Another option: RTX 5070 Ti

I can also get the Legion Pro 7 with RTX 5070 Ti 12GB for around ₹3,24,990 on Flipkart from a well-rated seller (4.4★).

So that's roughly:

RTX 5070 Ti → ₹3.25L

vs.

RTX 5080 → ₹4.13L

That's almost ₹90K more for the 5080.

💵 What about selling my current Slim 7i?

Instead of exchanging it, I'm considering selling it separately.

It's 3 years old and has 78% battery health, but otherwise works normally.

Is ~₹1L realistic for this laptop in the Indian used market, or am I overestimating it?

If I could sell it for ₹90K–₹1L, that obviously makes the upgrade a little easier to justify.

🤔 What would you do?

Would you:

A) Buy the Legion Pro 7 RTX 5080 for ₹4.13L and sell the Slim 7i

B) Buy the Legion Pro 7 RTX 5070 Ti for ₹3.25L and save ~₹90K

C) Keep the Slim 7i and wait another year or two

I'm particularly interested in opinions from people who have gone from a Legion Slim → Legion Pro.

Is the improvement in cooling, sustained performance and everyday thermal behaviour actually noticeable enough to justify such a huge expenditure?

And between the 5080 16GB vs 5070 Ti 12GB, is the 5080 worth paying nearly ₹90K more if I want to keep the laptop for several years?

Would love to hear what you would personally do in my situation.

Should I upgrade from a Legion Slim 7i RTX 4070 to a Legion Pro 7 RTX 5080 now, or wait for Diwali?

https://preview.redd.it/rw7zv5m0wejh1.png?width=3102&format=png&auto=webp&s=c8fd6e5c9cbfccc1ae3d6cde0cfa10d55df94303

Hey everyone,

I'm in India and trying to decide whether I should upgrade my current laptop now or wait for the Diwali sales later this year. I'd really appreciate opinions from people who own Legions, especially the Pro 7, and anyone who has used Lenovo's Cashify exchange program.

New Laptop LINK: https://www.lenovo.com/in/en/configurator/cto/?bundleId=83F5CTO1WWIN2

My current laptop

Lenovo Legion Slim 7i 16IRH8 (2023)

  • Intel Core i9-13900H
  • RTX 4070 Laptop GPU, 8GB
  • 32GB DDR5-5200
  • 1TB SSD originally
  • Added a 2TB WD Black SN850X last year
  • 16" 3200×2000 IPS
  • 165Hz
  • 99.9Wh battery
  • ~2kg

I bought it for around ₹1.8 lakh three years ago.

It's still a very capable laptop and I don't have a major performance problem with it. My main issue is thermals in hot weather.

I live in a hot climate where ambient temperatures can reach 32–37°C in summer. Because the Slim 7i is so thin and the CPU/GPU/battery are packed into a relatively small chassis, it gets quite heat-soaked when I'm not using AC.

When the battery temperature gets to around 41–42°C+, I sometimes notice slight mouse/input lag and occasional stuttering/throttling.

I've been managing it with:

  • Cooling pad/fan underneath
  • Fans at 100%
  • CPU boost disabled
  • Sometimes disabling/reducing GPU activity during normal use

With those measures it's generally fine, but I'd prefer a laptop that has more thermal headroom rather than constantly managing temperatures.

The upgrade I'm considering

LINK: https://www.lenovo.com/in/en/configurator/cto/?bundleId=83F5CTO1WWIN2

Lenovo Legion Pro 7 16IAX10H

  • Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX
  • RTX 5080 Laptop GPU – 16GB GDDR7
  • 175W GPU
  • 32GB DDR5-6400 MT/s (2×16GB)
  • 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, 2242
  • 16" 2560×1600 OLED
  • 240Hz
  • 500 nits
  • 100% DCI-P3
  • 99.9Wh battery
  • 400W adapter
  • Wi-Fi 7
  • Much thicker/heavier Pro chassis

The main reasons I'm interested are:

RTX 4070 8GB → RTX 5080 16GB

and

Slim 7i chassis → much more substantial Pro 7 cooling system.

I'm hoping the latter will make a meaningful difference to sustained performance and everyday thermal behaviour in my environment.

The price

The current Lenovo cart is approximately:

₹4,12,567

This includes the laptop and the discounted extended warranty/ADP package.

There is currently a Lenovo exchange promotion offering:

  • ₹25,000 exchange bonus for qualifying Legion purchases
  • Plus the value of the exchanged device

I checked Cashify for my HP Omen/Pavilion gaming laptop with GTX 1650 and got a quote of around ₹21K, but I'm conservatively assuming only ₹15K because I don't want to rely on the full quoted amount until the device is actually inspected.

So my conservative calculation is:

₹4,12,567
₹25,000 Lenovo exchange bonus
₹15,000 assumed Cashify value
= ₹3,72,567 effective

So I'm treating this as roughly a ₹3.73L deal.

There is also a ₹15K credit-card cashback offer, but I'm not counting it because I'm not sure I'll be able to use the qualifying card transaction. If I can, the effective price would be around ₹3.58L.

I'm not eligible for the student discount, so that's not part of the calculation.

Storage isn't an issue for me

The Lenovo configuration comes with a 1TB 2242 SSD, and Lenovo charges roughly ₹33K extra for the 2280 SSD option.

I'm definitely not paying that.

I already own a 2TB WD Black SN850X, which I bought last year for my current Slim 7i, so I'll reuse that in the Pro 7.

So the 1TB 2242 configuration isn't really a deal-breaker for me.

My questions

1. Would you upgrade at ~₹3.73L?

Considering I already have an i9-13900H + RTX 4070 Slim 7i, is the jump to 275HX + RTX 5080 16GB worth spending another ~₹3.7L?

I'm not in a desperate hurry to upgrade.

2. Should I wait for Diwali?

Diwali sales are coming later this year.

Do you think Lenovo could offer a meaningfully better deal on this exact Pro 7 RTX 5080 configuration around Diwali, or is there a significant risk that this particular configuration gets discontinued/sold out before then?

Would you personally:

A) Buy this now
B) Wait until September/October and watch prices
C) Wait specifically for Diwali

3. How much better is the Pro 7 thermally?

For anyone who has used both a Legion Slim and Legion Pro, how noticeable is the difference in:

  • Sustained CPU/GPU performance
  • CPU/GPU temperatures
  • Battery temperature
  • Fan noise
  • Thermal throttling
  • General desktop/browsing use in a hot room

My main motivation isn't just FPS — it's getting away from the thermal limitations of the Slim chassis.

4. Is the 5080 worth it over the 5070 Ti?

I was also considering a Pro 7 with the RTX 5070 Ti 12GB, which is considerably cheaper.

Would you spend the extra money for:

5080 16GB / 175W

versus

5070 Ti 12GB / 140W

if the goal is to keep the laptop for several years?

5. Cashify exchange experience?

This is particularly important.

Has anyone here used Cashify through Lenovo's exchange program?

I'd like to know:

  • Did you actually receive the quoted amount?
  • Did the pickup/inspection reduce the value?
  • How strict were they about scratches, dents, battery health, missing screws, etc.?
  • How long did the exchange/payment process take?
  • Did Lenovo's exchange bonus get paid without issues?
  • Would you recommend using Cashify for a high-value laptop purchase?

I actually have two old HP laptops:

HP Omen GTX 1650: works and boots normally, but has a battery issue. Cashify quoted ~₹21K.

Older HP laptop: heavily worn, missing screws, damaged/broken base, keyboard barely works and only powers on with AC. I'm not expecting much from this one.

I'm leaning toward using the Omen for the exchange if the final valuation is reasonable.

TL;DR

Current laptop:
Legion Slim 7i 16IRH8
i9-13900H / RTX 4070 8GB / 32GB DDR5-5200 / 3.2K 165Hz IPS / 99.9Wh / ~2kg
Bought for ~₹1.8L.

Potential upgrade:
Legion Pro 7 16IAX10H
Ultra 9 275HX / RTX 5080 16GB 175W / 32GB DDR5-6400 / 1600p 240Hz OLED / 99.9Wh / 400W / much beefier cooling.

Current Lenovo cart: ₹4,12,567

Conservatively assuming:

− ₹25K Lenovo exchange bonus
− ₹15K Cashify value

= ~₹3.73L effective

Potential ₹15K credit-card cashback could bring it to ~₹3.58L, but I'm not counting that for now.

I already own a 2TB SN850X, so I won't pay Lenovo ~₹33K for the 2280 SSD upgrade.

Would you buy this now, or wait for Diwali? And if you've used Cashify/Lenovo exchange, how was your experience?

My uncle keeps needing financial help, where should we draw the line?

I have an uncle who has been close to our family since we were kids. He used to join us on temple trips, carried me during a Tirupati pilgrimage, attends most family functions, etc. when I was younger. Over the last couple of years he also moved near us. His wife has helped us many times too, cooking biryani, mutton, chicken, desserts, especially when we had guests over.

The issue is that he's financially struggling. He's in his late 50s, not very educated, his business is in loss, and he regularly takes small amounts from my parents. Recently he borrowed ₹3 lakh from my dad saying he'd return it in 6 months. It's been a year now, so my parents don't really expect it back.

My dad also gifted ₹1 lakh when his daughter got a merit scholarship for MBBS.

Now I'm concerned because my uncle also drinks heavily, has some kind of heart rhythm problem, and apparently has ₹30–40 lakh in loans(to his in-laws). He was advised treatment costing around ₹4 lakh but chose medication and continues drinking.

I'm wondering whether we're eventually going to become responsible for his medical bills/debts simply because we're financially better off.

I don't want to abandon him because he's genuinely been there for our family and his family has helped us too. But I also don't want this to become an open-ended financial responsibility.

What's a reasonable boundary here? Is this kind of financial support normal in Indian families?

TL;DR; My uncle has always been close to our family, but he is financially struggling, has borrowed ₹3 lakh from my dad that hasn't been repaid, has significant debts and health/alcohol issues. We don't want to abandon him, but we're worried about becoming responsible for his future expenses. Where is a reasonable boundary when helping a struggling family member?

Are we getting scammed by our apartment association?

Small 5-flat apartment in Chennai prime area. (3-storey)

Everyone pay ₹2,500/month maintenance per flat( we pay ₹5000 because ours is two houses combined)

For 8–9 months there was no watchman(fired old one due to dispute) because the two resident owners kept saying, "Watchmen are asking ₹18k, too expensive." During that time:

\\- Residents had to go downstairs every day to open the security door for milk, Swiggy, Amazon, couriers, etc.

\\- Every time we took our car out, we had to open and close the main gate ourselves.

\\- Security became so poor that someone stole the generator battery.

\\- Only after the theft did they spend around ₹40,000 on CCTV.

\\- They also delay using the DG during power cuts to save diesel.

Maintenance never came down despite the reduced services.

There are parking issues too. One owner occupies a larger parking space with a tiny car that hardly moves because he says he might buy a bigger car someday. As a result, another resident's bigger car has to squeeze into a tiny space or ends up blocking the common exit, creating inconvenience for everyone else.

The frustrating part is that the two owners living in the building make most of these decisions, while some other owners live elsewhere and probably don't know what residents deal with daily.

Is this normal for small Chennai apartments, or is this just poor management and extreme penny-pinching?

26 rs for a goldflake kings?

This is almost European pricing for ciggies.

₹500+ for a pack of 20 ? Some east European countries have cheaper prices than India

Coworking etiquette: Is using a PS Portal/mobile gaming considered unprofessional ?

I recently joined a coworking space and was curious about people's views on etiquette.

Most members are working, but there are also quiet periods when the space isn't very busy in a shared coworking room.

During breaks or downtime, I've occasionally thought about using my PS Portal or playing a game on my phone.

I'd be using headphones, no voice chat, and no sound from the device. It wouldn't be any noisier than someone watching a video or using a tablet.

The coworking space also organizes activities for members, including outdoor football games, so it seems they don't expect people to be working every minute they're there.

I'm interested in how people view this from an etiquette standpoint.

Would seeing someone quietly gaming on a handheld device as big as PS Portal during a break feel out of place in a coworking environment, or is it no different from other leisure activities people do during downtime?

Got an Ertiga to the airport for just ₹499 on Ola. Was I lucky?

This afternoon I booked an Ertiga for an airport drop through Ola, and the fare was only ₹499.

Out of curiosity, I checked the same route on the other apps:

Rapido SUV: around ₹750

Uber SUV: around ₹920

The driver was polite, professional, and drove well throughout the trip. Since SUV airport rides are usually much more expensive, I ended up giving him ₹550 instead of the app fare.

Has anyone else noticed Ola offering surprisingly low SUV fares lately, or did I just get lucky with the pricing today? 🤔

Any Indian PS Portal users? Stuck at 360p on Airtel 5G hotspot despite 100–300 Mbps speeds

PS5 is on Ethernet and Portal works flawlessly on home Wi-Fi (1080p, 4–5ms latency).

But on a 5G hotspot, Portal connects and stays around 360p/~2 Mbps with noticeable lag, even though Speedtests show 100–300 Mbps down and 10–40 Mbps up.

Has anyone experienced this and found a fix (NAT, IPv4/IPv6, hotspot, carrier settings, etc.)?

Any Indian PS Portal users? Stuck at 360p on Airtel 5G hotspot despite 100–300 Mbps speeds

Anyone in India using PS Portal on Airtel/Jio/Vi 5G?

My PS5 is on Ethernet and Portal works perfectly on home Wi-Fi (1080p, 4–5ms), but on Airtel 5G prepaid hotspot it connects at only 360p/~2 Mbps~60ms despite 100–300 Mbps Speedtests.

(Also vodafone postpaid fails to connect to Playstation, only airtel does but poor speeds and lag)

Any fix?
